  1. I know I havent given any hints or anything, but please bear with me, this week I am being pulled between 3 houses...house sitting for a friend, living with roommates, and helping my parents out...so as soon as I get everything Ive worked on in 1 central location, I will go through each of the setup's ive created and see what it can offer to people.
  2. you cant edit 64bit winntbbu.dll...you will need a 64bit resource hacker. currently, i dont know of any
  3. honestly, ive always followed a set of 4 rule...im sure you can put however many you want, but 4 is a good number, dunno why, but I never split more than that.
  4. actually, what i do is when im done installing, I run a xcopy command at the end that copies the entire cd minus the $OEM$ folder...I have a txt file with the exclusion for the txt file itself and the $OEM$ folder...ill prolly add winnt.sif to that list also...so that way nobody can copy my cd structure in its entirety or have my unnatended settings. This is only useful if I physically install the cd myself.

    windows FD

I hate to do this, but windows fd is a warezed product and not supported on the board
  6. actually, that sounds a lot like what I went through for morpheus ultra...lol...it would write some stuff to commondocs folder and also some reg keys...a good way to find out what is needed to register silently is to unregister the program...run inctrl5 and have it run the program...then once you have regged it, close it and let inctrl5 do its thing...it should tell you if any files were added/changed and what reg keys have been changed/added since registering...I had to do this DVD X Utilities...thats how I found out that some dlls and sys files were actually text documents. Do not use inctrl5 to do everything at once...as you will get some unneeded info doing both, so only use inctrl5 when youre about to reg the program.
  7. Also, there is a lot more that goes into building an inno setup than what has been posted, and I may post some hints for people that want to do what benners and I have done. Maybe I can even find something benners doesnt include yet but I doubt it LOL. So, I will load up my cd and look through my scripts and see what I can find...
  8. wise usually supports "/S" make sure its capitalized.
  9. wmaplugin is no longer needed, or at least I just tried to move a wma file over to an audio cd and it did it fine without installin the plugin..also, this hasnt been updated since dec 2004...
  10. if it does search for more files that arent in the msi, then its a problem with the msi and not with the method of installing...because everything is contained in the msi...from what i can tell jeeva does not physically remove anything from the msi or does any editing to it, so it should be a complete msi, and should contain everything for the program. try jeevas solution...it seems youve tried 2 other peoples, but this looks more into what you want since no edits were done to the msi
  11. also, just a suggestion, but i remove the miversion stuff too...sometimes when unpacking inno setup installers, the minversion doesnt get extracted correctly
  12. yea, reg_expand_sz doesnt get entered correctly...it gets imported as a string and the all the hex numbers are the data, which isnt correct, for any of those, you need to input the actual string...for instance %systemroot%\system32 instead of the hex numbers...Also, if a regfile points to the hard drive, try using something like {app} or {win} or {sys} so that c:\ or whatever isnt hardcoded. a good idea is to look at the inno setup help file and goto index...that gives you most of what you can do. Update...if your building a install program...when all done, have istool add a uninstall icon...that way it is accessible through start menu...i hate having tons of programs installed and arp takes forever to load...and if anyone wants the code I use for urls, I can post that too...it uses {groupname} and is universal on all scripts. Blah, here it is anyways...just add this to your script...it is an example, and you will have to change the http:// [INI] Filename: {app}\{groupname}.url; Section: InternetShortcut; Key: URL; String: http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf [Icons] Name: {group}\{cm:ProgramOnTheWeb,{groupname}}; Filename: {app}\{groupname}.url [UninstallDelete] Type: files; Name: {app}\{groupname}.url
  13. great job...glad to see another guide from you...
  14. what can i say, i like to have a small setup progam that install exactly the way I want it too...and I probably wont add adaware 1.06 until its finalized...i hate rc's
  15. use inctrl5 to find out what all ccleaner original installer puts its files... I hear ya benners...I did one for dvd x utilities...had like 5 programs...thats not listed because it isnt on the dvd i looked at to make the list...i have some others ive done, but yea...dvd x utilities was a pain until I ran inctrl5 to find out that it actually changes files when you register it...like 3 dlls and 2 sys files, they did a good job on making it almost impossible to install an already regged program...but intelligence will prevail...like i said, ive seen almost every type of install and have been able to modify it...there was one I did for a Fastream product, but in the end, I think I deleted the whole thing...but it installed a service, so I had to figure out all the info for that...but yea, some are really a pain. Also, DVD Shrink is being continued sorta...a lot of people use the dvd shrink backbone...like easydvdshrink...or a4dvdshrink...both those are exactly like dvd shrink...i have both because on one pc, dvd shrink would turn the screen black and couldnt see anything, so I had to include a 2nd one.
