  1. Probably not, at least I have no intention of doing so. As to the 32-bit versions out there, I've tried OnePiece's all-in-one update packs and .Net true addons but have found them to have the odd bug, perhaps they are a tad too aggressive in their implementation. Instead I use UserHidden's (and before that YumeYao's) updated .Net installer, but even that far more conservative option runs into problems with Windows Update continuously offering the same update.

MS13-029 - Remote Desktop Client As a side note, surely I'm not the only one unimpressed by the tendency of applications and websites to adopt Windows 8 "modern UI" styling. The new versions of Avast and Comodo are rather bleah and MediaFire now has fuzzy out of focus text.
  3. Clearly coming late to this party, that's what you get for going away for the weekend (also away this coming weekend, as such this month's update might be late). As 5eraph has noted his pack includes a large number of hotfix by request patches, in the very early days of 5eraph's pack I encountered some application incompatibilities when using it, mind you it has been several years since I've had such an error. As to whether using 5eraph's pack or publicly released hotfixes is "better", there is no clear answer (I use 5eraph's packs on my systems). The publicly released hotfixes have had more extensive testing but on the other hand the HbR patches fix (admittedly rarely encountered) problems with Windows XP x64. The updated DirectX files in the June 2010 redist pack (re-released 18 Apr 2011) mainly include performance fixes for game use, so while there is no security issues if you don't install it, I'd still recommend you install it.
  4. When running nLite, did you turn off your anti-virus? I find leaving mine running while nLite is processing causes problems. I've attached a known to work XP sp3 last session created under XP x64. LAST SESSION.INI
  5. Added the post end of life hotfixes suggested by tomasz86 (as a separate download). PCBONEZ: If you were using the default install, then you are using updated .Net installers provided by User_Hidden. The "errors" you saw were the batch files searching for the original Microsoft installers for those people who chose not to use the updated installers (see notes part 4). As thomasz86 noted, Avast version 8.0.1483.72 works on Windows 2000 (although I don't care for the Windows 8 skin a lot of programs are using lately).
  6. On the batch file front, your GuiRunOnce should look like this if you want the batch file to run BEFORE the user account is initialised: [GuiRunOnce] Ping -n 41 127.0.0.1 > nul CMD /R %Source%OTROS\RUN.bat If you want the batch file to run AFTER the user account is initialised it should look like this: [GuiRunOnce] Ping -n 41 127.0.0.1 > nul Start %Source%OTROS\RUN.bat with the first line of the batch file being: Ping -n 121 127.0.0.1 > nul The way you have it currently the batch file will execute at the same time that the user account is created.

MS13-021 - Cumulative Security Update PCBONEZ: I've corrected number of files to move for IE8 silent install (it dropped from 5 to 4 in February), as for Adobe flash player, this guide only updates monthly so if an update is released out of cycle it won't be included, that's why FlashCheck.bat asks you to ensure you have a later version if the expected size doesn't match. Avast anti-virus and Comodo firewall both released new versions with a "modern/metro" style UI. Personally I don't care for it but wouldn't comment except that the latest version of Comodo breaks Deamon Tools, specifically DT can't see that the SPTD driver has been installed.

  10. I can definitely say that .7z works correctly and as nLite recognises .zip and .rar I can't see any reason they wouldn't work as well. No, this update is x64 only, if you want a x32 IE8 update try this one.

MS13-004 - 4 Vulnerabilities fixed A bit late this month, a tad busy with other things. As one can see mostly .Net related changes this month, now if only Microsoft would put out updated installers that would vastly cut down both the size of the install media and the time taken to install (as .Net patches take forever to apply).
  14. KB982524 also dies, so there will be a large number of .Net patches lined up against the wall this month. Of course with .Net 4.0 the patches are 201MB where the actual installer is only 48MB, only Microsoft would have a program where the updates are over four times the size of the original program without issuing an updated installer.
  15. You can basically follow the steps 1, 2 , 5 & 10 in this guide with the following changes: 1 - as is 2 - integrate the 32-bit SP3 (no need to exit) 5 - add User_Hidden's Update Pack (only, the files linked to in this guide are 64-bit specific so don't use them) 10 - as is
  16. It sounds like you are talking about the 32-bit version of Windows XP (if you don't specifically know otherwise, it's 32-bit), this guide is written for the rare 64-bit version. That being said, assuming you have an original Microsoft XP disk, all you need to do under nLite is integrate Service Pack 3 (when integrating there is no need to install Service Packs seperately). You may as well integrate the latest Hotfix Pack at the same time. For 32-bit XP I also integrate a few bits and pieces, here's what I include (all from the same site as the update pack): [Hotfixes] D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\1_XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20121211.7z D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\2_Ricks-YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Clean_ENU_1_4_17.7z D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\3_YumeYao_WMP11_Addon_ENU_V3_4_5.7z D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\4_Ricks-YumeYao_MicrosoftVC78910RuntimeLibraries_MixedAddon_2_1_5.7z D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\5_YumeYao_XPSWIC_Installer_Addon_1_2_0.cab D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\6_Kels_CPLBonus_v12.8.8_addon.rar D:\Operating_Systems\nLite\WinXP\Hotfix\7_Kels_Uber_Addon_v16.5.7z

MS12-063 - Cumulative Security Update Added support for Microsoft's Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit with all EMET tested applications being protected (All.xml applied) and the Oracle VirtualBox extension pack (but it won't show as installed until you create your first VM). Speaking of VirtualBox, I got an email stating that my long running problems had finally been fixed with 4.1.22 and to reopen the bug ticket if I was still having problems. Having tried 4.1.20 and having it still hang all the time I didn't hold out much hope but 4.1.22 seems OK. I was going to report that the problem had been fixed but now Oracle won't let me login to my account, oh well. None the less I'll be sticking with 3.0.14 as they started Vista-fying it with the 3.1.x series, by which I mean the settings I change when doing testing are 2 clicks away in VirtualBox 3.0.14 but 5 clicks away in later versions. Explorer09, yep, had the VM running as I headed out the door this morning. EDIT: I'd advise caution before installing Microsoft's EMET as 7-Zip and Skype didn't work for me after installing EMET. I did a survey of all the EMET supported applications in the guide and found that WinRAR and Internet Explorer (64-bit only, 32-bit OK) didn't work either. I've added commands to resolve these issues but can't say with any confidence that there won't be others.
  23. Microsoft's download site has been seriously spotty as of late, they seem to be transitioning it to a new style (again). For instance I had a lot of trouble getting to the download page for KB2736233 (latest ActiveX Kill-Bits), only once out of multiple attempts did it show up on searching. However as the direct link is still active at this time (noting that your page uses the same direct link), it will be updated if it's still stuffing up after next month's updates.

The recommended method for installing Microsoft Office 2007 has been changed with instructions and download links in the file Misc\Office2007.html (but the old method will still work). Also the "Small Business" version is now supported along with the previously supported "Home and Student", however support for other versions will require the help of you dear reader.
  25. Rado, have you tried installing from a USB stick instead of the DVD drive? I ask because on my system if I try to install XP x64 from the SATA attached DVD drive I always get a BSOD, I have to use a PATA IDE attached drive.
