In a great many cases text is unreadable or at least likely to induce a headache, making one's system nigh on unusable, hence that hotfix is not included at this time. Other changes Support for VirtualBox's experimental Direct 3D guest additions has been added, to use it copy VBoxGuestAdditions.iso to the nLite root directory (where the Run1_XP-64.bat file is) instead of \AddOns\ and increase the number of automatic logins (at step 8) by one. With D3D installed Skype is blocked due to it causing graphics corruption (I suspect Skype throws a wobbly when it probes for a webcam) and YouTube only works with Chrome and Opera but on the other hand it allows some games to work (Doom 3 for instance).

Copy/Paste from Microsoft Technet: EMET 5.1 fundamentally broken on XP x64 and hence presumably on Server 2003 x64 Launching any EMET protected application on XP x64 will result in the following error message: The procedure entry point fopen_s could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll. However the application will still open and appears to work. Disabling all mitigations has no effect, only removing the application from the protected list stops the error from occurring but of course that defeats the whole purpose. As XP x64 is built on the codebase of Server 2003 x64 it is reasonable to assume that the same errors will occur there. Of the 20 protected applications I tested only Foxit Reader didn't throw an error but it turns out that's because the wrong application name is coded into EMET, it is listed as "Foxit Reader.exe" when it should be "FoxitReader.exe", no space. As EMET 5.0 seems to have disappeared (EMET 5.1 is now at 5.0's old location) I've uploaded my copy and linked to it.

Johnhc, Ponch is correct in that Adobe eventually got around to supporting x64 browsers and have now been doing so for a year or more. I found out that the links are dead on Wednesday afternoon (patch Tuesday is patch early Wednesday morning in my time zone) when I tried to grab the latest versions then I found the same page you did as my 2nd or 3rd search result. I just use Seamonkey's (firefox) dictionaries to check my spelling, although on the topic posts with all the bb code there are red squiggles everywhere.

Graphics capability looks like always being a problem with Virtual Machines, not least because the big money in virtualization is for servers. Why would you need more than 8MB video memory anyway? /Server mentality

Mouse integration is not perfect, as the guide notes the biggest impact is in games, some of which can effectively be unplayable unless mouse integration is disabled. As to the scroll wheel not working when mouse integration is on, that is expected behaviour, at least that's what happens to me. In regards to Samba shares I haven't had any problems accessing my (Mint 17) HTPC and as for DSClient I've never even considered connecting to active directory (not that I could test it).

I normally create a test install media the weekend before patch Tuesday just to test for incompatibilities in the newly released versions of the supported applications. That's when I came across the problem with VirtualBox, in trying to diagnose it I also found that if one uninstalls Slysoft's AnyDVD all of one's DVD drives disappear (yellow icon in device manager) - since reported and fixed. Microsoft has pulled KB2982791 (MS14-045 Kernel-Mode Drivers) due an issue where some computers won't restart, although it only seems to affect Windows 8.1 for now.

As this is not an operating system vulnerability and the CA system is hopelessly broken anyway it will not be fixed, hopefully they'll get it right next time. Applications The latest version of VirtualBox (4.3.14) has a major dll injection bug (main forum post has 440+ comments), in my case launching it results in the attached errors so stick with 4.3.12 for now. Microsoft has rather rudely kicked users (even paid) of old versions of Skype off the network, however the latest version crashes on launch with a DEP error. How they can use development machines that don't enforce AlwaysOn DEP is beyond me, so I've put in a direct link to the previous version.
