  1. Is there a way of working around the password protection or a way of acquiring the password when the password is not known?
  2. I am using Universal Extractor 1.6 beta with the current innounp pnpacker. When attempting to extract some installers of Inno Setup type with Universal Extractor, the process halts and prompts: How can Universal Extractor be made to finish the extraction?
  3. In the initial post to this thread you specified a problem with an nVidia driver, but did not specify what kin of driver that was giving a problem (now it is know to be display). nVidia has more than display drivers (Chipset, Ethernet, Audio, SATA, etc.). It seems that all nVidia drivers, exluding some legacy products, may be installed using a version of the nVidia installer. VersionThe installer version I wanted you to provide was for the nVidia installer, not the Display driver's InstallShield version (which in this case does not). After rereading the initial post to this thread it appears that nVidia Display driver is not installed. You may try running the installation setup and continue though the wizard until the end. The drivers should then be installed. If you want to try an unattended method for the driver installation, you may try using a method described: http://www.msfn.org/board/nVIDIA-Driver-In...tion-t7557.html There was another thread I thought could be important to direct you to, but I cannot find it.
  4. That may have been a bug in the player (perhaps the defect also occurs on Windows XP). Perhaps it its possible to use different versions of QuickTime players with different versions of the QuickTime libraries (like using 7.1.4).I just performed a test. I have not yet installed non-Windows 2000 APIs.Using the QuickTime 7.2.0.240 libraries on Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4, I played a small 364 x 273 video clip in both QuickTime Player 7.1.6.200 and QuickTime Player 7.2.0.240. QuickTime Player 7.2.0.240 did not play well. Full screen failed; instead some kind of a theatre like mode occured (GUI changed). Full screen controls were visible in the mode but would not disappear. The QuickTime Player 7.1.6.200 semmed to play fine until Full Screen was used. In full screen controls would disappear after a while, but playback was slow (AMD Athlon 64 (Venice) 3500+ CPU ussage 100%)..
  5. The latest official QuickTime version was actually QuickTime 7.1.6.200.
  6. That may have been a bug in the player (perhaps the defect also occurs on Windows XP). Perhaps it its possible to use different versions of QuickTime players with different versions of the QuickTime libraries (like using 7.1.4). Thanks. I shall chick it.
  7. I shall look for the KDA utility and examine its function. The last good QuickTime version for Windows 2000 and Windiows XP was 7.2.0.240 (but unmodified installer from Apple does not install to Windows 2000). Newer versions may not support certain instruction and have DRM. I tend to just install QuickTime Alternative 1.90 Lite (installer with 7.2.0.240 libraries) and use a player like Media Player Classic or SMPlayer to play the clips. If you use a programs the require the QucikTime libraries, QuickTime Alternative 1.90 Lite, may be of use to you.
  8. To install aplications like QuickTime 7.50 on Windows 2000 after installin API extender, does the application like QuickTime 7.50 installer have to be modified to perform the installation of the application like QuickTime 7.50?
  9. Ignoring the logical flaw and potential misspellings in the explanation of causality of the quoted statement, "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" are used by Adaptec or Roxio Burning engines (now owned by Sonic Solutions). The burning engines may be found in Roxio or Adaptec branded products and Sonic Solutions products such as DivX Player (possibly since version 6) and Windows Media Player 9.
  10. In the initial post to this thread exists the language, "After the installation and rebooting, my computer has no CD and CRW drives any more!". If optical disc handling drives disappeared from your computer without your consent, it is reasonable to suspect theft. Yes.Follow the following procedure: Export Registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" to text file. Attempt to delete UpperFilters and LowerFilters following the process decribed in the "Method 2: Manually delete the registry entries" section of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 . If the problem still persists . Set "devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices" environmental variable to "1". Remove all optical drive drivers enumerated in device manager. Restart the computer. If the above fails, merge the copy of the earlier exported file to registry, quote a copy of the exported file to this thread, and state what chipset the motherboard uses and if chipset IDE or SATA controller drivers are installed.
  11. I do not know what a CRW drive is nor how much one weighs, but perhaps the devices were stolen when you were not looking.
  12. Specify which nVidia drivers and what versions of the nVidia drivers are yeilding problems. Also state the version of the nVidia installer used.

    XP USB Hotfix

Hmm, looks like the English package does not exist for x86, but does for Itanium (ia64).It seens that the English version of the patch does exist but has been removed from the public availability via the Microsft website and disallowed for distribution by Micorost PSS.The English version of the x86 patch seems to have also once been hosted by Esselbach Internet Solutions at http://www.warp2search.net/contentteller/n..._kb_826959.html , but the dowload link for the file does not work anymore.
  14. I have found a Microsoft Knowlegdebase article specifying the information ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992 ).It appears tha tWindows Media Player comes with QucikTime versions 2.0 and earlier support.
  15. Thanks for the notice Shark007; the information you provided should be especially useful for nForce series based motherboards when running Windows 2000/XP (for which QuckTime crashes frequently, especially in a web browser).
  16. Can Windows 2000's REGEDIT.EXE registry editor correctly export to file (.reg file), registry values of data types that are not REG_BINARY, REG_DWORD, or REG_SZ?
  17. Indeed it is possible. Many years ago I would install Windows 2000 Professional to partition E:. Using a non C: drive letter was optionial during install under certain conditions. I do not exactly remember how I did it. Try leaving the file system intact during Windows XP install (formatting the file system and assigning a drive letter using a different tool would be necessary). It is possible that Windows XP Service Pack 2 or newer service pack disables the ability. EDIT: I also vaguely remember a Windows 2000 support tool that could ealisy allow for what it appears you want.

    XP USB Hotfix

No, that is not the update. What you linked is the KB article for the patch that breaks what the hotfix I want should fix.

    XP USB Hotfix

Mainly do to Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2 (and Internet Explorer 7 is much worse) and Outlook Express 6 with Service Pack 2.One problem is that Created and Modified dates are set locally to the current dates for downloaded files; they do not retain the dates from the servers from which they are acquired from. Most changes in Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2 seem quite undesirable and hinder efficiency. Networking (without modified files) is inferior to that of Windows XP with Service Also, Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2 does not work as well with an important financial institution interface I work with. There are many other, but of lesser importance, reasons (such as restrictions) why Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows XP Service Pack 3 are unacceptable.

    XP USB Hotfix

What or who is PSS? No. SP2 or SP3 should run but yields problems.
  21. How can Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows XP Service Pack 3 drivers be integrated into a Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 installation source? Also, can the Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows XP Service Pack 3 drivers be added to an already installed instance of Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1?

    XP USB Hotfix

This hotfix was included in XP SP2, so yes, it's in SP3 as well. I inquired as to whether the hotfixes were applicable to XP SP1. Also it appears that the x86 English version of the patch is not listed (and it is the one I want).

    XP USB Hotfix

I had noticed the link at the top of the page. The update should be for Windows XP or Windows XP with Service Pack 1. I reached the hotfix request form. On the form, all hotfixes are listed as Release "sp2". Do the hotfixes selectable entries from the hotfixes request for work (or should work) for Windows XP with Service Pack 1?
  24. I am looking for the hotfix from: Your Computer Stops Responding (Hangs) When You Try to Bring It out of Standby or out of Hibernation by Using a USB Device http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826959/ Where may the hotfix be acquired?
  25. I thought that the Windows 2000 System File Checker (SFC) may overwrite a simply copied update.sys file to %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers directory (it does). To get aroud that I thaought that an *.inf file may be needed to install it. Please advise that this should not work if this should not work. From the thread "Microcode updates - UPDATE.SYS" ( http://www.msfn.org/board/Microcode-update...SYS-t44388.html ), MDGx made patches that replace UPDATE.SYS on Windows 98SE/ME. Microsoft Corporation also release updates that patch the Microcode Update Device driver for Windows XP/2003/Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936357 ). Apparently, it should be possible to install updates for drivers protected by SFC.
