let me get this right... what your after is for windows XP to run scripts when people log on, or off on the machines, eg: clear cookies and internet history recently used documents etc ? im not sure how to do that on xp, but ill have a poke around if thats what you mean, its possible on win 2K so it should be on XP

how do you mean it shows the code not the action? i dont get it. Try use a proxy server, i have to do it now and again, sometimes i have to turn it off too. stuff like slow pages, some images not loading stuff not working etc, something funny at my isp's end, now and again ill even have no internet access until i turn the proxy on, or off depending. its rare i have to do it.. i just turned it back on today after months of not using it. in IE go to TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS [tab] Then click the LAN SETTINGS button, fill a proxys info into there and click apply, it will work right away, no need to reboot, is it any beter now? the prox i use is: webcache.blueyonder.co.uk port: 8080 but i think thats for my isp only.

Windows key and L ...to go to log in screen, you wont be logged out but your password will be needed to get on your desktop.

crispy, if you are going to get a new graphics card somewhere down the line, you will probably want a board that is capable of running your current 4x agp card, and that will run newer 8x cards also.

two potential buyers... old people and pc novices, if you can live with your conscience that is. hell pc manufacturers do that every day, so do companies that sell old acient stuff, ive seen 1gb 64mb ram machines selling at £180 or more in my town, you would laugh at something like that, my tutor gives machines like that away! try your local dumpit / skip site (not full on dump.. the place where you dump stuff the trash guy wont take away) they usually keep machines on the side, colleges and some companies like to collect them for recycle or parts, just turn up and ask what they got, they will give you it. build a beter system out of it and sell that, if it has 3 500mb discs you still advertise it as 1.5gb Or use it as a firewall / router, if your on cable or DSL it would be worth while, checkout www.smoothwall.org Free to download (only 20MB!!!), easy to configure and install, you can control it by your main pc and internet browser, no need for two monitors, just install it, shove it at the back of your desk and forget it.

Dual booting linux with windows is not hard as hell. jeez. most distros, Mandrake included will ask if you have windows, and give you the option of a few bootloaders to use, most popular being LILO (linux loader) it just pops a screen up on boot rather like windows would if dual booting with two versions of windows. press 1 for linux mandrake 8, 2 for windows XP, etc. and of course linux os are free to download lol most servers will only give you slow speeds though.. they want you to buy the CD, then... buying the CD is only fair, its not ridiculously priced unlike windows, the price for most distros is very very fair considering the work done on the OS. enjoy playing MSNwar.. out of curio what are you using, Gnome or KDE? and what browser?

no hes just been reading at tomshardware too much, and NO gamehead, linux is not a comunist plot, AMD are not owned by colombian drugs cartels, and yes microsoft is headed by satan my athlon XP is stable, runs at 43'c and is a **** fine cpu Crispy, this is your decision! BUT: i would get the fastest you can afford, and im leaning towards P4 (yuk) intel will aparently be keeping the current Socket type, but dont take their word for it because they always say that, and never do. if you go with the intel then you should be alright for future upgrades, if you get the athlon then the new clawhammer is going to need a new socket type. although the kt400 chipset is new, ive heard mixed reports about it, some are now going back to kt333 etc. ill look into that more.
