  1. Hello Rippie, Unfortunately the only software that I tested was "Boot Log XP". I don't have Windows 7 or even Vista, so I won't test any other "Boot Logger" too soon… Meanwhile this program only works for Windows XP, but they intend release a version that works in 64-bit, Vista/Seven: http://www.greatis.com/utilities/bootlogxp/bootvis_replacement.htm Kind regards.
  2. There is an option: Boot Log XP http://www.greatis.com/utilities/bootlogxp/index.html You can look for "Microsoft Bootvis": http://www.greatis.com/utilities/bootlogxp/bootvis_replacement.htm Good luck.
  3. You can try this: Fix the ugly menu bar after applying a custom theme http://windowsxp.mvps.org/uglymenubar.htm Do not change your registry without a backup. Good luck.
  4. Last month (April), after one year (it takes ages to HP fixes this problem) HP finally begins to release a hotfix to this problem. This was the worst support case that I have ever seen in my life. After install all the new updates displayed in the HP page for my printer all my problems and errors with the Word 2007 are gone now. Even using HP as my default printer (no changing was necessary anymore). Good luck.
  5. Yes. You are right. The "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1" is the full updated package for v2.0 SP2, v3.0 SP2 and v3.5 SP1. You don't need to install " .NET 2.0 SP2" first. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 Full Package To download the full package, rather than the bootstrapper, click on the link below: .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) IMPORTANT: After installing the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 package (either the bootstrapper or the full package) you should immediately install the update KB959209 to address a set of known application compatibility issues. If you still have problems with these .NET versions you can try also the updates below (post v2.0 SP2, v3.0 SP2 and v3.5 SP1): The best thing to do is to wait for a new update rollup package with the above mentioned patchs. Regards.
  6. Try this: cdimage -e -b<bootsector> -l<label> -h -n -d -m -x -o -w1 "<source folder>" "<destiny folder\NAME.ISO" And see if it works for you. Good luck.
  7. Hello, In the previous versions of "win32k.sys" in Portuguese Brazilian language (PTB) this bug appears in QFE brand. The bug was fixed in the new version of the file: MS09-006: Vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel could allow remote code execution http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958690/ The error doesn't appear anymore in QFE PTB version; the translation was fixed. Best regards, Anderton.
  8. Hello cluberti, Thank you very much for these fantastic instructions. Now I can monitor many events that happen to my RAM. Great tip! After some tests until my graph is working perfectly now. Bye, bye "Task Manager"… Best regards, Anderton.
  9. Hello cluberti, In the Windows XP SP3, I followed the instructions mentioned in the above post, but I have 2 doubts: 1-) In the Performance Monitor, after I add the 4 counters, in the "System Monitor Properties", in the "Graph Tab", in the option "Vertical Scale", which should be the value to set (default is 100) since I have 512 MB of RAM? 2-) Now, in the "Data Tab", in the option "Value Scale" (default is "default"), which should be the correct value to set here based in the configuration above? I have tried many values, but I never can see the 4 lines of the 4 counters at the same time in the graph displayed in the "performance monitor". Thanks in advanced. Anderton.
  10. The GDR (General Distribution Release) updates can be found on Windows Update site so as to be available to a wider audience. Another key item is GDR's are tested to a greater degree than QFE (Quick Fix Engineering). QFE, also known as "hotfixes", are created when a hardware, BIOS or a software issue is identified that needs a fix in a specific and small subset of customer environments. These fixes (QFE) have not been tested for the same length of time for regressions or incompatibilities as what a GDR fix typically goes through. Another key point is QFE's generally contain all the prior fixes from both GDR and QFE, while the GDR's releases in the same package do not contain all the QFE fixes. Files in the QFE folders are cumulative and contain both "the GDR-class fix" and "all previous hotfixes" that affect the included binaries. GDR branch fixes are available from the "Microsoft Download Center", and QFE branch fixes are available directly from "Microsoft Support". Remember a hotfix (QFE) is to fix a specific issue quickly, while "Microsoft Update GDRs" are created to improve everyone's experience. Regards, Anderton.
  11. I had this problem once, and the culprit was the NVidia Graphics Card Driver. I did some "bad configuration" (change 'Coolbits' settings) and the "black screen" blinks every time that I turned on the PC. Take a look at your video card driver. Good luck, Anderton.

  16. Hello, Do you have any program to manage ISO files? 1-) If you have it, you can edit the "WINNT.SIF" file attached to include your "product key"; 2-) Then open the ISO file and replace your old "WINNT.SIF" with the new one; 3-) Test if this ISO version is working for you. On my VM it doesn't ask for the admin password! But you probably know that your configuration isn't "Fully unattended". Don't you? It asks for HD partitions and it will open the Windows Welcome or Mini-Setup ("Setting Up Internet Connection" and "Create User Accounts") screen after the installation finishes. If you prefer to use Nlite again, then make sure to choose the option to "DO NOT Encrypted the Admin Password". And then try with this configuration. Regards, Anderton. WINNT.zip
  17. Hi gkhnoisgtht, The other reason for the screen appears during setup is a missing "Computer name". You should have both: "Computer name" and "AdminPassword" in your "winnt.sif". Test with the configuration example showed below: And try to use the "quotes" in your WINNT.SIF to see if things work this time. If your problem persists, then post you "WINNT.SIF" here, but don't forget to remove your "ProductKey". Good luck, Anderton.
  18. In the "WINNT.SIF" answer file: Do you have this section in your "WINNT.SIF" file? Regards, Andy.
  19. You can find the "EXE" here: HOTFIXES: Win2000 SP4, WinXP SP2, WinXP SP3 and Win2003 SP2, Under New Management! And the "CAB" here: Windows XP SP3 updates for use with HFSLIP Direct link for the Cab File: Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool Cab File Here: kb942763 and kb898461, they were not integrated in the iso And here: Problem with HFSLIP 1.7.6 (XP SP3+WMP11) ? Good luck, Andy.
  20. You can set this here: "WINNT.SIF" in the "UnattendSwitch" option. UnattendSwitch?, What is this? In your case you'll have to set it to "No". Regards, Anderton
  21. Hi, If you have free time to read about: Windows SteadyState I don't use this add-on from Microsoft, but you can take a look at the site and read the documents about this product for Shared Computer Family. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/sharedaccess/default.mspx Sorry, I don't remember where I saw someone talking about this new version released by Microsoft for free to genuine users. Good luck, Anderton.

    Registry Tweaks

Hi, [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "Start_MinMFU"=dword:00000000 This tweak will disable completely this "non nense" feature, and you can "Pin to Start Menu" only the items that you really use every time. [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}] "SortOrderIndex"=dword:00000054 My Computer First = 54 My Documents First = 48 This tweak will also change the order that these items appears in the Windows Explorer. "sysdm.cpl" is a part of the "Windows Protected Files", so every time that you replace this archive by a modified one, the Windows File Protection (WFP) reverts it to the original one. Windows File Protection and Windows http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/archive/wfp.mspx Description of the Windows File Protection feature http://support.microsoft.com/kb/222193 If you want to use modified files you should use nLite to disable the "Windows File Protection" (important Windows feature). Good luck, Anderton.