  16. Powerhouse, the only way you could possibly get that message is if you packed the msi in a 7zip archive...hence the 7zxxx after temp...which is normal...norwhere does the original poster say to pack the msi with 7zip...but if you just run the command for the msi during runonceex, it should copy the msi to the correct place...it may not...i dunno...but really all you would have to do is copy the msi over to wherever you want (like the adobe main folder) during your UA, and then you will be able to make changes. That or stop unchecking something and then checking it back on...
  17. No, I have not built spybot...but it cant possibly be as hard as some of the ones Ive done...seriously, try building morpheus ultra where it automatically inserts the registered stuff for you...quite complicated...in the beginning I just extracted whatever install i wanted to change, then wrote the iss script to handle it...used reshack to capture the image of the program and added that...now, what I have done later is add all the url's and some other stuff that isnt really needed, but I believe to be a completed install it was needed...stuff like the app version...this is a list of what all I have rebuilt 7zip 4.20, 911cd, a4dvdshrinker, abyss, bulletproof spyware thingie, carcare, ccleaner, crystal xp visual style, dvdshrink, easytracker, everest corporate and ultimate, freesmtp, grabit, idsuite, innosetup, iroffer, istool, ite, kiri, mailwasher, mirc, morpheus, no1vc, notepad2, offline commander, active perl, winrar, winavi dvd copy, winavi video converter, ultraiso, thegodfather, tauscan, spamaid, SHARM, quickbfc, and a custom bulk installer for these items...cdimage, cdshell, flexible renamer, inctrl5, keepass, adaware, pebuilder, shortcut, ultrafxp, vcdcontrol, wassociate, winimage, xpcleaner, audioshellext, avipreview, cmdcmx, contextattrib, cpext, foldersize, fullsource, gmailfs, hardlinker, hashtab, hijackthis, innounp, internetnotepad, keyfinder, nircmd, openselectedurl, purrint, sdeextensions, selall, toolbarcop, tsrsizer, vdk, and hwun (will be adding an installshield decompiler soon...found a great one called winpack300b)...and nlite...and before I get jumped about nlite, the reason I did this one is because I did not want to have to copy cdimage over to the data dir...also, I am not sure, but I think I added a custom icon too...but dont hold me to that...So those are the setups that i broke and created an innosetup for. I believe I am done for all the apps I could ever possibly want to put on a UA cd...just waiting for someone to tell me how to after installing programs and on reboot after that, how to get the person to enter their own cdkey...Also, need to create specific uninstallers for the bulk pack...and spamaid needs to get their website up so I can add that and finish that one out.
  18. yea, if the exe isnt unpackable, i use inctrl5 to figure out where the files go and what reg changes the setup makes, then rebuild...I have rebuilt close to 50 apps with inno...all specifically to my liking...one thing ive noticed...almost no setup programs use lzma/ultra and solid compression ultra...wonder why...I always rebuild inno setup apps just to get the size down...and another thing, the app makers include sys files for like every windows, or stuff that overwrites what windows installed, so I remove all those...the reason being is because i use ryans pack which is going to have the most up to date files... Also, if anyone wants an app rebuilt, either post here, pm me, or I may make a new topic for requests...one note, the setup cannot be an msi...not that msi's cant be done, just really no reason to do so.
  19. xp64 is 2k3sp1x64...its still a 64 bit structure.
  20. is there a way to make a menu for a couple of commands on the right click menu? Ive searched but all that does it bring up things about right click additions and I dont wanna go through 100's of pages to find it...but basically, it is like the winrar context menu...where you right click, go down to winrar, and it opens up another menu with all the stuff you selected for the context menu...any help is greatly appreciated.
  21. can someone release the msi without the need for copying photoshop.cer...the reason I ask is when doing an admin install, it complains about only that file...even though it exists...so im thinking about copying it over once adobe has installed...but I would like an msi without the need for that file so that it doesnt complain during the silent install. any help is greatly appreciated. Nevermind, did it myself...saved 30mb (by using 7zip on the admin source and creating a sfx installer)...silent install goes without a hitch using admin install source...
  22. New 7zip out 4.19 beta changelog http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=328995 download http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=14481
  23. i clicked everything...dashboard professional (i believe is whats its called) the only thing I did not install was the antivirus and anything else that created a popup during install...(since it wouldnt be unattended if you had to click something) I also didnt install any of the media players...bsplayer or mpc...since i use wmp10...no need for them. I think thats the only things i didnt select...but honestly if you follow the steps for saving the inf, youll have your own settings...and maybe i didnt click some things, but there hasnt been anything that wmp10 couldnt play.
  24. yousendit is actually better than rapidshare as rapidshare only allows a 30mb download, and yousendit allows whatever size.
