  1. old thread alert, but also a very useful one. I use this often for new pc's to get up to scratch and it works fine with XP. I want to now use with W2k3 Server but the code that Ctrl-X wrote doesn't work. I'm think and can't code for toffee but understand vaguely what he was doing. So, Can anybody hash it to work with W2k3 Server please? NeilW [edit] all sorted and will test and update tonight when home now understand teh skip & tokens -> which is key bit here For XP SP3 use ECHO MS Windows XP Service Pack 3 FOR /F "TOKENS=3*" %%V IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v CSDVersion') DO SET CSDVERSION=%%V %%W IF "%CSDVERSION%"=="Service Pack 3" ( ECHO is already installed ) ELSE ( ECHO Installing... %CDROM%\KB???????.exe /quiet /forcerestart /n /f ECHO Installation complete. ) pause you will need filename entered as i do not know it off top of head [/edit] [edit] This will now work on XP and W2k3 fine and dandy. slightly modified to remove the SKIP=n command as not needed [/edit]

  18. cheers jcarle, and sorry for delay been away for while. those steps regarding the save as & zip as etc i don't recall seeing in the steps so will have another go and see what happens. woohoo the last step of the save as .ul & then zip up as .zip and then rename as .ulz has made it all work thank you fella and all for looking and chipping in.
  19. tried and no luck always gives me what i had previous even uninstalled and re-installed and still gives me what i had loaded before thanks for helping, i will crack this means then that my attempt probably works.... could you please have a look at my thread and see if it does? at least i'll know that is ok and just need to know why app will not see any i create. i'm using the newest version and your using one before then which may have a bearing?!?!
  20. nope nothing in the program folder, even after waiting 5mins only seem to see the ulz in the c:\temp folder starting to get annoying now
  21. yeah i get all that, but when i decompress using WUD it dumps file sin temp folder and are ulz, and when i right click to open in notepad++ it is gibberish i can use the one in this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/Office-2003-ENU-...07-t101763.html to read as opens as a text file viewable and editable. I can't fathom how to open a ulz as an xml file to play with. How did you do it? we will win
  22. i would love to answer, but have no idea as i can't my own to work, hence my thread asking to know if what i had done works. Do you know how to make a .ul or is it .ulz file? I mean do we just save as? or is there a trick!!
  23. no worries man and good luck as my first go is failing for an unknown reason
  24. i suggest doing as I, read the UL Schema note from jcarle and try to create one. I'm in the process of learning for two reason: a: my benefit & knowledge b: help others who have done this also but can no longer continue
