mine went perfectly ok, u can choose the option to have the files added to add/remove prorams, so that if it goes wrong u can always take it off again

flash, it could be unsafe because its not released yet, because it might screw up windows, lock your install or whatever, use your head a bit

you could use clonyXXL to test the CD for errors. visit: http://home.arcor.de/bejot [update] on checking that url now looks dead, and i dont understand the language, i thinks its dutch. try searching on google for ClonyXXL, you might find another download link for it.

1. Run regedit and go to: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents on the right double click on "OOBEtimer" and change at least one digit of this value to deactivate windows. 2. Choose run from start menu and type in this command: %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a to get the activation screen and go to the second option which is activate by phone. 3. In the new screen choose the option to change product key, and type in the new product key (Corporate one only). 4. Close that window, reboot your system and enter the command in step 2 for the second time to verify your activation , you should see "windows is already activated". just out of curio, when do you allplan on installing SP1? or do you plan on installing it at all?

in the BIOS turn off the following then try it P+P OS (may also be listed as plug n play) Boot Sector Virus Scan make sure that APM is enabled, you might have to enable that in the BIOS, or on some machines in power management settings in control panel. if that fails theres a few fixes on Microsoft Update for hibernetion and reboot problems, install all of them. any effect?

well.. i wouldnt compare it to formatting really, as deleting the network connection and remaking it must take oh.. 60 seconds lol

my network did exactly this when i set it up. try this: Put passwords on both machines, and make sure both machines are on the same workgroup. if that doesent help try turning on guest account oin both machines. (you might not notice the effect for a good 5 - 10 minutes or so, it will seem like nothing changed, try reboot or delete the network connection and remake it if that happens, or just be patient) and yeah, Kerio is kick a**, AND FREE! ^_^ **tip for kerio: once you have all the permissions set for most of the software you use, export the rules to a floppy disc or another drive, then if you format you can just import the backup permissions and not have to go through all that ticking boxes and allowing or denying everything again

uninstall your firewall. install kerio, and make sure that "computer is on internet gateway" is ticked in the admin box. something like turevector sounds like its blocking ports on your pc, truevector (comes with Zone alarm) blocks some ports even when the firewall is off, it may be the same thing on whatever firewall your running... just my idea from what you have described.
