  1. I love the fact that you waited 4 mins for a response. My answer would be, whenever they decide to.
  2. I first mentioned this problem in this thread. To summarize, you need the dotnetfx.exe, which extracts the file to the hd, then runs it. The thread that prathapml references, mentions two methods of slipstreaming the dotnet framework. I mention how to do 1.0 if you have the media center or tablet pc edition cds. The second is slip streaming sp1 of 1.1 into the installation. I know they are two completely different topics, but someone misread the thread, and it went off into a tangent. There is a thread where someone made the dotnetfx executable with the 1.1+sp1. You can always make your own also.
  3. Actually it is illegal. It violates copyright law. However most companies turn a blind eye to some modifications, as it improves the user's experience. If MS made a fuss over login modifications, theme hacks, etc. There would be a lot of dissent from users. Also given the fact that it would be nearly impossible to stop, and making a fuss over it would make them look bad. Most files shared are rather harmless also. Most people don't change code, ie in shell32, logonui, etc; just the resources. These could be shared by themselves, if they need to be, and make the user do it.
  4. Or you can use the 2000 recovery console, which lets you bypass the adminstrator password in xp. The 2000 console has fewer commands than the xp one though.
  5. 78% Would be higher if I didn't have a job. Those were the days....
  6. At least its not random ramblings. I at least checked to make sure you had a message. I'll probably translate the rest later today when I get bored.
  7. I tried mazin's method above but was also getting the buy now link on my desktop. To remove it, I added the following to my command line. REMOVE=BuyNowACDSeeTrial,BuyNowPowerPackTrial
  8. I haven't followed the lastest download managers, but I currently use flashget. It is the only one which will max out my bandwidth for the entire time of downloading the file. Starting using it when it was freeware, but wouldn't mind a free alternative which is on par with it.
  9. Most likely you have some hotfixes integrated into your cd. Look in the I386 folder, and remove the svcpack folder, and svcpack.inf/svcpack.in_ files. If there is no svcpack folder, look in svcpack.inf to see where the directory is, and remove it. After its gone, give it a try.
  10. @mazin: %HOMEDRIVE% is the drive where your profile resides. D:\Documents and Settings\mazin HOMEDRIVE is D: HOMEPATH is \Documents and Settings\mazin @Nois3 The %USERPROFILE% is the default profile in setup, which is probably the best time to set the variable. It may also not also have the name Default User, but can instead be Default User.COMPNAME. Either pulling from the registry, or setting it during setup is the best solution here.
  11. Yes, if you are using the optimize in cdimage, as described in the main guide, then you won't notice that on the cd. So everything should fit fine.
  12. If you are using the $OEM$ approach, you can put a copy of the i386 folder in the $1 folder. This will copy all the files over for you, and you don't have to worry about code.
  13. hides the command window from the user
  14. 1) fgf15.exe /s 2) registry key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JetCar\JetCar\General] "RegName"="email" "RegPass"="key" "RegDisp"="name" edit: looks like drthawhizkid beat me
  15. I wouldn't add that to my detached program. You may not want to have that pop up everytime. Best way to do this is hit SHIFT-F10, should bring up your command prompt, and run your game that way. This way the game will only come up when you really want it, not everytime. I usually only do this when I'm testing my install, and bored.
  16. yeah, the tool only adds that reg tweak, and sends you to that page. Worst hotfix ever.
  17. I believe web view is for the panel on the side of your explorer window, versus classic, which is just a big open window, not sure about filter. Please let this thread die though. Use part two, it is stickied, with all the tweaks from this thread. Mods, maybe a lock?
  18. Truth is what I pulled is exactly what the "Set program access and defaults" method is doing. These are the commands they call, and are pulled straight from the registry. As far as a registry key doing what the commands are doing, there are none that I'm aware of. You could try taking a snapshot of the registry before and after running the commands, but I believe it is more than registry entries that are modified. I run these three commands in my cleanup.cmd file, and works like a charm. The access to these programs still exists somehow, even though some take away the executable.
  19. internet explorer %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\shmgrate.exe OCInstallHideIE outlook express %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\shmgrate.exe OCInstallHideOE windows media player %SYSTEMROOT%\INF\unregmp2.exe /HideWMP /SetShowState
  20. I should probably add this here. I had a problem with my ati mobility card, and this lil bugger was the culprit. I'm taking it out of my unattended, and you may want to also if you have an ati card. The following registry key will screw up SP2 with ati mobility and possibly other cards. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management] "LargeSystemCache"=dword:00000001
  21. found the problem in case anyone is interested. Odd that it never had this problem before. The following registry key will screw up SP2 with ati mobility and possibly other cards. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management] "LargeSystemCache"=dword:00000001
  22. I think I'm in love. Look at those curves.
  23. I have finished all my testing of SP2, and decided to install it on all my machines. I installed it on my laptop, and seem to have issues with the radeon driver. I don't slip stream the drivers into my xp cd, I generally install them later. None of the other drivers give me this same issue. The problem happens when I install the drivers for the card, and reboot. Upon login, I get errors about my profile. Every account I have has this problem. Safe mode freezes when trying to enter that. This problem is reproducable 100% of the time. I have tried using a set of hacked drivers, thinking they were the problem, but the problem persists. Everything on my computer is updated. The only hacked files I have are uxtheme, tcpip, and shell32. They haven't given me problems in the past, and the exact same image has been used on other computers with no problem. I have done chkdsk's like a champ, but haven't found a problem. I'm coming up with a blank on how to fix the problem. Has anyone seen this problem, or have an idea of how to fix it? If anyone is interested in the error messages, I can post them, but a search on google turns up nothing helpful.
  24. Glad to hear that, but the problem is still there... and I really can't figure out how come it does that. Could it only be caused by VM Ware not being a real life pc? EDIT: AHhA! I think I found a trail to follow, I noticed that it does that also between 1st and 2nd runonceex but it does not show cause the window is the same size how do we make the window close then? It should close before runing the next one no? Well the 3rd one does when it finishes his last command. So except from doing another autoit script, how can we make those windows close? Check this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=26917 If that doesn't fix it, post your runonceex1.cmd also
