  1. Thanks, at least I'm not alone. According to Xeno86, it should work for him: It must be something wrong with your configuration, because I use Firefox 3.0.7 with Flash 10 everyday and it works for everybody else. My suggestion is to do clear install of Firefox 3 and creating a new profile. I tried using new profile but still failing. I'm uncertain whether Firefox 3 is mandatory though.
  2. I have trouble running Flash Player 10 on Firefox 2 as well using KernelEx 4.0 RC 2 on Win98SE. Is it mandatory to use Firefox 3 instead?
  3. I'm new to KernelEx and went into the following problem using it. This is just usage enquiry rather than problem reporting. Win98SE KernelEx 4.0 RC 2 Firefox 2 Used xp.reg Installed Flash player 10 Used unxp.reg However, the Flash player 10 crashed Firefox 2. When running any Flash page (including the flash player version test page: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html ), it just closed Firefox 2 without any message. Hmm... I saw someone mentioned a need to create a new profile... Perhaps, I should reread the thread again. Sorry, no hints after rereading. I tried reinstalling Flash 10 under a new profile of Firefox 2 but still having the same situation. Simply closed Firefox 2. Which logs should I look at to see why it is closed? I reinstall Flash 9 and resumed the system working already. I will keep at KernelEx 4.0 RC 2 first and appreciate any help from you all. Please kindly help if you went into similar situation before, thanks. Btw, are there any simple test to verify that my KernelEx was installed correctly?
  4. I'm on the same boat and have just switched to Avast!, which is still supported for 9x. It may not be long, but until then it should be fine.
  5. Now, the AVG signature update was officially closed. No choice but to switch to Avast...
  6. Yes, I was just thinking that, don't fix unless it's broke comes to mind. I have already downloaded the ClamWin setup file and it's saved in temp, but more than likely by the time that Avast has fully dropped support for windows 98 then I would imagine that ClamWin will have already done the same, hopefully not though. Hope you all had a nice Xmas. The AVG bridge is near for me; therefore, I am planning to jump into the Avast boat. Does Avast have bootup DOS shield like AVG?
  7. Surprised to see update on this thread. Anyway, just come in to say thank you. NUSB 3.3 is the first version that I used on 98 recently. Very powerful and convenient. Thank you once again.
  8. Are you using FF 3 with 98 by using KernelEx? I didn't try and heard that's still buggy.
  9. This rev2352 is the last version for Win98/ME. I failed the installation with the following message: I have aborted the installation and rolled back to the ffdshow version of klmcode345. Any help is appreciated...
  10. Information from the official download page http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/download.php : Windows 98/ME support has been dropped starting with revision 2353. The last officially supported build is 2352 and can be downloaded here: * ffdshow rev2352 for Win98/ME (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-tryout/ffdshow_rev2352_20081124_clsid.exe) However, I failed installation for this rev2352 on my 98SE... I'll start a new thread asking for help...
  11. You must stick with Firefox 2, Opera, SeaMonkey 1.1x (not SeaMonkey 2 alfa because it required KernelEx) or some other browsers. I am a little confused, I thought sea monkey would continue to support old operating system, this is what I read in the moz forums. They even said the would not use the new Gecko 1.9 engine. Did they do a turn about as well? Regarding seamonkey 2.0, the system requirement is : http://www.seamonkey-project.org/doc/2.0/system-requirements Our 98 is being ignored...
  12. I'm experiencing the same symptoms, but I was unable to link them to the Flash Player, so far. Still, the problem has something to do with opening web pages with java script and flash. Leaving such a page oppened for long time period makes the icons dissappear. I'm using Opera 9.21 and the Flash Player version is 9,0,115,0. I thought that we are the minority for reporting such GDI resource problem due to the fact that we are using Windows 98. That's probably due to the limited GDI resource for 98, which was improved for XP onwards... So far, there was no improvement update for the Flash application. Pity us...
  13. I'm working on a temporary file which is 'locked' by an embedded Flash player. On the temporary directory, it is showing FLAxxxx.TMP with 0 size.
  14. I DID study the unlocker website before posting my question. I know that it's developed in the W2k era, and that's why I asked if anyone tried it in 98. Actually, I expect the answer to be "No". Hence, the key is the second part of the post. When a file is in use (locked), I got a "sharing violation" message if I attempted copying it.
  15. Do you know whether unlocker http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=116627 will work under 98? Alternatively, how can I copy a locked file? Thank you in advance.
  16. It was one of my favorites, turn-based war game: Rank 1: Age of Wonders Rank 1: Age of Wonders II
  17. May you explain it further on the ways for securing it please? The 'no-cost' idea is tempting!
  18. Currently, I'm with AVG 7.5 on 98SE. It is still keeping itself updated everyday, though AVG claimed to stop 98 support already. Knowing that Avast is dropping 98, I'm sort of uneasy. Are we reaching the end of 98? I don't quite like the idea of going to XP. Seems that the situation is forcing us to... I should have a CD of XP shelved somewhere, I'm feeling reluctant searching it during the holidays. Ah, have a Merry X'mas, mates!
  19. An interesting comparison among the various programs: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=421355 Looks like I may shortlist DeepBurner and ImgBurn... Do you know whether licensing is required for using nero lite? That's not a freeware?
  20. You can try this if you are interested in this kind of games: http://www.kongregate.com/games/YouGame/air-hockey http://www.kongregate.com/games/gamerchix77/freaky-hockey http://www.kongregate.com/games/Daily_Free_Games/dx-hockey Have fun.
  21. Firefox 2.0.0.20 is ready and installed.
  22. The author of Babelpad agreed to post the last version for Win 98 in the webpage. Looking forward to that.
  23. Today, Firefox 2.0.0.19 is available. Are you going to install this one?
  24. Got a prompt reply from the author declining my request to show the link for Win98 build: Also, I tried MadEdit which also doesn't support Global IME. I'll keep using KompoZer until the birth of a smaller Composer from the SeaMonkey project. Apart from its large size, I'm quite happy with KompoZer.
  25. CD-Burner XP does not support 98, it runs only on: Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista
