  1. that would be great seapagan...i havent had a chance to look at orca...the one time i did before it looked like a lot to handle...but hey, its still smaller :-) plus I have some methods for getting it smaller (i think, would like to try). SIDE NOTE: Wouldnt it be possible to have Bonjour set to disabled in the msi? I dont think there is another method for adding a service, so somewhere should be where itunes sets bonjour to auto...maybe not diabled, but at least manual or something.
  2. Wellll! Happy 1-year closer to death day...j/k Happy bday.
  3. hmm, well it seems using winstallLE is not a good method for editing the msi...I would appreciate it if you could take a stab at it...I could package up what I have so far and put on rapidshare...virtual install is what I am using...I dont think that would be a problem because I cant think of anything QT would install that would require a real machine (itunes has a check for whether you have a cdr or not...i think, since there are about 6 gear* files but not all of them get installed)
  4. its a self extracting archive...i dont see how this is any harder for you
  5. wow dude...youre really good at this...that was the error I was having...although I only have a msi file, nothing else...well now that we can use the 270KB itunessetup.exe, I have the msi, exe, ini, and language stuff, Im prolly gonna remove the isscript11.msi since itunes already has one. Well, now to go back and test the install. *Well, looks like isscript11.msi MUST exist, so thats in there too...but it seems to be working with an extracted msi (used wininstallLE to expand the msi)
  6. I just wanted to say awesome job...I hope its understood that my posts werent meant in any way to deter you from making this for us all SIDE NOTE: just wondering since you removed the extra languages in this if you could possibly take on quicktime.msi? I tried removing the languages and get some error about QTComponents not being accessible, without removing any language, I can get the 7z file down to 9.5mb (not bad!)...Wonder if iTunesSetup.exe could be used with Quicktime...Ill prolly try in a few minutes and see what happens, it really should just be a loader that does whatever setup.ini tells it to do. Wellllll, that works, itunessetup.exe is just a loader but somehow the mst comes into play because it errors out saying it cant access the temp directory...I may look at the mst and see what I can figure out...but honestly if I could just get the languages removed, that would be awesome.
  7. Ive actually thought about this (may be why I havent tested it out yet) but I was looking into 7zipping all the files and extracting them and running the commands, but the problem would be if setup starts before it finishes.
  8. i dont deal with any of that...i edited setup.ini in the setup folder and i have it run the transforms and some other stuff so all I have to do is run setup.exe with no switches.
  9. very true...also something I have noticed is that in vmware, itunes does not install the cd burner stuff correctly...it installs it enough so that the prog doesnt complain, but doing a search of gear*.* only turns up 2 files when there are around 8 files in the cab. Just a note if youre gonna erase the cab files.
  10. did you make unattended.mst? You have to use office resource kit to buil the transform file
  11. yes thats true, but looking inside the cab files, i dont think there is an install for them...i dont have an ipod, so i dont need that cab file anyways...im gonna test extracting the cab files and moving to their proper spot and see what happens. Also, I said it was a 5 minute test...I wasnt looking to do anything real strenuous as I didnt have the time. Quicktime installs fine this way, but you are right, itunes does not...now to find out what needs to be done so that itunes doesnt complain.
  12. well, i did my own testing (without editing the msi file). You only need to keep the msi and cab files, everything else can get trashed...first run isscript11.msi and install that since its doubtful that its been installed yet. Then run the itunes.msi using ISSETUPDRIVEN=0 and it will silently install (well, it looks the same as using /qb-!) and its installed. I 7zipped it and got it down to 12mb...but im sure with some editing it can get further reduced, but that is my 5 minute test. As a side note, i decided to include quicktime with mine and all together it is a 28.1mb file, so saved about 6mb...
  13. for the msi..you just need to add ISSETUPDRIVEN=0 when running it and it shouldnt complain about setup.exe...so like quicktime.msi ISSETUPDRIVEN=0 (if it gives an error, change it to 1) and maybe a /qb-! for silent install
  14. k, well first off the itunes.pref should technically be the same, so maybe copying itunes.pref to both locs would be something to add to its.cmd...also, you cannot 7z all the files you listed because you have an archive in an archive...what you need to do is extract its.7z and then select all the files and 7zip that up. so the final its.7z should have quiktime.qtp, itunes.pref, its.cmd, and all the files that are in its.7z. then it might work...if not then it could be something in the 7z file...also, post your cmd file.
  15. spiritpyre...just a question, but is there a possibility that I can get some of these without the installer (your extensions, I mean)...the only reason I ask is because I have a package that installs all my shell extensions and orphan items, I would just like to keep them in the same package (plus itll reduce numerous runonceex entries)...the ones I am talking about are fileext and selectall...if not its cool, just wondering.
  16. grrrr, supposed to say laplink... has instructions at this page
  17. for today, id say packard bell has the worst customer service...oh wait...are they still around??? hmmm, wonder why. its a joke guys...Creative Labs by far is the worst
  18. well, i have learned that the alternatives out there are just not where they need to be. Ive installed both the qt and ra alternatives and everytime (not just once and not just one install) I can never play mov files or ra files without downloading qt or ra seperately and AGAIN (I say again cuz I already downloaded the alternatives) so I will never again use the alternatives
  19. uhm, no, its a wise package...or at least last I used it, which was the day 437 came out.
  20. you can get seperate...just select that you have win98 and itll download qt without itunes...though if youre gonna hhave both, the itunes installer is the best bet because using the itunes only setup and qt only, youll get a size of around 28mb. I made my own autoit for itunes+quicktime and it works perfectly...get both itunes and qt, and size is only 21mb
  21. still havent tried it out yet, but i do think this should be stickied or merged...or something to keep it at the top...a bunch of people say this method works better than the previous version...so maybe the old should be replaced with the new?
  22. IndigoRose support page - great place for finding help on AMS Also, there are ways to remove the default audio files that get built into the app as I have removed mine and receive no errors or anything. Click and High.ogg I believe are the files under the audio folder...also you can try removing folders that dont have anything in them to reduce what gets zipped into the final executable. Ive successfully removed all my folders except images because I have a background, but your results will prolly vary.
