  1. I always get the biggest PSU I can afford, plenty of molex connectors for upgrades and fancy lights. I have only fitted one silent PSU and it was a Tagan, felt pretty solid and the bloke has had no problems with it. Scan have built an SLI machine link and they are using a 480w Tagan so you should be ok with that wattage
  2. At the moment I dont think there is much in it regarding performance, the ATA133, SATA160 are only max burst speeds ( I think) they rarely go balls out when transfering data, but at least you get to use a nice thin cable, although they dont seem to want to bend as much as ATA cables Try Gigabytes web site to find your driver.
  3. You can download a test util from Intels webpage here
  4. @prathapml There is a switch for the boot.ini its /NUMPROC, I have tried but no joy, I think it only works for actual multi processor systems, and once they MP kernel files are loaded they stay on the system, so I would prefer to disable before loading XP, at least thats how I understand it. @Zxian My main reason is Xplode, certain plugins fail to load with HT turned on, I have run my unattended disc on the desktop PC with HT on and the directory plugin failed to load, turn it off and the process runs smoothly, if I had the option of buying the same laptop without HT I would have, bit of a white elephant in my opinion, forced upon us by the CPU nazis /rant
  5. I have checked the manual but found nothing about advanced features or menus.I tried key combinations but nothing.... I was hopng Intel might have a prog that could force HT off but I could only find a test util
  6. I have an Acer Aspire 1710 series notebook and would like to disable Hyperthreading, I can find nothing in the limited bios options as you would a "decent" computer, so, does anyone know how I may accomplish this?
  7. I haven't used coverXP for a while but this worked on version 1.52. Install the program as normal, then, export the reg info from here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\coverXPCopy the coverXP install directory from Program Files and incorporate it into your unattended cd, then create a sfx with WinRAR to copy the files back to Program Files and import the reg file. Another way if you use the OEM preinstall option is to create a folder called $Progs in the $OEM$ folder, put the coverxp folder in it and then add the reg info to your tweaks reg file, this will get copied during windows setup.
  8. No worries, glad to help.
  9. Turn off Hyperthreading (I suspect its enabled) in the bios and re-run Xplode
  10. @Tsunami this is the reg key set when using the group policy editor in XP ProBoth the driver entries are valid, I picked the Nondriversigningpolicy up from this board, think it was a link to a page on gosh's website
  11. I have this code in my tweaks reg file ;## When Windows Detects A Driver File Without A Digital Signature, Ignore #### [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Driver Signing] "BehaviorOnFailedVerify"=dword:00000000 more info here
  12. try adding Nondriversigningpolicy = Ignore under unattended
  13. You could try downloading the pro trial version and make a silent installation (under file on the enhanced user interface), then, when the two files are created, in the admin.ini where it says Serial, put your home edition key
  14. -[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Macromedia\Sites\-Site0] should be [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Macromedia\Sites\-Site0]
  15. Had some time to edit my matrix screen Setup Screenshot Extract, then expand the winntbbu.dl_ file, I cabbed it to save space
  16. I use Tracks Eraser Pro
  17. You could try this reg tweak from winguides, I don't use Office so I cant test if this works Winguides
  18. What I do is install the program initially, then copy the InterVocative Software folder from Program Files and export this key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVocative Software]I use xplode to install my apps so I have this <dircopy directory='#SOURCEDRIVE#\Applications\programfiles\InterVocative Software' target ='#PROGRAMFILES#'/> <execute display='Importing DVDProfiler Settings' program='regedit' arguments='/s "#SOURCEDRIVE#\Applications\programfiles\InterVocative Software\dvdprofiler.reg"'/>all this does is copy the InterVocative Software folder back to Program Files and import the settings, this will save you re-downloading databases such as Master Actor databases, Master Director databases etc and importing your profile database.
  19. Goto start then select run and type gpedit.msc. Under User Configuration, Administative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer, Common Open File Dialog you can set a policy for "Items displayed in Places Bar" for 5 items. Then when you are finished you can export [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32\Placesbar] HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\LocalUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\comdlg32\Placesbar and import them in an unattended install.
  20. For the alcohol shortcut try adding an extra % DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Desktop\Alcohol 120%%.lnk"
  21. Start Menu - Add this Winnt.sif entry [Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes Control Panel - Reg Tweak [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "ForceClassicControlPanel"=dword:00000001
  22. Well if we're posting autoplay menus heres one I spent months on to install my software after a fresh install of XP, only to discover this MSFN on completion , not really touched it since
  23. It seems ok but, I'm no expert on the files, if you have created the iss file using the -R switch when installing the drivers then I can't see a problem. I dont think there would be any difference between the driver versions, unless ATI have added additional components, there are probably drivers updates that fix bugs with games and different cards.
  24. The setup stops because it can't write to the cd-rom to create the setup.log If you are running it from the CD you must specify a path for the setup.log file, this is normally created on the drive where the setup is run from, you can use the -f2 switch to alter the path. -f2%systemdrive%\setup.log
  25. Technically you could using the [GuiRunOnce] section, but I think a bit more info is needed from Carmen as to which automatic install method info is required for
