Royale Theme just WON'T apply! *after search*
mazin replied to Adiel's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@Adiel What's new bro? -
This is the official theme repackaged by ToBe. Quite good. I use it for myself.
-
I said CHECKPREV=0 to be used with NSW not NIS!
-
I'll zip the files of StasrtUp disk so you can copy them directly to your floppy. No need to winme_startup_disk.exe! Wait for an email from me.
-
I install WMP10 the same way I installed WMP9: start /wait %systemdrive%\Install\WMP10\mp10setup.exe /C:"setup_wm.exe /Q /R:N /NoPID /DisallowSystemRestore"

ACDSee 7 PowerPack (build 47) Update (free) INFO - DDL - Size: 2.73 MB After installing the update, I had this: (Help --> About ACDSee)

@asaintsfan According to your PM, let's revise the correct steps. I hope this helps. On another computer, do the following: 1- Insert a floppy disk into drive A. 2- Run winme_startup_disk.exe 3- When the image finishes copying to the floppy, take the floppy out. This floppy is now a StartUp disk. 4- Rename NTOSKRNL.EX_ to NTOSKRNL.cab, then right-click NTOSKRNL.cab and extract with WinZip. ntoskrnl.exe is extracted. 5- Insert a new floppy disk into drive A. Copy ntoskrnl.exe to the new floppy. Now, on your PC: 1- Turn your PC on. Hit "Delete" button on your keyboard to enter to BIOS setup. (or whatever procedure your PC requires to enter to BIOS setup) 2- Let boot priority be to the floppy and save the changes. Turn your PC off. 3- Insert your first floppy disk (StartUp disk) into drive A. Turn your PC on. 4- Your PC should boot from the floppy, either you choose CD-ROM support or not. 5- When you get the prompt A:\>, take out the floppy and insert the other one (of ntoskrnl.exe). 6- Type dir, then press ENTER. 7- Type copy ntoskrnl.exe C:\WINNT\system32\, then press ENTER. (you can try without that slash if copying fails) 8- Take the floppy out. Restart your PC. That should be it. I'm assuming your system drive is C: and ntoskrnl.exe is less than 1.44 MB in size. Let me know if the problem is solved.

Thanks for the info.

I sent you NTOSKRNL.EX_ for Win2000 (without service packs)--I found my original CD. Decompress NTOSKRNL.EX_, then put it on a separate floppy.
-
Here's a WinMe StartUp disk (780 KB). You need a single pre-formatted floppy disk to extract the image to. Before you can boot this way, enter to your BIOS setup, and let boot priority be to the floppy.

Doesn't this release need a serial to be entered at installation time like the Pro version?

Well! I'll be boycotting this topic untill the other topic is open again. No vote!

what would you charge for pc repair reates, etc...

People, who started their IT job 12+ years ago, made alot of money. The labor market condition, that time, was in favor of IT professionals--numerous jobs/few profs. Now, conditions have been changed. IT, public and private, schools are everywhere. Customized PCs have been wide-spread. No more shortage in profs. So, the equilibrium price of doing a job is now down. Forces of demand/supply are not limited to IT field. It's the nature of any other market, too. A wise IT specialist should have additional talents to do other jobs, besides. -
ntoskrnl.exe is supposed to be in C:\WINNT\system32\ntoskrnl.exe! On WinXP-Pro-SP2 (what I have now!), it's 2.07 MB. This can't fit on a floppy. But, if Win2000's ntoskrnl.exe can fit on a floppy, then turn your PC on and boot with a win98 (or WinMe) StartUp disk. When you get the PROMPT, take out your StartUp disk, then insert the other. Copy ntoskrnl.exe into C:\WINNT\system32\ BTW, I have the compressed NTOSKRNL.EX_ of Win2000-SP4. It's 755 KB. Hope it helps.

It's, also, useful to re-use your Thumbs.ini because it keeps all your settings. It's found here: C:\Program Files\Thumbs6\Thumbs.ini Also, it could be sufficient to have your reg file with these entries only: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cerious Software Inc.\ThumbsPlus\6.0\SeparateUserPrefs] @="0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cerious Software Inc.\ThumbsPlus\6.0\Usercode] @="xxx-serial-xxx" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cerious Software Inc.\ThumbsPlus\6.0\Usercount] @="1" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cerious Software Inc.\ThumbsPlus\6.0\Username] @="xxx-name-xxx" There are repeated entries under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cerious Software.... I don't know if they should be imported as well.

No! There's a direct download link for it, posted by prathampl somewhere on this forum.
