  1. I was surprised as well, but they showed the benchmarks live on tv . I haven't tried it myself but maybe in the future I will.
  2. if you can afford it get pc 3200(400mhz) Corsair is at the moment the best on the market but also a little pricey. I would suggest mushkin to be your second choice if you have to save a little money..... Corsair: 256: Cheapest from Pricewatch.com 512 : Cheapest from Pricewatch Mushkin: 256: Meduim Performance 512: Meduim Performance of course if you want higher performance, like the best available there different cas settings that your motherboard will take, but again the best thing for you to do is to set a price you want to spend on RAM and then go for there. I paid a little over $210 for my stick from corsair. Of course that is the fastest out there.
  3. I have said this for years, but on a recent TechTV show, they put that to test. Using HDTech (harddrive benchmark) they ran test on WD drives connected to IDE with another HD on it and then swaped them with cdroms on the IDE channel. All the benchmarks never lost speed or perfomance. Seems other companys as well as plextor and WD have teamed up and said this is true and no perfomance is lost on any IDE setup.
  4. Welcome Rob. Nice to see new faces around. Enjoy your stay!

  9. did you upgrade or change your file system from fat/fat32 to NTFS? What type of drive is this? Make and model please Open your case up and make sure the IDE cables are connected tightly to both the HD and MB. Also try to replace the cable with a new IDE cable. How long have you had it running? Any new changes to your system lately. All the question will help us out, to help you out, so please answer the best you can

  13. In the last 24 hours a tragic event struck our data center. A explosion in one of the generator...here is the news release from them. There primary generators continue to run well within normal parameters, and they have brought in 2 backups being fueled every 12 hours. They or I do not expect any downtime but in the event I apologize. I have posted this here so other may know if the data center goes down and why it has gone down. Here are some pictures of the event. http://www.emaxhosting.com/fire/ And before anyone ask , yes no one was hurt.

  15. there are two big ones going around to people I have seen. One is decribed as a screensaver and in the world of admin ( having access to a dedicated server) there is another called test.php which is giving people root access to any server you open it on. I got both in the last week.
  16. call your ISP. MSFN about a year ago stopped calling ISP for members.
  17. yes that is....for ex. look here on this DDR ram specs.. http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mushkin.sto...uct/View/990992 You will see it runs at 400MHz Bus freq which is also know as DDR 3200. The best way to end this long thread is to post exzact motherboard your getting and then I could tell you which ram to get. If your getting this motherboard: MSI K7N2G any of this DDR RAM will work: http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mushkin.sto...76/Catalog/5402
