  1. well, this is interesting...in the setupx.exe file it says that there is a file that will not be available until Oct (the release date of nero 7) so it could be possible that this version is impossible to silent install...which actually would be quite logical since the only reason to use this version is to test out the programs and not really the setup program (as Im pretty sure they have that down pat and I havent seen it change in quite a while, sotheyll prolly just use the old setupx.exe from nero 6)...but yea, from what I can tell, there isnt a way to silent install. At least not through setupx.exe
  2. well, the first couple of lines will just say something about not for dos, win32 only or something along those lines...but what i would do is put it in a hex editor and do a search for silent...and if that doesnt work, then s i l e n t (the spaces are actually "00" in the hex editor,,,and search for that...of if someone would like to post just the setupx.exe file, i could look at it...also, which one are you running (cuz there are 2, or there should have been)
  3. try runnin setupx.exe /? see what that does...you could also use a hex editor and see if there is anything that resembles a silent install...I hope this isnt what the final will look like..
  4. try running the msi with ISSETUPDRIVEN=0. I have no way of testing this nor do I know for a fact, I downloaded the whole huge file and about a day later deleted it for the reasons I stated above, so I have no way of testing anything...I can just give ideas.
  5. there is a config file...i forget where, do a search for config.* and youll find it...but it looks like quite a few options can be used there, tho i have no idea how to call it because even tho i set some things in there, the installer doesnt automatically pull from it.
  6. dude, wth does that have to do with nero 7? eirogge, Im sure youve heard of such things as beta testers? well nero uses them also...now im not saying I am one, but I have tested the program only to find out in its beta form I must warn everyone from using it. I dont know how many times I had to reinstall/repair the program...every time I rebooted nero home and burning rom would always have an issue and id have to repair. so for those beta testing, I can only say the best bet is to wait until nero releases it.
  7. ill try it out again on a new system, been using an already installed system to test on...im not getting an error during install, its when i first run itunes and it asks me to associate which i pick none, and about whether i want it to keep the library up to date, and to goto web store, then after that, it says the cd/dvd burning registry isnt right...but ill try it on a new system.
  8. it looks to be a installshield setup file, so I would say /s or /s/v"/QN"
  9. i havent used the silent one...just the one you made...yea, its kind of weird, i dunno, ive tested it quite a bit. I downloaded the setup files from rapidshare again yesterday just to be sure it wasnt something i had done.
  10. using either itunes installer, i keep getting an error that says the registry settings for burning cds and dvds is missing. Please reinstall iTunes...if I click anything (like Next or Cancel), it never shows up again...but does anyone have a fix for this? Tested it after reboot, same error.
  11. for those using the desktop shortcut command and are wondering why it doesnt work (it didnt for me) the reason is you have to enclose the reponse in quotes...so INSTALL_DESKTOP_SHORTCUTS="FALSE"
  12. you use repartition = no...set it to yes. hmmm, nm, you said you had already tried that... test it out removing filesystem=*...also, switch back repartition and autopartition.
  13. are you using bullets exact config? or have you made changes?
  14. yes, it does PS: The parser of the Winnt.sif file is the same that's used for Winbom.ini and most other answer files used in setup....theoretically, unless Microsoft disabled it in one file and not the other, most things should work across the files the problem is....microsoft has a hard time documenting it's features at times... - from Alanoll
  15. yea, i asked him...on another note...good find bullet, i would have never known about DiskConfig in winnt.sif
  16. ok, yea, i noticed the installer didnt work...well, i did finally get it all extracted and it working...it only save 2mb, but i will offer it up if someone wants it. Im looking at combining the itunes and quicktime into a silent installer and would also offer that package also. (some things will be combined...this is really only for those who dont use qta [like me]).
  17. wasnt this already posted on the front page?
  18. Did you change this? according to some msi documentation I read, ALLUSERS=1 sets to all users and ALLUSERS=2 sets to user profile if you do not have admin rights...but ALLUSERS=0 doesnt do anything...I tried ALLUSERS= and still nothing.
  19. i gotta goto bed...but will post as soon as I wake up
  20. I extract the files from the msi then 7zip it up...cant be done with itunes...but QT allows it...winstallle has an option to expand the package, and i end up with a program files and system32 dir and a 3mb msi...take that and package it with the excess files and you can get it down to 8.91mb...i dunno why but you can achieve a smaller size with an extracted msi.
  21. i changed yours...since im gonna be using your msi...winstallle has an option to copy package, so i do that so that I have one edited version and one unedited (yours). EDIT: Got QT7 (your version) down to 8.91MB
  22. thank you...nothing against your installers or anything, just like all stuff like that to be in one install package.
  23. I tested this out and ended up with C:\Start Menu\Programs\Winamp\Winanmp.lnk
  24. I found bonjour and gearsecurity services in winstallle...gonna see if I can perfrom a basic edit and the msi still work. In winstallle its under services and both are set to autostart...if it does work, ill send the msi to someone to host...putting it to theonly other option sets it to manual EDIT: ok, that worked. so if anyone wants it, I can 7zip and send.
