@FDV: I have been thinking, and personally, then i actually think that what you did originally, i.e. set it up as IE6 fully patched, is the best thing to do, since there are apps that needs IE6 and checks those IE reg-keys, and so changing it back to IE5 just to let an old and unsupported tool like HFNetChk see the correct version dosen't seem right... So i would personally preffer that you just sticked to seeting your fileset up as IE6 fully patched by default, as you always have previously done, but of course it's your choise in the end I do still think that it's best to set your fileset up as SP4 instead of SP5, since theres no advantage in setting it up as SP5 and since it can confuse some apps also, but again, your call, of course... CU, Martin.

@FDV: Thanks alot my friend - much appreciated! CU, Martin. Edit: Hmm, i have just now installed the inf's DefaultInstall section(righclick>install) and then i rebooted and runned TC's HFNetChk/Wget batchfile to check what updates i was missing and now i get this: I then opened regedit and checked the value of: 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion', and it was 'Service Pack 5', even though your inf changes it to SP4! But i have found out that this is because the key: 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion' is irrelevant, and always upon each reboot gets reset to 'Service pack X', and where the 'X' comes by analyzing the key: 'HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion', and where in that key '500' means SP5 and '400' means SP4... This is also why i had 'Service Pack 5' in 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion' after having installed your fileset, even though you define that key to be: 'Service Pack 5 IE free' in your shell.inf!... (So your fileset must set 'HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion' to '500' somewhere...) The IE5.01-SP1 issue, was that ';SP1;" should be ";SP4;" under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\MinorVersion... Thank's in advance

@FDV Of course it's your call, but personally i would prefer that you didn't change the SP level in the registry... HFNETCHK: Also, if it helps compatibility with IE dependant apps to show IE6 instead of IE5 in the registry, then that's of course important, but if it dosen't, then it would also be nice IMHO to not show IE6... HFNETCHK:
  4. Yes, you can also install apps from svcpack.inf(if they support being installed at T-13)... The answer to what the difference is about GuiRunOnce and RunOnceEx, you can easilly find yourself by re-reading the MSFN Unattended Guide...
  5. Try additionally adding 'ConfigureAtLogon=0'... I found several MSFN members stating that this should fix the display issue, but i don't know anything about if myself, though... The "URL information not staying" issue you're describing, i do not know what is about, sorry...
  6. System32 ??? If you meant I386, then you just need to add WINNT.SIF to I386. Unless that was a typo, then there's your problem... In the root you should have a folder named $OEM$ and not $OEMS$... If it was a typo, then check that you have your drivers in either '$OEM$\Drivers' or '$OEM$\Drivers.7z' and that each driver folder has atleast 1 inf file...
  7. The frontend is QT-based, so not the lightest solution indeed... Last time i checked, it used about 30 megs commit, without a video playing... Edit: Of course mplayer itself(the backend), is very lighweight...
  8. I don't use NOD32 v3.x myself(when i use an AV, then i use latest v2.x), so i don't know what the correct switches are for v3.x, but i have atleast corrected the wrong syntax you posted: reg add %key%\001 /v 1 /d "cmd /c @cmdow @ /hid&%PP%Nod32\Nod32.msi ADMINCFG=config.xml REBOOT=\"ReallySuppress\" /qb!&taskkill /IM egui.exe /F" /f Or: reg add %key%\001 /v 1 /d "%PP%Nod32\Nod32.msi ADMINCFG=config.xml REBOOT=\"ReallySuppress\" /qb!" /f reg add %key%\001 /v 2 /d "taskkill /IM egui.exe /F" /f
  9. I have been cross-referencing the_guy's list with TC's(high-priority updates only), and have found the following inconsistencies... Missed: KB927891 - Update for Windows Installer (3.1.4000.4033) KB943484 - Vulnerability in Active Directory KB944338 - Vulnerability in VBScript and JScript Miss-catagorised: KB911564 is listed under 'Windows Media Player 9', but is a standard w2ksp4 update(i.e. also wmp6.4)...
  10. HFSLIP v2.0 pre-alpha should support IE8-b1 slipstreaming on WinXP, but i don't know about IE8-b2, though... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=116421
  11. You cannot delete the NT default admin account... Either you keep the default admin account for recovery/backdoor-purposses and use another account as your primary account, or you use the built-in admin account as your primary account and don't make another account, allthough that's not really recommended, but up to yourself, of course...

