  1. Oh, sh#t I forgot to fix this stupid shortcut in this version. As a quick fix you need to copy shortcut on desktop over a shortcut in Start menu. That’s it ;-) Do you think it's so important and I need to reupload a fixed version now?? Hmmmmm.... Find some more important bug ;-) Yea, look on Adobe site for "proper" version. batch script to move the shortcut from "Common Desktop" to "Common Programs": @ECHO OFF SET FILENAME="Adobe Reader 7.0.lnk" SET SECTION="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" SET KEY="Common Desktop" ::Read value in registry call readreg %SECTION% %KEY% SET SRC=%RegVal% SET KEY="Common Programs" ::Read value in registry call readreg %SECTION% %KEY% SET DST=%RegVal% :: remove leading and trailing quotes SET FILENAME=%FILENAME:"=% SET FILENAME=%FILENAME:"=% :: move shortcut move /Y "%SRC%\%FILENAME%" "%DST%" exit download Rob van der Woude readreg.bat script and save in the same folder as my batch script.
  2. How to turn off the speech recognition and the handwriting recognition features in Office 2003 Does the script posted at end of KB article helps you? disableCTF.reg
  3. Added to my growing collection of Yzöwl awesome script to do whatever you want with a nice small piece of code.
  4. I would like to try your utility. I have already a M$ server (with DHCP/TFTPD) with PXELinux installed. Just give us some infos about the version of PXELinux / ISOLinux used by your project. don't want to replace files of a working PXE Server allowing me to boot DOS bootdisk images and WinPE SDI image by downgrading some binaries. If you are using the latest binaries, it would be better to add a link on your web page to H Peter Anvin SYSLINUX - The Easy-to-use Linux Bootloader software. and give users instructions of required binaries in the downloaded archive. Merci pour ce projet prometteur.
  5. Found an answer to my previous post: unpack RdLang32.FRA (1) to install folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader in registry set value Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\7.0\Language\current] @="rdlang32.fra" put localized binary in respective folder nppdf32.FRA for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\Browser\nppdf32.dll AcroPDF.FRA for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll xxxxxxxx.FRA for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\plug_ins\xxxxxxxx.api (1) .FRA is the extension for french language. change the extension with your own language ressource binary
  6. On the new Fujitsu-Siemens Business Line of computers, the BIOS option is set in Power >> LAN >> Wake On LAN boot: Force LAN boot after Wake On Lan mac address is printed on label near the RJ45 Network Connector. I have currently a Win2003 Server with TFTP service set and PXELinux. From the server, i can change the default image to boot in PXELinux configuration: Universal Network DOS boot disk or WinPE image. With some minors changes, i may be able to get the mac address sent by one util from DOS booting and output to text file on a network share. When i get all the mac address of computers, i can then switch PXELinux default to load the winPE image. Not sure it would be faster than my current solution but want to try different ways. Actually, i need to plug a keyboard, power on each new box, hit F12 key to PXE Boot Universal Network DOS boot disk, connect to samba share to load ghost.exe and launch script to load image to disk and then shutdown box.
  7. 1st i would like to thanks those of you (including Vid0 and probably others people i forget to mention) that updates their silent installer each time Adobe release a new minor version. I have one question? how hard would it be to create a second 7z SFX that install silently the localized ressource binaries and then change registry settings to switch AR7 to our language. like Ahead Nero install: Nero base and then language pack. With the older AR5, it was possible to install ENU version and then put localized ressource binaries in the install folder and set the default language with a registry key value. Not sure it can be done with AR7 but as your look inside the MSI files to reduce size, you can probably answer my question.
  8. Currently experimenting different way to output list. On a fresh install of Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or 2 slipstreamed and Windows Update Agent 2.0 installed Step1: copy and paste the script posted at this URL: searching__downloading__and_installing_updates and save as WUA_SearchDownloadInstall.vbs in %systemroot% folder. Step2: cmd /k cd /d %systemroot% Step3: cscript /nologo WUA_SearchDownloadInstall.vbs Step4: for /f "tokens=1-4* delims== " %a in ('type %SystemRoot%\windowsupdate.log ^| findstr /i "Title"') do @echo.%e>>WUA_list.txt Step5: for /f "tokens=1-8* delims= " %a in ('type "%SystemRoot%\WindowsUpdate.log" ^| findstr /i "Downloading" ^| findstr /i "http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/"') do @echo.%f>>WXPlist.txt
  9. Most entreprise level desktops have Wake On LAN and PXE boot capability. You send a magic packet to each desktop to wake it up, and then tell the PXE BIOS to boot WinPE via TFTP. No need to insert a boot CD in the box drive.
