  1. That might be done via hooking. A loaded DLL is brought into the system handles mouse and keybaord and gives back to the system. It can check every key or mouse move if programmed in...
  2. I'm thinking about to create a project to bring as features as possible to the elder OSes of Microsoft, especially Win2K. I prefer the last OS without WPA/ WGA (that doesn't need to discussed or written here, all my Windows are correct). Which Vista32Bit functionality not included in Win2k[3] or WinXP could to be brought to them? Visuality to XP (maybe also W2K3) is possible via the Aurora/ Energize Pack Maybe some knows the Vistapack for Win2000. VXK might ship them if ever allowed! I know about the difficulty to bring but patch and copy would need the newer OS. Because the Alky project focuses Vista features to XP and I want support W2K it would be different if the VXK project ever started. Its direction would be: Vista -> XP -> 2K but modest.
  3. You have to know that the Windows Messages System (every Windows system programmer knows what i mean) is used to catch system wide keys. Beside of this that without finding out which Windows-wide VK_ Code this is and parsed by you are years in Regedit... Any programmer here who have done desired by top poster for his filemanager application? As i use SpeedCommander i am also interested in this feature. Until yet i'd use ac'tivaid (Google translation from german, Blog of Tim Bormann) which enables me to change hotkeys and it has very lot more fine ablities for convienient using Windows via mouse and keyboard. It is created by Wolfgang Reszel as an project of german computer magazine c't. Project site of ac'tivaid with download. You can change the display language of ac'tivaid to english!
  4. If you wish (or have to) work with 16bit software - you may get in trouble... A little bit happiness is in 32bit Vista if you install the old software in ordinary user mode - that might be help if it doesnt belong to direct system access. Vista-x64 needs that you install Win95 in Virtual PC cause lackness of 16bit support of the M$-64bit OSes... Than any system call belongs to the VPC. If wish to know more about tests of my oldapp - tell me here. I could snip when running and then upload the screenshots. But if you are interested how odd an old progman replacement goes in Vista try ckTool while installing the 32bit-Installer available in my download area of my homepage. Either you install the full source code version without any deinstalling routine but Win9x compatible Startmenu folder. In this case you may delete its created program directory and the folder under your startmenu if you want to get rid. You should install the newer version with a few bugfixes which includes a better installer (deinstalling via control panel) if you are not so interested in the source but in running for testing purposes. Anyway, i am very happy if anybody tells me what he expects or sees or mean beside to the project of the both years 1996/ 97.
  5. *Push* Any Ideas how i can use the Display mode 1280x1024x32bit@75Hz on my Vista without it doesnt throw away that setting? On last Installation (the 2nd since i purchased and activated) i installed the NVidia 96.85 Beta Driver via vLite but that was not the ideal option cause i got the same hassle as yet. In the first Vista install without any big optimization i didnt recognized the failover, but at that time i did only used the standard "shutdown" button of startmenu, i installed the driver via executing its installer instead installing via display properties or integrated Windows installation. Any Hints yet or should it help executing the display driver installer from NVidia?
  6. The supported Mode was functional without problems in an earlier Vista Installation...
  7. The only way i doesn't loose my resolution of 1280x1024x32bit is clicking "save energy" or "instand on". Perhaps a look at my sysprofile may be useful to help in advance.
  8. As the dialogbox can be run via the keys WIN and R create an script in Autoit. Capturing pressing both keys will create that. Then test! I works as desired, compile that and drop a .lnk to the new e.g. runbox.exe into your startup folder. I prefer using ac'tivaid (Caution: Website is in german!)
  9. I think about developing a huge pack (as a partner) of a future RP project... Not only msstyle also enhanced startmenu and tray, new explorer places bar. More features as development will bring and users suggest... But the biggest problem i see that mix up development and using licenses is not a very good idea. E.g. commercial or limited distribution. I know using native XP libaries maybe liable but then users need that license and disk... Would be funny cause then using XP parts doesnt need dumb activation anymore If i use the development abilities here i prefer Common Open License like XPize limited by using addititions but that will be influenced by decision at end user installation. If ever then VXK will be coming because development will be open end
  10. Hmm Damian666, what do you think: Should i add a native W2K installation for (our) purposes or using Virtual PC? Read my Sysprofile for suggest! Actually i prefer to virtualize cause Vista clutters if rebooted - if this cannot be solved not only WinNT5/2K is seldom used also Linux will not
  11. That pack patches several Resources so the Windows 2000 looks more like an modernized NT4: NT 5.0 Either i try to develop enabling XPish design for W2K or i doesnt matter about... I know tihiys RP projekt "stands" cause his (re)sources are lost - as he doesnt lost his skills i hope he will do anything for future! Nevertheless: I maybe give my XPProf to my father - but his PIII has only 128 Megs RAM: nLiteN for slimness usage installation disk. But the reconfiguration of his Windows will be done by another PC expert (not allowed to me)
  12. These WB solutions stucks me - i doen't want use that Stardock software... But for now, i use the classic W2K Style "Windows NT5.0 EUR Edition", a german language modding backwards to the roots of the '99 Win: http://www.german-nlite.de/index.php?showtopic=8993 I use now all other solutions only in using VirtualPC, for development and testing packs...
  13. Xpize integration in .iso is patching i386 only. Want more? Read XPize manal for unattended options, usie nLite unattended Runonce.
  14. You may use the nLite unattended functionality RunOnce and add a line "xpizefull.exe /S". The parameter /S must be uppercase and is for unattended version of xpize setup.
  15. Reason failing IE7 system function calls of is cause it requests XP and higher features... Don't mess up your IE6W2K with 7, either you take alternate browsers or newer OS! As i'm a 2K user and developer of a Shellpack for it i use beneith that and XP now - Ultimate on my new PC
  16. Hello Presenting: - Huge cX2K -> 17.3 MB - Small XPize4Win2K -> 8.6 MB Feel free for any comments Both sourcepacks including the last development stage...
  17. Fortunately i'm able of Object Pascal So their Delphi Libraries i can use My themeing app maybe will then be an 2ktheme.exe with special self created desk.dll as addition for W2K desk.cpl (the XP one looks funny with 2K) What do you think?
  18. But i need to buy this prodcut if i want to ship e.g. a MCE (Royale) theme with future version of cX2K... And then i cannot deliver a copy with but the link to the creator of that tool!
  19. Ouch i attached the screenie of Darkside :
  20. I will do a slightly install in VirtualPC - i like testing other peole software. Damian i like your pack but i'd like to pimp 2K to XP not more
  21. Little pushing As this package should as simple as possible it patches only. Additional features will be only included in cX2K. So suggestions graphical here are welcome but and features are please in the other thread... I found the bug that patching bootscreen doesn't work on modern cpu's cause it doesnnt cover ntkrnlmp.exe/ ntkrnlpa.exe.
  22. As we are MSFN-friends you are my good known tester I'm awaiting your response!
  23. Thank you damian for (beta) testing... Yes, let me know as fast as possible!
  24. I use Ultimate (32bit) and tested that Tool. But make that sense? Before i had Vista i used it in XP - nice In Vista i can integrate the tool but configuration fail even without UAC in Administrator Account. Any Hints?
