I'm not talking about clicking a link. I'm talking about highlighting text on a webpage and dragging it down (or up or sideways or whateverways) so that google will google exactly what I highlighted in a new tab. Left click and drag only highlights more. Right click and drag only opens a blank tab. EDIT - Nevermind. I have to highlight, right mouse click and then manually select search in the context menu. Maxthon is better in this respect.

Not really unless I'm missing something here. Highlight some text on a webpage and then drag it down. It does nothing except highlight more text.

I just sampled Opera. It's quite nice, but misses a nice feature that maxthon has out of the box. As Camarade_Tux said, "With Maxthon, if you click on a link and drag it somewhere on your page, it will open in a new window." Actually, if you highlight text on a webpage, and then drag it down, a new tab will open up and google will google it. I love this feature and other browsers don't seem to have this.

You do not have a boot.bin file in your HFTOOLS directory. Without this, a bootable ISO will not be created using HFSLIP (if you aren't planning on running NLITE on it). There is instructions on FDV's site for generating this file. I never had probs running nlite on the sourcess folder, even if it was not moved. However, one issue I found out with NLITE is that if you select a file called "last session" that is located elsewhere on the harddrive (i.e. not in the program files\nlite\presets directory), NLITE throws an error message and crashes. I told Nuhi about it, but I was quickly brushed off. It happens all the time to me. As a workaround, if I have to import a favorite that is called "last session.ini" that does not reside in the PF\Nlite\Presets folder, I rename it to something else first. These docs, support, valueadd folders. Are these alongside the source\i386 folder? Or are they inside the soruce\i386 folder? One last point. HFSLIP may not slipstream all of those MSI installers. I *could* be wrong.

I think I'm missing something with the security thing. Can someone point me to a malicious website? (Yes I'm serious). I see other people getting snagged all the time, but I don't seem to get them.

I have to admit I'm not a fan of IE, but it is enjoyable when used with Maxthon. In fact, I have been working reducers that leave the IE core in place and maxthon still works. Mouse gestures kick a**. I tried FF, and it just doesn't have the nice features that Maxthon has. In the REMOTE event I get frustrated with popups, I open a cmd window, type in regsvr32 /u jscript.dll and all is fine, no more popups. I haven't messed around with opera in a long while. Perhaps I should give it a spin again. BTW, what is the significance of the acid test? Is this used on all webpages?

What do the results of the microsoft baseline analyzer say?

For starters, type 1 hotfixes should be have the word "Windows" in it. Type 2 hotfixes are various, but you probably want to re-download them to get the correct filename. Refer to this for the difference between type 1s and type 2s. http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/24/ Your best bet would be to use the same file naming scheme that MSFT uses. BTW, are you sure that all of those fixes are for SP2? It seems quite excessive, unless you have every problem/issue on your machine as listed on the KB article.

Dosnet is only needed if doing winnt.exe or winnt32.exe as TC76 stated. However, it is not a protected file. Layout.inf is a protected file. If you are running a winnt.exe or winnt32.exe install command and you are getting copy errors with spx.cab, please post your dosnet.inf so we can fix the script. Thanks!

With CMD files that are processed during setup, it is good practice to specify the full path to the files you are working to. Using system variables also helps. To get an idea of what variables are available open a cmd window and type in SET.
-
kiki - You're best bet is to not rename your hotfix files. Good luck slisptreaming them all in. Please post your results. SnidelyW - Are you doing a CD installation? How did you slipstream SP2? Are you sure that your SP2 source works, prior to running HFSLIP?

I used to use the winnt.sif method before nlite. It worked great, even if I had the messenger slipstreamed into the sourcess.
-
I looked a bit closer. Here's more options to getting rid of messenger... (continued numbering from before) 4. Edit sysoc.inf (you need to repack it when you're done) and remove the line that says "msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7". 5. Create a winnt.sif and add this to your [Components] section : Msmsgs=Off Wow. I'm a friend now. Cool. It's funny seeing some posters on the forum that post gibberish & have over 2000 counts. I get a kick out of when someone asks a question, and they would reply saying that they don't know. HAHAHA.
-
There are three options that I see for this. 1. Create an INF file and throw it into the HFSVPK folder. 2. Create a CMD file and throw it into the HFSVPK folder. 3. Why not craft a hfcleanup file to not let it install at all? .... cough cough cough the reducer is already created and available cough cough cough. I hate colds!

Windows messenger in 2000? Nope, it's not part of 2000. Windows messenger is bloatware/worthlessware (if there is such a word) that comes prebundled with xp and newer.

It takes me 10-12 minutes to build my 2k installation. Try running scripts on each sourcess at the same time. If you have all that software, I'm sure your machine can handle it.

That cubic explorer is pretty cool. Here's a tip for you folks. DL either (or both) explorerxp and/or cubic explorer (get the ZIP version). Explorerxp... Install the program to get the exe file. Go to the programfiles directory and grab a copy of the explorerxp.exe file. Place it into hfexpert\win\system32. Cubic Explorer... Unzip to a temp location. Grab the cubicexplorer.exe file and place it into hfexpert\win\system32.

I like that... meddling. I'm sure that with the proper hfcleanups and the proper hfexperts, we can get rid of explorer. Did you ever see how much memory explorer.exe uses?

TC - 318G - verified the following: hfcleanup/hfexpert and hfslip easter egg. Both are good. I have to verify with a HFDRV set. Tain/TC - I think this will help. There is a txtsetup.sif command to say that the file that is on the CD isn't compressed. Check this out. http://gosh.msfnhosting.com/txtsetup.htm Look at the _X part. I think (or hope?) this is relatively easy to incorporate into the script. This was lifted out of the 2k txtsetup.sif autochk.exe = 2,,,,,,_x,2,0,0 The file is uncompressed, the _x tells the installer that the file is uncompressed. Hope this helps....

You don't need to put any files in your OEM folder, unless you really need them. If you want to make an HFSLIP friendly OS, just use whatever is on the CD. If a special utility is required, you will be prompted when you run HFSLIP. As far as the calc.exe goes. There is more than one way. The easiest way is to rename your pcalc.exe to calc.exe, makecab it so it is calc.ex_ and then put it into the FIX folder (or drop it into your source\i386 folder). When running NLITE, don't remove the calculator. (duh).

TC, Sorry about the dosnet thing. It was my error, I was removing that file with hfcleanup. Can you add this into the lower part of the hfcleanup section? (not a critical change at this point because you can't do a dos install with an hfcleanup'd source). FROM THIS ECHO>>SOURCESS\I386\DOSNET.INF d1,%%I TO THIS IF EXIST SOURCESS\I386\DOSNET.INF ECHO>>SOURCESS\I386\DOSNET.INF d1,%%I I just have to test the HFSLIP easter egg out to see if all is OK.
-
Squeeto - Do you mean explorer.exe the shell? or explorer.exe as the windows explorer? There are alternate shells as previously mentioned, and there are alternate windows explorers too, such as this one http://www.explorerxp.com. Have you tested either one out?

318F w/hfcleanup+hfexpert -->txtsetup dosnet still needs work, the file begins with the files added by hfcleanup. I'm assuming that there is no dosnet file in the sourcess\i386 folder prior to hfcleanup starting. Dosnet is not used for cd installs, so it doesn't really bother me.
-
Yes, remove the diagnostic part. The dosnet file is pretty much empty. Take a look.

Bad txtsetup. Echo a [sourceDisksFiles] into txtsetup.sif in the first line of the hfcleanup. DOSNET needs lots of love too.
