Alternative to Shutdown.exe
Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Ok, I tried PsShutdown.exe: basic Some options At least I can put a cancel button... EDIT: I don't understand how to use the -e option: -e Shutdown reason code. Specify 'u' for user reason codes and 'p' for planned shutdown reason codes. xx is the major reason code (must be less than 256) yy is the minor reason code (must be less than 65536) psshutdown [[\\computer[,computer[,..] | @file [-u user [-p psswd]]] -s|-r|-h|-d|-k|-a|-l|-o [-f] [-c] [-t nn|h:m] [-n s] [-e [u|p]:xx:yy] [-m "message"] -
I'm looking for a small exe program (or anything else!) wich doesn't look ugly as shutdown.exe. To me it looks like a big error message and remind me one of those summer 2003 virus! Maybe something more graphical with a few buttons like Reboot Now and Cancel. EDIT: WoW 400 post!

Incroyable HULK replied to ThatGuyPSU's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
True 24-Bits color is comming but for now you can use 24-bits bitmap with Easyboot and they will be converted automatically to 16-Bits... -
I don't think he is planning to use this for a Microsoft Product...

Ok, I have sucessfully switched to the svcpack.inf method... Can I install DirectX 9.0c this way too (without having to do Re-Packaging)? @Bilou_Gateux I had some troubles with IE6 when I used your method until I put back thoses files you told me where not necessary: README.CAB Ce dossier peut être supprimé.txt filelist.dat iesetup.dir I think this has to do with iesetup.ini wich is listing the downloaded files: [Options] Language=040C Shell_Integration=0 Win95=0 Millen=0 NTx86=0 W2K=6.0.2800.1106 NTalpha=0 [Version] Signature=Active Setup [Downloaded Files] BRANDING.CAB=1 Ce dossier peut être supprimé.txt=1 CRLUPD.CAB=1 filelist.dat=1 ie6setup.exe=1 IEEXINST.CAB=1 iesetup.dir=1 iesetup.ini=1 IEW2K_1.CAB=1 IEW2K_2.CAB=1 IEW2K_3.CAB=1 IEW2K_4.CAB=1 MAILNEWS.CAB=1 MPLAY2U.CAB=1 OEEXCEP.CAB=1 README.CAB=1 SCRIPTFR.CAB=1 WAB.CAB=1

MultiBoot = EasyBoot This one is my favorite. It has a nice set of feature you won't get elsewhere. You can use CDSHELL as well but you won't get a graphical interface... -
@Bilou_Gateux No I am not planning to add this one... only Critical Updates! I'd like to add some reg tweak in Windows 2000 like I do in Windows XP, but it doesn't seems to work. For instance if I add this to my cmdlines.txt: [Commands] ".\AllUsers.reg" Allusers.reg Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;----------------------- ;Operating System Tweaks ;----------------------- ; Pays = Canada [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International] "iCountry"="2" "iCurrDigits"="2" "iCurrency"="3" "iDate"="2" "iDigits"="2" "iLZero"="1" "iMeasure"="0" "iNegCurr"="15" "iTime"="1" "iTLZero"="1" "Locale"="00000C0C" "s1159"="" "s2359"="" "sCountry"="Canada" "sCurrency"="$" "sDate"="-" "sDecimal"="," "sLanguage"="FRC" "sList"=";" "sLongDate"="d MMMM yyyy" "sShortDate"="yyyy-MM-dd" "sThousand"=" " "sTime"=":" "sTimeFormat"="HH:mm:ss" "iTimePrefix"="0" "sMonDecimalSep"="," "sMonThousandSep"=" " "iNegNumber"="1" "sNativeDigits"="0123456789" "NumShape"="1" "iCalendarType"="1" "iFirstDayOfWeek"="6" "iFirstWeekOfYear"="0" "sGrouping"="3;0" "sMonGrouping"="3;0" "sPositiveSign"="" "sNegativeSign"="-" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\Geo] "Nation"="39" ; Clavier canadien-francais [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\IMEtoggle] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\IMEtoggle\scancode] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload] "1"="00000c0c" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Profile] "B0A57A8"=hex:00,27,89,e5,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,4f,\ e6,28,04,a9,57,0a,0b "22983098"=hex:60,8a,14,6d,b2,ab,b2,2d,cb,fb,9a,22 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Substitutes] "00000c0c"="00001009" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Toggle] "Hotkey"="1" "Language Hotkey"="1" "Layout Hotkey"="2" ; Clavier Canadien Francais [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload] [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload] "1"="00000c0c" [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload] "1"="00000c0c" ;Désactiver l'update GDI+ KB873374 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\GdiDetectionTool] "GDITool"=dword:00000001 ;Toujours décharger les DLL à la fermeture d'un programme [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer] "AlwaysUnloadDLL"=dword:00000001 ;Désactivation de l'îcone de ATi [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\Desktop] "EnableIcon"=:"0" ;Arrêt plus rapide de l'ordinateur [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="1000" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "HungAppTimeout"="1000" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="1000" ;Prefetcher tweak(faster booting) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters] "EnablePrefetcher"=dword:00000003 ;Disable links folder in explorer favorites so it never appears again. In my organisation we are using this partition scheme: C:\Windows D:\Program Files E:\Documents and Settings You have to specify theses in your Winnt.sif: [Unattended] ProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files" CommonProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files\Common files" You can also specify the location of Documents and Setting here: [GuiUnattended] ProfilesDir="E:\Documents and Settings\" BUT be aware that your partitions MUST be partitionned and formated BEFORE you launch your Unattended Installation... Otherwise you will get an error because Windows only format the destination drive (default = C:\Windows) Also don't use Partition Magic (all versions !) to do this on Windows 2000, it won't work. Use Acronis Disk Director 9 Suite instead (wich contains Partition Expert)

