I'm working on it. Please be patient. Well to start, if you take a look at v7.x and v8.x micro releases on updatepack.nl, you'll notice that none files in the installer are UPX compressed. The reason for this is the "Shannon Limit" (see link in my previous post for further reading). It's the same reason why an MP3 doesn't compress very much, however, a text file of the same size might have an enormous compression rate. Compressed files, no matter the degree of compression, don't compress well a second time. You can test this yourself. Take your Nero.exe file (or any file that can be UPX compressed) and UPX compress it, and then try sending it to your favorite archiving program (e.g., 7zip) with the highest compression rate settings. Then do the same thing without UPX compression. I can guarantee you that the one without UPX compression will yield a smaller archive size. Your installer might have a method for UPX compressing files post-install. OK, thanks for explanation. Cheers

All runtimes are removed. I don't understand this with UPX compression. Why I would not use it? If you created the addon correctly just add it on Hotfix page of nLite. Cheers

What do you think when you say 'interesting'? I noticed once those uninstall entries (but I thought they appeared because some of my manual entries applied when I was doing tests), but I reduced written registry entries with Micro version, and I think that those removed entries were causing the problem. Lite version still has it. I have one question for you. I'll PM you. Cheers
-
We'll see about that. This will require more time, since I need to see which file are necessary and which registry entries are written. BTW, what error are you getting with original Nero installer? I never had any problem. Even if I had, I used General Clean tool and everything worked fine. Try to use General Clean Tool more then once. Even if Nero is not detected by the tool, just run it, select check box "Clean all" and do cleaning. Cheers

Office 2000/XP/2003/2007 Slipstreamer - version 1.7.4
mara- replied to mara-'s topic in Microsoft Office
There is nothing wrong with slipstream. But you screen shot does not tell me anything. If you can, just for testing, start Office installation with no switches and with no MST, so we can see on which file is Office complaining. When error appears, make new screen shot so text with error is visible. Cheers -
There is a change log in the first post. Cheers

Office 2000/XP/2003/2007 Slipstreamer - version 1.7.4
mara- replied to mara-'s topic in Microsoft Office
Please upload your log of the Slipstreamer, located in folder where tool is installed. Screen shoot of prompt for original CD would be also helpful. Cheers -
New version of Micro installer is uploaded. Size reduced to 29 MB. No Multilanguage version yet. I think that I'll have some free time next week, so I'll try to build at least Micro Multilanguage installer. Cheers
-
What's the problem? Both links works fine. I can't provide mirror, my upload speed is slow. I'll see what I can do, but Ahead made files for this Nero version really big. I even removed some resources in Micro Version, but size was reduced maybe 2 MB after compressed. Read here. BTW, those files are not related to uninstall.exe. Maybe your system is infected with something, and Avira is not some good antivirus, but I don't want to discuss that here. Cheers

So your using Vlite with a BETA OS for which it wasnt even designed to be used on and Vlite's buggy? whistling.gif You're a fool. Don't waste anyone's time here if you have nothing but sarcasm to share. W7 installed perfectly fine on two laptops as has XP SP3. Its not a coincidence vlite is causing issues with both o/s on this laptop now. Don't tell me crap that the o/s is beta because it installed perfectly fine on two other o/s that did not need vlite. Chadi, first read the forum rule 7.b here. Second, the guy you offended is absolutely right. vLite is not designed for Win 7, Win 7 is still in beta stage, and no one will create vLite similar tool for it until it goes to RTM. So, don't expect some big support for Win 7. Cheers

If I can remember good, in order to use vLite with Windows 7, you should not remove Manual Installation, and you should not use Unattended page in vLite. Cheers

Problem with Nero installation after XP x64 update
mara- replied to kp380lv's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
You did not give any info, so don't expect any help. You need to describe what is happening, which error Nero gives? Cheers -
Multilanguage installer will contain all languages. But, I don't know will I be able to finish it till end of the week, since some of my exams are coming and I will not have much time, but I'll give my best to finish it soon. Cheers
-
It will be very soon. I'm not having much time, but I'll try to finish it this week. Antivirus can be related, but you need to give me more details what's wrong. What do you mean when you say installing fail? I'm running Lite installer on Vista x64 with no problems. Cheers
-
This is not from Lite installer. The rest of it is false alarm. I'm really start to hate all antivirus company's. Everything made with AutoIt is classified as a virus. You can safely use Lite installer. It does not contain viruses, that is just a false alarm. Cheers

[2009] Favorite Anti-Malware application
mara- replied to Tarun's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
Well, I agree that common sense keeps you out of trouble, and that's case with me, but if I sometimes got infected with a malware, Super AntiSpyware cleaned it very good. It surely detect more malware then any other anti-malware tool. Spybot S&D is pretty good, but they are acting non serious, when classifying the malware. Cheers -
Yes, your command is correct, but I really don't know why you get that prompt. I'll investigate, but I don't promise anything. Cheers

@ DMD61 Thanks for the tip. I'll see to add that. @midiboy That's really strange. I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 and I never had that pop-up. It is strange, why it shows temp path, where files are extracted as problem. Maybe there is a problem with how WPI launch it. I noticed that you use CMD /C command to launch some program. Do you launch Nero Lite in the same way? Try to launch it directly as shown in first post. Cheers

You need to download updates for your languages. Also, that list is not updated for long time. Follow link I gave in my previous post. Download that tool, and look for updates you need in help file. But, don't forget to download for your language, since that help file also have English updates. Cheers -
The link MPalmz gave shows that Vista RTM is faster then Vista SP1. This can't be true. SP1 showed some performance increase and stability improvement. Any comments on this? Cheers
-
Yeah, all languages will be available in the new year. Also, Ahead made this more complicated then I thought. In order everything to work correctly Nero Lite needs to be installed to C:\ drive. If installed on other drive, links in the program wont work. For example, shortcut in Nero Express, "Switch to Nero BurningROM" will not work. I did not noticed any other problems. Anybody here installed Nero on other drive then C:\ having some problems? Happy New Year to everybody! Cheers
-
Yes, that appears. It is probably possible to disable it with the registry. I'll try to figure it out. If someone else know how to disable it, post here. Cheers

Thank you for explaining the method of integration of Nero 9 I followed your instructions, I created the self with WinRAR and entered the command silent and everything works regularly. The program responds better speed than the full version. But I have something important to ask how can I do to build or where to find the version of nero_lite_installer with Italian language? Sincerely thank you and happy new year You are welcome. There is no Italian language yet, but I'll make separate installer which will contain all other languages. I'll do it in the new year. Cheers
