did u do as blackviper says, & make a backup hardware profile? or did u add it all on current 1 c:\windows isnt the same as c:\windows\system32 (do as he says ) also, make sure "show hidden files & folders" are enabled & untick "hide protected operating system files" (control panel > folder options > view)

which version are u using? 7.53 just came out, it only fixes a javascript issue, but maybe it indirectly fixes your problem, i hope u dont have all those firewall's running @ 1 time, i use opera & kerio personal firewall 4.1 beta 4 & it works well

or even bootskin (from stardock) it doesnt alter any systemfiles, so its safe for everyone

did u disable XP's autorun feature, that will make it so it doesnt refresh icons/contents regards

also, when u place a registry key, (im guessing u are doing it by .reg file) make sure u add 2 \\ so that windows will look in the appropriate place C:\\Windows\\foo.scr

ive had the same tweaks & things (nothing different) & its always worked b4 , but now its giving me the username thing, its not a big deal really, ill just keep playing til i get it

ya, like i said, u just overwrote windows with itself, & if your pc is badly messed, it wont help, u need 2 reformat & go fresh

they are in the registry, but what u should do instead of modding your original kernel is add a switch 2 the boot.ini line that has your OS on it /kernel=mykernel.exe placing mykernel.exe in system32, so it doesnt touch the original 1 also, when u reformat, if things are that badly messed up, dont do an upgrade/reinstall over old OS (sounds like u did) EDIT: -fixed a typo in post

did u slipstream this on a "clean" cd ? meaning did u slipstream sp1 or an earlier sp2 build on the same cd & overwrite it with this 1? that could be why regards

hi goto start > run > cmd type: taskkill /? to get the syntax, its uaully something like taskkill /IM process.exe /f or taskkill /PID numberhere u can also use pskill from sysinternals hope it helps,

nope, its basically just tweaks 2 change things like disabling highlighting of new programs in start menu, just GUI tweaks basically ive removed cmdlines.txt & that didnt help :S only thing else i can think of, is it could be something with xplode & T-9 maybe? regards

the only thing in cmdlines.txt i have is the command 2 install regtweaks during t-13 , rest goes & t-9 & it works fine :S