  10. Yes. Using PXE, DHCP, TFTP, Windows service, directory structure, .ISO file, BartPE, RAMDisk and slipstreaming drivers are usual tasks i perform with RIS under W2K3 Please post your XPE PXE instructions.
  11. Where are copied your 3 Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet for hp drivers files for unattended install in your install tree before launching the install? b57win32.inf b57win32.cat b57xp32.sys and try to add this line in [unattended] section Your old Broadcom driver b57w2k.sys should be upgraded Win2K Pro = NDIS 5.0 = b57w2k.sys WinXP Pro = NDIS 5.1 = b57xp32.sys This is an unchecked answer because i never upgrade an existing OS, considering it's the worst solution. But unattended new install of HP Evo desktops with Broadcom NICs works fine.

  16. Doing it with FEdit is too complex: Editing text file from batch file I have already used SED for appending lines to an existing inf as posted here in this old archived post, i was adding new lines one by one. SED allows to insert a block of lines before defined pattern with one command: for updating HIVESFT.INF, i will add this 1st line to HIVESFT.TXT: /[AddReg.Upgrade]/ i for updating HIVECLS.INF, i will add this 1st line to HIVECLS.TXT: /[DelReg]/ i add backslash \ at end of each line to be inserted (including the 1st). special metacharacters like backslash \ or quote " need to be escaped with an added backslash \ left [ and right ] square brackets are escaped with an added backslash \ Finally i will use gsar.exe which is exactly the needed tool.
  17. I have parsed with HIVEUPD.CMD some lines from a lot of KB######.INF files of Microsoft Critical updates and output the result in two files: HIVESFT.TXT and HIVECLS.TXT i would like to insert hivesft.txt into %source%\i386\HIVESFT.INF at end of [AddReg] section: just before next section called [AddReg.Upgrade] i would like to insert hivecls.txt into %source%\i386\HIVECLS.INF at end of [AddReg] section: just before next section called [DelReg] could it be done with a batch?
  18. What about this then? copybar.zip It is a cmd file without third party tools etc. which I have wrote as an example. It works fine on my test systems.Just make sure that there's enough space on your system drive, pop your CD-ROM in, stop it spinning up, unpack the file, double click and watch! Regards @Yzöwl Nice script. It runs under WinPE after adding required files (not third party tools but OS command line tools) find.exe and mode.com in my image. but takes too much time from copying files one by one rather than *.* @gunsmokingman I would like to try your script but using a network drive (or HDD in external enclosure) as source instead of CD Drive. could the code been changed for checking the ident file on these installation media like S:\WIN51

Microsoft Security Response Center Blog January, 2006 Microsoft now releases ISO-9660 CD image files that contain all the security and critical updates that are released on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site for Windows and for other Microsoft products. The ISO image files are released at the same time as security and critical updates are released on the Windows Update Web site. The ISO image files are intended for corporate administrators who: Manage large multinational organizations. Must download multiple individual language versions of each security update. Do not use an automated solution such as Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). By using the ISO image files, administrators can download multiple updates in all languages at the same time. Last Update: Jan 15, 2006 What's new: Jan 2006 HFs added (KB908519) (KB912919) lists covers both SP1 and SP2 if you upgrade a component (WMP, DirectX) or add a component (.NET Framework), go to Tomcat76 Windows XP updates hotfixes (Current Recommended Windows XP Post-SP2 hotfixes) post. Prerequisites: Windows XP Service Pack 1 Windows Update Agent 2.0 Software Upgrade for Some Windows Components Required: To use Microsoft Update, you must first install the latest version of some Windows components. This will allow your computer to work with these new features on the site: Update for Windows XP (KB898461) (a) This update installs a permanent copy of Package Installer for Windows to enable software updates to have a significantly smaller download size. The Package Installer facilitates the install of software updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems and other Microsoft products. After you install this update, you may have to restart your system. Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 (d) The Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 is the application installation and configuration service for Windows. The additional features in version 3.1 help make creating, distributing, and managing updates to applications easier and more efficient. Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) © SP1 only This software updates the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) to v2.0 and updates WinHTTP. These updates help ensure an optimal download experience with future versions of Automatic Updates, Windows Update, and other programs that rely on BITS to transfer files using idle network bandwidth. Windows Genuine Advantage Tool not required if you don't check WU and don't download bloat from MSFT The Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool enables you to verify that your copy of Microsoft Windows is genuine.