Winnt.sif [URL] entry problem

Virtual PC is way too slow... get VMware and use the function "Allocate Disk Space Now" Actually my simulations runs FASTER than if I was installing for real on the "host" computer! -
Sorry, I just edited my previous post, there was some stuff missing at the END!!! EDIT: you can give a try to nakira's syntax
-
there is a missing \ try this first: REG ADD %KEY%\080 /V 1 /D "%ProgramFiles%\WinZip\winzip32.exe /noqp /notip /autoinstall" /f EDIT: I don't know if your swithes are good for WinZip since I never install this program...

For those who have finished the game have you seen this ugly texture? Near the end, you are going up the Gigantic Blue tower in an elevator. As you go up (pretty long ride...) you can see outside and you can see the city if you look at the bottom but this texture is worse that Doom I. the city looks like a 100x100 pixel bitmap stetched to full screen WHHAAAA UGLY! You know when they cut rounded corner
-
I could do something like that! Here in Quebec City, canada, everything is covered with snow so I could find a good spot (industrial building) go out with my tools, take some pictures and then do some editing in Photoshop just to bring a bit of pixelisation...
-
I don't know why you are launching the installation from a distant folder like that. In my setup, I always launch from %systemdrive%\install\xxx... Anyway, I think there is a Program Files variable so you could go with: "%ProgramFiles%\WinZip\winzip32.exe" otherwise I think you need a special syntax for that space... and unfortunatly for you I am really not good at this! EDIT: or was it %ProgramFilesDir% . . ... . .. . .. . ...

unattended cd works, but then windows hangs
Incroyable HULK replied to mtwin2's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
if you have the same problem occuring after a "regular" installation I guess you have some hardware issues... Are you able to go into SAFE MODE? You can access this option by pressing F8 during the boot process. If it is related to hardware, I suggest the following: 1) Keep the bare minimum hardware required... 1 memory stick, one optical drive, one hard drive... 2) Update your computer bios to the latest one 3) Get in your BIOS and do a "LOAD SETUP DEFAULT" and "EXIT SAVING CHANGES" 4) Return in the bios and Disable everything not needed now (Onboard Sound, Onboard Lan, Unused EIDE or SATA controllers. etc.) Now if you are able to do a regular installation, bring the stuff you have disabled back online one by one an make sure everything is working properly -
I think the problem is comming from the double quote around "program files" maybe you can try: "%systemdrive%\program files\WinZip\winzip32.exe" EDIT: you get a CMDOW error because it is not present in the SYSTEM32 folder...
