  1. I left it running last night and never got back to it, I'll get that message when I'm home again.
  2. Are you able to run the vbs script is you double-click it?
  3. Would it be possible for you to list the apps that are installed on your specialized image?
  4. Compre the "Inherit from parent the permission entries.." check box for the files in that folder for your syspreped and non-syspreped image. Before running sysprep I always verify/reapply security settings on any thing installed in C:\ exluding the Program Files, Windows and Users/Docs and Settings folder since the days of 2000. That's the way I was taught and I still do it to this day.
  5. comcc, Seeing as the app tells you to contact HP support, have you attempted to contact HP support? They may have an app that can recreate the recovery partition. Has anyone ever attempted to pick apart the recovery discs? I have a full IBM recovery disc that recreates the hidden partition and re-enables the F11 function. I may have to dig around there this weekend and see what I can come up with!
  6. "PEIMG /INF:C:\DRIVERS\NIC\*.INF C:\PEMOUNT\WINDOW" is the way I do it! I have my creation of WinPE scripted via a batch file I created. I've never had any issues with drivers before. Also, i let WinPE sit and came back to it and I got a weird error message. I'll come back with the massage in a few minutes.
  7. What happens if you drop ghost32.exe into %windir%\system32 and change Winpeshl.ini accordingly?
  8. They're all from the same OEM. So what you're saying is I can use a single product key for all of them? I haven't used Vista extensively, but that's what I do for XP. I have several OEM unattended CD's that I use for when I need to reformat an OEM PC. I use the customized Dell OEM disc on Dell PC's which I've never changed the key, and so on...
  9. Are they all from the same OEM? Even if they're not, you could just create difference ISO's for each OEM and use the OEM key from each Manufacturer.
  10. Wouldn't it be just a matter of integrating the driver into the WinPE install? That's what I do for Pointsec which I think is similar to SafeGuard.
  11. What file are you trying to run? Maybe there are some missing files needed for it to run properly.
  12. Yeah, something else is missing as I have Vista drivers for both the RTL8169 and Intel Pro/100 VM adapters and neither is working. The RTL8169 is a PCMICA card I popped in there to see if the problem was the onboard NIC. But I don't think so as I used WDS to push WinPE. So as it stands right now, I'm stumpped. Edit: I think I have a ThinkPad T23 that has the same Intel Pro/100 adapter, I'm going to try that in a few and see what happens.
  13. Here's the output: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4C59&SUBSYS_B1110E11&REV_00\4&45A7597&0&0008: Video Controller (VGA Compatible) PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_AC51&SUBSYS_004E0E11&REV_00\4&139E449D&0&18F0: PCI to CARDBUS Bridge PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_AC51&SUBSYS_004E0E11&REV_00\4&139E449D&0&19F0: PCI to CARDBUS Bridge PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8169&SUBSYS_816910EC&REV_10\5&26F5516F&0&0018F0: Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_11C1&DEV_0450&SUBSYS_04501468&REV_02\4&139E449D&0&20F0: PCI Simple Communications Controller PCI\VEN_125D&DEV_1988&SUBSYS_00940E11&REV_12\4&139E449D&0&48F0: Multimedia Audio Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1038&SUBSYS_00980E11&REV_42\4&139E449D&0&40F0: Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2448&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_42\3&61AAA01&0&F0 : PCI to PCI Bridge PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2482&SUBSYS_00300E11&REV_02\3&61AAA01&0&E8 : Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2484&SUBSYS_00300E11&REV_02\3&61AAA01&0&E9 : Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2487&SUBSYS_00300E11&REV_02\3&61AAA01&0&EA : Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_248A&SUBSYS_00300E11&REV_02\3&61AAA01&0&F9 : IDE Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_248C&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_02\3&61AAA01&0&F8 : PCI to ISA Bridge PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3575&SUBSYS_00300E11&REV_04\3&61AAA01&0&00 : PCI HOST Bridge PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3576&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_04\3&61AAA01&0&08 : PCI to PCI Bridge 15 matching device(s) found.
  14. WinPE 2.1 I'll give devcon a spin when I get a chance later today.
  15. I'm working on a Compaq Evo N600c laptop and WinPE is having trouble detecting the NIC. The WinPE image has all the latest and greating Intel Pro NIC drivers so I'm wondering what else I should look into. Has anyone used WinPE on this laptop or NIC?
  16. Sounds like a driver issue. When you create the image on a 755s, do you still add additional drivers?
  17. I'm working on a friends laptop and it's doing something very strange. It's a Pavilion 4800 and the problem I'm having is that while I'm in the BIOS, the laptop will turn itself off. While I'm in Windows, I don't have this problem. I've defragged and installed SP3 and not one problem. But any attempt made to access the BIOS and the laptop shuts itself off after a few seconds. Anyone seen anything like this?
  18. I think I may have found out what I did wrong! I think I may have grabbed the drivers from my VistaDrivers folder instead of my XPDrivers folder, I'm recreating now to see if that does it! Edit: Yep, that was the problem. Once I used the XP drivers, all was well!!!
  19. So I created a XP w/ SP3 CD which I included Intel and Broadcom network adapters. After installing XP, the correct drivers aren't being loaded. There's a NLDRV folder with seven folders underneath that one with the drivers. Here is what I have in the Last Session file for the drivers: [Drivers] K:\Drivers\Chipset\2008s4el.inf,0 K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ESB2 K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaStor_ESB2 K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ICH6M K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ICH7M K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaStor_ICH7MDH K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ICH7R K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaStor_ICH7DH K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaStor_ICH8M K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ICH8M K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ICH8R K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaStor_ICH8R K:\Drivers\Intel_SATARAID__32bit\iaahci.inf,iaAHCI_ICH9R K:\Drivers\PRO100\e100a325.inf,0 K:\Drivers\PRO1000\e1e6032.INF,0 K:\Drivers\PROXGB\ixe6032.inf,0 K:\Drivers\WinXP\b44win.inf,0 K:\Drivers\win_2k8_vista_32\b57nd60x.inf,0 What am I doing wrong?
  20. Have the winnt.sif join the PC to a workgroup while you have ComputerName=* and see if it still stops to prompt you for a name.
  21. Just let the install give it a random name and you should be able to rename it while on the domain. I have this in my winnt.sif ComputerName=*
  22. From what I can see in this file, all newly setup PC's join the domain with the same computer name of TEST? At what point do you rename the PC?