@FDV HFSLIP v1.7.9 beta and set8e works perfectly now Thanks for mentioning me in the changelog again! Your efforts are very much appreciated, mate!!! CU, Martin.
  13. @TP HFSLIP v1.7.9 beta and latest FDV fileset(set8e) works perfectly together now Again, thank you so much, mate!!! CU, Martin.
  14. Thank you so much, mate! I will test now and report back... Again, many thanks for your efforts, TP!!! CU, Martin.

Thanks alot for testing this, Brabant I'm free to test this in about 10 hours and then i will report back! Thank's again for testing, Brabant!!! @FDV Thank you! Btw, previously when i said that the '%windir%\system' folder was empty, then i did know that it was suppossed to be that, but i meant that in your previous sets, then you have left that folder completelly out, but anyway, since you stated that you like to keep your own console-tools in that folder, then i'm guessing that it's intentional now... Sorry for the bad wording, though... Thank's again! CU, Martin.

The task schedular folder and 'search the internet' shortcut is the least of the problems... The biggest problem is that the HFSLIP temp folder in %windir% isn't deleted and that rundll32/xcopy/attrib commands dosen't work, but when i then rename FDVFILES to _FDVFILES and rerun the HFSLIP process and install the ISO in a VM, then the HFSLIP temp folder is deleted and all commands work... set7 didn't do this and all i have changed was to exchange set7 with 8d... I will make some more tests this evening, anyway...

  18. To help new users: August 2007 > KB936227 should instead be: KB936021 February 2008 > KB947890 should instead be: KB943055

@FDV Again, many thanks for your efforts, mate! Btw, i also do not have some of Brabant's issues i.e. i don't have web folders enabled and no "Tip of the day" shortcut... Again, thanks alot for working on this! @os2fan2 Yes, when i sometimes use an antivirus app, then i also get warnings about sp5files.zip, but it's nothing to worry about and it's just about the ie dummy file 'iexplore.exe'. Btw, that is with NOD32 v2.70.39(latest 2.x version)... (I don't use an AV app normally, since if something should ever go wrong, then i can just re-image my system partition back to a working state again.) @Brabant My source is the following MSDN ISO image: Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 (English) Date/Time Posted 2003-07-10 22:16:00 (UTC) File EN_WIN2000_PRO_SP4.ISO ISO-9660 CD Image File Size 369 MB SHA-1 Hash 4a4569b303163a53927109954a9f30e89cfead29 I then delete everything in the root, except the I386 folder and the three tag files(CDROM_IP.5, CDROM_NT.5, and CDROMSP4.TST). Then i remove the following folders from I386: WIN9XMIG WIN9XUPG WINNTUPG LANG I use TC's list with DX9C core and GDI+, and without any other optional updates, and also without the two updates which FDV states not to use i.e. KB842773 and KB908531.

Sorry, i don't have the FDV test-VM anymore, so i don't know, but on my system which is a FDV set7 install, then i don't have the 'Send To' shortcut, or the 'Folder Options' titlebar...
  21. Many thanks Kurt_Aust I just found it confusing that the top-level KB article number was listed, instead of the actual KB numbers of the updates... Thanks again, mate!
  22. I've been thinking about changing to the_guy's list now when TC hasen't updated his list since April '08, and also since the_guy's list shows which updates isn't needed with FDV's fileset(with some of them at least). Anyway, i've then downloaded all the needed updates from the_guy's list, but now there's two updates which i'm in doubt about, so if one of you guys could please help me out with that, then i would really appreciate it : August 2007 > KB936227: There's no KB936227 update in that KB article, but several other updates. Do i need any of these updates, or are they all replaced ? February 2008 > KB947890: There's no KB947890 update in that KB article, but instead a KB943055 update. Do i need KB943055, or has it been replaced ? Thank's in advance.
  23. You deleted to much from HFSLPGUI.CMD... Don't delete the rundll32 call, but only this single line: START/WAIT WindowsSearch-KB940157-XP-x86-enu.exe

@Brabant Funny, i do not experience any "Tip of the day" or "web folder" issues here, with either set8c or set8d... @FDV I forgot to say previously, that when i checked that the xcopy, attrib and cmdow commands wasen't working in a cmd prompt, then i checked if the PATH environment variable had '%windir%\system32' in it, and it did...
