MCT, you know what they say? It's not quantity, but quality, that counts. The amount doesn't really matter, as long as the quality is good.

Removing shortcuts for IE, Media Player, Rem. Ass.
DarkPhoenix replied to lexicon's topic in Windows XP
You could have a RunOnceEx entry in the .DEFAULT user's registry... so that a batch file gets executed whenever a new user logs in for the first time and removes them. Not entirely sure how I'd go about doing it though, maybe someone else will have a suggestion? -
That indicates a bug of some sort. Whitespace is meant to be ignored by XML parsers, and comments aren't meant to be slowing things down, unless the program is using them (which it shouldn't)

Possible AutoLogon bug in unattended install...
DarkPhoenix replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Duh.. You are aware that they are decryptable, aren't you? Not that I know, but I know that people can do it. Which means that I wouldn't put my password out like that. *heh* -
No no, I need to be explained stuff like that in order to be able to understand them. (I'm not saying I'm stupid, cause I know I'm not, () but explanations like that make me understand the english language more. And.. I really need to use a dictionary more often: This entry says it's about being evasive. I guess that's partly what you meant too. Thanks, anyhow.

Me too. I'd still love to go. I'm on a neverending anime-craze.

You probably can't do anything about this, but I still find it annoying, and I also would like to use some time for complaining. You see, when I click the "View New Posts" button after having been away for a day, there's something like 6 pages there. So I always start at the last page. When I've read all those through, and click on page 5, I can almost be certain there's been more new posts, so that some of the posts that were on page 5 will be on page 6 when I move to page 5. Which means that I will miss out some posts. And this goes on through the pages.. and since I don't read all posts, I can't know which ones I've just not read, and which ones I've missed. It's annoying.

Using "I'm feeling lucky" with Google, this is what I came across. Dunno if it's it, but if it is, I'd love to be there.. too bad I can't, though. http://otakuworld.com/

JavaScript Coding Help

You're not asking, but I'd just like to say that an AutoIt Script will do the job much better. -
are ZIP drives relevant anymore?
DarkPhoenix replied to Professor Frink's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
The only fun with zip drives are the internal ones. They replace your floppy disk, and you can have 250 MB startup disks. Oh well, that fun is also over with bootable cds and dvds. -
Issues with renaming bliss.jp_
DarkPhoenix replied to mwiner's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I really wonder though, who would ever want to see it again, anyway? -
I really can't do anything unless I can see for myself how it looks... besides it's weird, cause your HTML says nothing about there being an image there.. see: <!-- BEGIN POST --> (IMG:<a href='http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9813/helpticket.jpg' target='_blank'>http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9813/helpticket.jpg</a>)<br /><br /> Microsoft expects to hire roughly 6,000 to 7,000 workers... as for just answering, that's what I'd do... so I can't really help you more... I'm sorry.

I see those images ok. But they seem to be where they should be... (left-aligned under "Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand)") The front news items, however, give me images in ( ) tags. I've tried with both Mozilla and Firefox (I know their basically the same, but they're what I wanna use. I'll just try with IE for the sake of testing.. yup, can't see image there either.. here: http://www.zer0-tec.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=635

I don't see an image at all when I see the post itself. I just get, like I said, this: and I really can't help you make that work, since it's just text...
-
It's probably just a bad guess, but it could be a localization problem... does your language use any non-latin characters? (Kinda silly question, since command prompts usually say "C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe" but.. could be a problem, still, aye? )
-
I don't really see the problem... eh... although you've set images to float off to the right instead, yeah? You also got to teach your posters not to put in so many line breaks <br /> tags. Like the upper post, it has one google image, one security image and then text. Since that person has put a line break between the first image and the second, the second image is one step lower than the first. And then, after that image, there are two more line breaks, causing the text to start very low. When dealing with floating images, they aren't actually part of the text any more, and so you should just put the images there, and then type, with no line breaks at all. As for the forums -- as far as I can see, they don't contain images... they just have a line of text going something like (IMG:http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9813/helpticket.jpg) And, uh.. where do I find posts not on the front pages?

full unattended installation
DarkPhoenix replied to kmosh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thank ye, prathapml, that works like a charm. EDIT: Ah, yeah, I see that plugin now, Vann.. lol.. oh well, it worked the manual way too. -
full unattended installation
DarkPhoenix replied to kmosh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Hey, Vann, question: I did something similar to what you did, make BartPE only run my plugin (a batch that prepares my partitions and starts windows setup) -- however, on reboot, the CD just starts over and over... how do I go about making the CD do like the Windows setup -- only run if there's nothing on the HDD from earlier (like I assume you have done...) -
This is the best program I've ever come across when it comes to mp3 tagging.. it can do basically anyting: ID3-TagIT You'll be wanting this function: It's quite genious.. say your filename is 04_Dido - Thank You_(Pop).mp3 (horrid naming convention, but anyway, it's an example...) you can define that using this style: <K>_<A> - <T>_(<G>) and that'll be passed into the TAGs
-
I just figured I'd give it a try... and I did.. and then I just looked at the date.. "Modified December 30, 1997" and the regedit signature is "REGEDIT4"... yo.. I don't dare let that happen to my PC, lol.. undo!

Right click the WMP window, select "Properties" and look for source or whatever. Then, copy that, and check the extension. If it is wmv, avi or mpg/mpeg, you're fine, just copy that to your address line, and it'll most likely download. If it is asx, you'll have to open up WMP, Open URL (Ctrl+U) paste it there, and then, in the playlist, pick out the movie you want, and then download that using the method specified above. If this doesn't work either, they're using a method that is usually made so it's not possible to save the stream. In that case, you need a program that saves the stream, I think there are a few out there, but I haven't used them in a while... just google for "asx stream saver" or "asx stream downloader" or similar.

The feeling after using Firebox and Thunderbird (1
DarkPhoenix replied to Wai_Wai's topic in Software Hangout
It's quite easy to get Firefox to support Java.. you just got to download a virtual machine. I'd suggest Sun's own VM, at http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp I don't know what the flashplayer add-on is.. I know that it's possible to use flash, but that can't be what you mean, I think. -
Gain space on your CD and make life easier!
DarkPhoenix replied to mrguitarmann's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yeah, like prathapml said. The whole point of unattended installs isn't the time, is it? It's not having to sit in front of the **** box entering information, etc., etc., but instead have some fun on your very most favorite TV game console or maybe go for a round of golf.. take a nap.. etc. - do something else valuable while your PC configures itself. I'd rather have space than time. EDIT: Note, that does not count all the time. I'd rather have more time than take up more space in my chair for instance..
