i dont know what that guys connection speed is but... its **** fast! most of his stuff is going at 25KB/sec or more! over 10 files doing that speed... :nerves

turning it off and then turning it on when cold is actualy bad for it, leaving it on, or leaving it in standby is the best bet. as you turn it on from a cold startup, the metal parts expand and thats pretty traumatic for a machine such as a computer, leave it on!

i know of a freeware tool that does that, one can copy protect any programs of yours, another will add a password function to any executable file you choose, try Applok: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/a.mccann/ Or activelock (for your own programs) http://www.insite.com.br/~nferraz/activelock/ i have a tool for generating serial key locks for your own programs also, but what i think your after is something you can add to any Cd and stop people copying it, be it full of mp3 or whatever, i have seen a tool like that someplace, but i cant find it again, if i do find it ill post the url here for you.

sorry your wrong folks you can install XP on your laptop, and desktop pc, just so long as you dont use them both at the same time, say -- you on one pc and a friend on your laptop.. thats a breach of your licence. its the same thing with WORD. :assshake :spaced

thankies folks i got that to work, wor, if you put it on to two discs it wont work. if your trying to copy the game it sounds like your trying to copy an original and probably has dummy files on the Cd to make it appear bigger than it is, go to gamecopyworld.com and they will tell you how to do it isnt commandos II on 3 discs anyhow?

i have some divx movies on the pc, taking up all my free space now, how do i spilt them and burn them to discs as they are too large to fit on one disc, and most vidCd's ive ever seen are on two discs. how do i do it? any app recomends?

im trying to sort out prices for the pc i plan to build in the new year, so far ive had change a few things, heres the spec so far minus a hard drive, and it still comes to £989.96! anyone got ideas on similar but cheaper parts or places with cheaper stuff? in the uk please, or at least someplace thats ships to the uk and doesent charge $50 or more for the privilage. yes, could you post more details up? - what version of XP it is, pro or home, coroporate or not, devils0wn or purchase, what CPU you have, speed, amount of RAM etc. also XP asks for the admin info a while before the users i think.. if i remember correctly, it also shows you the default computer name it has generated, which you can change. Try this though:- try to login as "Administrator" and dont fill anything in for the password, then hit ok. if that fails, wait for the login screen to appear, then hold CTRL+ALT+DEL for about 15 seconds or longer, the login screen should disapear and you are then faced with an old style Windows NT 4.0 / Windows 2000 login screen, select Administrator from the list if it isnt selected by default and try login, if that fails try with the other accounts, using nothing for the password.. just pick name and click "OK" let us know how you get on

go to command prompt and ping it back with s*** loads of packets, im sure you will soon hear a complaint from whoever it is LOL

check this out! a tiny 64kb file... now run it, theres 2GB hidden in there of movie and sound! when it gets to the end of the scroller message and theres a bit saying "ok you can hit escape now" dont! Windows XP runs games beter than win98 in my experiance.. anyway, check you have all the latest drivers installed for sound and graphics then maybe try again, what programs have you got installed? ( eg norton sysworks, zonealarm etc ) also please could you post more info on your pc? sound card, graphics card, etc, and id recomend XP to be on NTFS formated with the winXP cd (boot the cd from startup and format the drive to NTFS ) dont do the fast option. (try that later)
