Just for more information.. 1] Is the HD partitioned? 2] If so are you trying to do a dual boot? 3] If you are doing a dual boot is the partition that you are trying to install to a "Primary" partition?

I am not for sure why you want to do it this way but you can set up one LAN on 192.168.1.1 (255.255.255.0) and the other on say 192.1.168.1 (255.255.0.0) to get separation between the 2 LANs and then choose the one you want for your ISP.

What brand is the HDD?

So it works OK if you unplug the USB HD?
