@a06lp are you applying at t-12? @prathapml whats so bad is that people actually go through the trouble of renaming the txt to a reg...if theyre gonna do that, why not go through the file first...thats what is amazing to me.

@ddShadow, good find...I almost always set those through the app...but its gonna be nice to not have to do that anymore...and whats funny...those are the exact ones I set, nothing less, nothing more (except the new lead out one...cuz havent installed the new version) @simonsays...guess I havent said this in this thread...but nice howto...one thing...you might want to think about adding the first post to the stickied application switches, or something like that...I always use this method...and Im sure most people would like to use this method...as far as I know, its universal...unless nero changes something in their silent installs...im just thinking of how to keep it at the top for new people coming in the future...

RyanVM Windows XP SP2 Update Pack
evilvoice replied to RyanVM's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@kelsenellenelvian, yes...just make sure to delete the old cab and in_ file...and also make sure to update txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf with the new names of the cab and inf...as I believe the last pack was named differently than this one...but yea, shouldnt be too hard to update to the new pack...as far as overwriting other, things, go ahead and overwrite with the new files. @Alpheratz, the pack should not have done anything to your install of msn/plus...are you sure that the files are on the cd - i had trouble once where I recorded an iso and yahoo was corrupted, so it didnt install...A few people have tested this out, and I can assure you I had no trouble getting msn msgr and msgplus installed... -

Honestly, you prolly dont even need to do that...and the reason is that most of the people that DO edit those files are already gonna know what to be on the lookout for...plus your svcpack.inf is compressed...and i believe the instructions here say to leave it uncompressed, so that shouldnt cause problems...but, yea, I would just put a little note saying (this pack does include svcpack.in_ and sys_oc.in_ so if you have edited those files, dont copy the ones in the pack over) something like that....course, I already knew they were going to be overwritten ...Great job though... PS (whats this NAME CHANGE stuff...LOL just messin with ya) -

I would like to cast a vote for instead of having svcpack.inf and sysoc.inf in your pack, that you include instructions...what if people actually already have their svcpack.inf, then they copy yours over and it overwrites what they have done...like mp10 or dotnetfx...also, those who have other optional components, if they copy yours over, the one they already edited will be gone, and you may get lots of questions as to what happened...just personally, I would include instructions for those files, instead of the files. THANKS RyanVM lol. -

did you paste the wrong article...or maybe quoted the wrong person...I did a ctrl+f and put in both values that illusions was talking about and neither one is found in the document.

which folders can I safely delete from i386?
evilvoice replied to Professor Frink's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
it should be noted that if you delete winntupg folder, you can not install the recovery console...most people dont delete this folder either, but its needed for the same thing and that folder is compdata...though I dunno if you can delete that folder and windows will install still. -

evilvoice replied to zoobooboozoo's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
you need bootfix.bin in i386 folder on your cd. -
how about...Doom...LOL...j/k uhm...its hard to say, I dont really play games a whole lot...mostly gamehouse games, and those are getting old.
-
nerocheck i leave running...only because it checks the compatibility of your plugins...if you add plugins to do things, and one of them is wrong, or not working, nerocheck should tell you...it doesnt use a lot of memory, so I leave it running.

ok, i need a tweak...is there a tweak for setting a desktop appearance? the files still go in themes and theres an msstyle file also, but I dunno where its stored in the registry...so if anyone knows how to apply a custom appearance, I would like to know...(this is when you right click desktop, properties, appearance tab, under windows and buttons. EDIT: nm, I just made a theme file for it...for making a theme file, make sure you set my computer/my documents/netowkr places/recycle bin empty and full icons to your theme, or it messes things up...

Editing WINNTBBU.DLL For Dummies
evilvoice replied to b0r3d's topic in Setup Billboard Screens for Windows
ive been looking for it too...hell Im even thinking about paying someone to find it LOL....i cant find that or the installing network string...its gotta be something dealing with the files setup loads to install those things...just gotta figure out what file its calling...it could be winnt32.exe for the copying files and stuff, but I dunno...might wanna look at txtsetup.sif/layout.inf/dosnet.inf cause I think thats where it "builds file list" from -
roxon...look for cascading control panel...control panel is in i believe, everyones start menu...or do you mean in the programs menu? honestly, i would use cascade control panel.
-
well, I guess here goes...I do not take credit for any of the tweaks, none of this is my own work...I have taken some from here and there, fixed some that didnt seem to work, and even combined some methods for one to work for another I wanted...but anyways, with that being said, this is what I apply to every machine I install...one note...if some people have dsl, some of the settings need to be edited...usually they have in them the word dsl...if you set it from 3 or 4 to 2 your dsl will work...rename txt to rar...since it seems I cant upload rar files...btw what the hell kind of file can I upload...it seems like everything I try to attach always comes back with "You cannot upload this type of file" NOTE: I know the detail with status bar is wrong...it enables detail view, but not the status bar...and a warning...before people think they have found an ultraiso key in my reg file, I urge you not to apply it or you could render your ultraiso as non working (I changed the reg key around so it doesnt work...I dont know if ultraiso has a "delete program if wrong key is entered and past trial date" but thats why i urge you not to try it and the attachment has been changed so people dont apply the reg by accident).
-
@prathapml...you of all people should know this...HKU reg keys should not be used...there are quite a few in the newly released reg tweaks...please, either find their location in HKLM or HKCU or take them out...and at everyone looking for reg tweaks or posting reg tweaks, be aware that while HKU may work on your current install of windows, it almost definitely will not work on a new install as the SID changes, and therefore you might end up with a corrupted windows...This goes for everyone as I have looked at almost all posts and a few have an HKU entry in their attachments...Im just trying to help people out...and if I feel like it, I will post mine up...I just havent decided whether I want to or not...mostly because mine is not seperated or commented like everyone else's seems to be, but if people do want to see it, I am more than willing to post mine up...It includes quite a bit...almost none are repeated (except for HKCU/HKLM dual settings) but seriously, HKU should never be used in an unattended cd... And if you wanna know the first place it oocurs, goto where cache is set for 2mb
-
actually, it has always happened to me...like from the time I started reg tweaking on unattended..but I cant say I like the MFU start menu...and my display picture has been gone since then also...both of which just seem to not matter to me.

BrainTwister > CopyRight > Safe Disc
evilvoice replied to Astalavista's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
AFAIK cdshell has a copy protection...look into that www.cdshell.org...this was asked of Mike to crate a way so people COULD NOT copy your cd...it has been implemented in cdshell for a while, so I suggest you take a look at that since it seems about the only way...but do realize that nothing is completely secure...I think there is mention that somebody could break the protection, but youd be back from lunch by then.
