mapster, RyanVM's site offers update packs, but may not have one for Norwegian. It will have a list of all ENU updates. Perhaps someone with this language will respond. In the meantime, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

Sp0iLedBrAt, it will probably be OK to do it the way you like. I am no expert on .cmd vs .bat and tend to stick to .bat files. Again, I am not sure if you need the timeout or not. Enjoy, John.

mesheree, what kind of a crazy file is a .flp? I tried to open it with Flash and no-go. Please post a link to your drivers and, if you want some help, attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. John.
-
mesheree, you can disable OEM Preinstall on the Unattended page, General tab, in nLite. Please also read the help (? in circle). I will look at your driver files tomorrow and see if I can figure out anything. Many people use nLite to install text mode drivers and is the reason I came here in the first place. I plan no floppy on my next build. I must quit now. Have fun, John.

sidefx88, I just found a site that discusses altering WINNTBBU.DLL, here. Now that I understand what you are talking about, it looks cool and I'll take a look. I have a good Resource Editor on my VM, so I'll try looking at the .DLL and see what I can learn. I'll let you know. I am trying to go to the German site and it is not responding. Thanks, John. EDIT: I took at quick look at the DLL and found all the bitmaps and strings the link referred to. It does not look like it will be too hard to alter it. I must quit now - it is almost 9:00 PM here and I have not even finished my newspaper. Enjoy, John.

sidefx88, I am in the middle of a nLite run, so I can't look to find the exact area to point you to, but at the bottom of the Options page of nLite are a couple of options that allow you to select Classic Setup and Black Setup Background. As fas as I know, this is all you can change with nLite. I have not looked into trying to apply private themes to the installation (setup) phase. If you have a link to a method, I will take a look. Enjoy, John.
-
sidefx88, please look at the Unattended page as I suggested. NLite calls them Desktop Themes. They will change how all windows appear in your installation. If you right click on your desktop (please try it now), and click Properties. The left most tab says Themes, and this is what nLite calls Desktop Themes. They are not just Desktop Wallpaper, which may be included with a theme. Enjoy, John.
-
sidefx88, if by skins you mean themes, then you can include them in the Unattended page, Desktop Themes tab. Please read the help (lower right ? in circle) for more information. Enjoy, John.

mesheree, Fernando 1 explained why your methods failed. I will try to determine why nLite itself failed. The folder containing the .inf file for a text mode driver must contain a txtsetup.oem file. Many of the newer drivers, that support several OSs, have only one txtsetup.oem file and it is not in the same folder as the .inf file. You will need to place a copy of the txtsetup.oem file in the same folder with the .inf file. Please post a link to your drivers and attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

sidefx88, I suspect the real problem is the fact that you are running nLite under Vista making an XP ISO. People seem to report various degrees of success and failure with Vista/XP. Can you run under XP? If not, you might try running nLite.exe in SP2 XP Compatibility mode. If you will look at the help (? in a circle) next to the Unattended Mode on the General page of Unattended, you will see that using Prompt Repair will disable some unattended features. I think as long as you use it, you will have to answer some questions. Please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Thanks for the Last Session. Enjoy, John.

ko20010214, I think there is NO bug with respect to nhelper.exe. Many people have reported nhelper errors when they nLite a source when it has been nLited before. When you accept an nLited CD from some one else you have probably gotten an illegal copy of Windows of unknown source and there is no way to even begin to guess what the problems might be. Also, this forum does not discuss illegal SW - please see forum rules. I have no idea what you are talking about here. Please give an example screen shot. Enjoy, John.
-
ko20010214, eh?????? What are your symptoms, errors, etc - please post screen shots, and please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

mofirouz, I corrected your name in my previous post - sorry about that. I have spent some time looking at your Last Session. I found nothing, other that what I talked about, that might cause your problem. If you think it was something in the Remove Components, Tweaks, or Options, then quit using these steps and only integrate SP3 and run Unattended. Here are the particulars on SP3. Please check yours against these. Name: WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe Size: 316 MB (331,805,736 bytes) MD5: BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58 I am more inclined to blame hardware or a BIOS setting. Have you every installed any XP on this computer? Perhaps you could try installing the CD as it came from the store and see if it installs OK. Good luck, John.
-
mofirouz, I think this has nothing to do with your hang, but you need to remove the Tweak "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process". It exposes a Windows bug. You also need to be careful with the Option "Remove CD Prompt". It can cause repeated boots from the CD, if the disk is not removed. I don't think you should need to include drivers for your graphic card, but it is worth a try. It must be hardware related since it installs under a VM. Please give the graphic driver a try and let us know. Enjoy, John. EDIT: Corrected name, sorry about that. John.
-
Angelico_Payne, I suggest you use the RyanVM pack and either add the latest updates with nLite or wait until after the install and add the updates using Windows Install. Enjoy your exams, John.

PimpSquash, glad you are running - thanks for reporting. Ponch confirms what I thought about formatting partition. Enjoy, John.
-
x509, have you tried the experiment that I was able to do - installing KB953356 first, then SP3 and ignoring the error message? Might be worth a try if you are waiting anyway. Enjoy, John.
-
PimpSquash, using nLite will work fine (I have done it), if the partition is formatted. Enjoy, John.
-
Mehraban, 100 computers? Are all these your personal computers? NLite's EULA does not allow business or commercial use. Please read the license agreement in the nLite folder. Enjoy, John.
-
PimpSquash, look in the file HIVESFT.INF for the definition of the user profile. Have you formatted your D:\ HDD? If not, that is your problem. Windows install does not do a format on any but the install HDD. There are several threads here about defining the user profile. Please do a search for more information. I do not think you have found an nLite bug considering you are running the latest version and many people have used these options without difficulties. Enjoy, John.
-
tcruiser, nLite needs to have .NET Framework 2.0 or higher. That's what redxii is trying to say but he pointed to the Service Pack. The actual installer is at the bottom, then you can use Windows Update to get any updates needed. If you have any more loading problems, please post a screen shot of the error and if you have problems running nLite, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
-
Mehraban, I know nothing about driverpacks.net, but as long as don't include multiple text mode drivers you should be OK. You might try running nLite in SP2 XP Compatibility Mode. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.IN. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

PimpSquash, pretty pictures, now please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

goinginblind, you don't place SPs in the hot fix area. Select Service Pack and when it runs it will ask you to point to the SP file (as DLed from MS). You may also have updates and these go into the hot fix area. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
