  1. Im using some external HDs (WD) larger than 4TB in XP x64... and works perfectly. The only drawback is that you have to wait about a minute to the computer recognize the attached HD... then the drive works perfectly
  2. Im setting up XP64 and I needed a package of certificates to allow programs to run. For example... the classic potplayer videoplayer gives an error "potplayer.dll is modified or hacked" if the "VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5" certificate is not installed in your OS. Currently Im using these certificates to run potplayer without problems https://github.com/JohnTHaller/RootCertificateUpdatesForLegacyWindows but I wonder what other certificates I should install to be sure that programs that rely on certain certificates works. Probably they not always give a warning at startup.
  3. The early internet that we knew was a big library where everyone shared info and content. The modern internet is a shopping centre, and browsers money makers machines. Just fire the start page and it is already making money from you....do a search, visit a page, everything.... and remember.,,.... if you computer goes slow or run out of memory... its cause you need to buy new hardware for internet browsing... Adblocking is just the top of the big iceberg...
  4. The KEY to use modern internet is not use cromium (because faster javascript).... roytam1´s browsers are enough You must block selectively the javaspript that bloat each page. UblockO addon is not enough. You need script block addons, expecially for XP and weak cpus
  5. @roytam1 My most sincere gratitude for your work and releases... I continue using them in all my machines over the years!! Thanks a lot for your patience and time. A question. What adblocker is recommend to use with NM28? Sometimes I suspect that ublockorigin is just another piece of spyware... the telemetry removed by roytam1 is back again with the adblock addon that I install. Advice and comments are welcome.
  6. @roytam1 Thanks a lot for these great updates. I continue using newmoon on my old and new machines. REALLY APPRECIATED!! ;) Just a question. I discovered that iceape-upx consumes less memory than newmoon so its amazing for my old bnetbooks!!!!! What addons can I install with iceape-upx? I tested with the old xpi addons that I use with newmoon but I cannot install them? I need to unpack the xpi and edit it in certain way to make it iceape compatible? there is a place to download addonns already working?
  7. Anyone knows what system files should I need to remove from a win10 computer to make it safe against ransomwares that rely on bitlocker? Just disabling bitlocker is not an option... the tool is really dangerous and should not be included in default installations.
  8. Exactly thats the reason. The laptop Im using uses same mechanical HD for downloading, browser cache, windows pagefile.... so in situations withfew memory available skipping the cache saves to much r/w on disk. Really appreciated the info!!! I conserve cleanmem as best memory manager but I have to learn how to config it properly. Currently Im testing with old FF memory extensions and really does not help a lot. Ill install Lull The Tabs now... and test it. My best memory save trick for NM28 is to open a new window instead of a new tab and close the old window to really free up the memory.
  9. Right! That was why I asked about his capacities for file storage. In general, I don't think it would be a good idea to disable disk cache on devices with little RAM. Here using a mechanic HDs (160Gbs), so when Im low in ram, there is too much virtual memory disk usage... If the browser disk cache is also enabled... the delays are tedious, the HD dont stop of write/read activity.. so I prefer disable cache.
  10. Here using netbooks: -Atom N270 with 1Gb -Atom N280 with 2Gb
  11. Im sorry to be totally offtopic. Im using NM28 on a very limited ram machine. What settings in about:config or extensions would you recomend for minimal ram usage while browsing? Currentyl using Memory restart/memory optimize extensions, and in about:config browser.cache.disk.enable false browser.sessionhistory.max_entries 0 browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers 0
  12. thank you :-) really appreacieted!
  13. Hi!! How can I make the browsers totally portable?. I mean with the config and addons included in the browser folder instead of system folders? I noted after computer reboot that conf and addons were gone from NM28. Im sorry for asking this again... (probably the question has been replied several times).
  14. These are great news Dibya. Currently Using a Bay-Trail M computer with windows 7 because I cannt find drivers for vista or XP. I cannt get XP installed on this machine due to BSOD duirng install.. but vista works perfect and smoother than 7. Only video drivers are missing, so Ill be glad to give a try to your driver when ready. About brightness, yeah it is a must!!! The new LED screens are very brighty and it hurts your eyes
  15. thanks so much for your work!!! it is a must have!!!! I always suffered for this problem and I had to save in .png format to preserve image quality. daily use tool!!! thanks again
  16. I tested already. Seems that Ill have to get used to this NT6 family crap. Even to play a single mp3 Ill need more cpu than XP ;(
  17. Hi guys.. Im having really hard days getting used to windows7 in this computer that does not allow to install xp/2003. I play a simple mp3 with my tiny player (xmplay) and immediately the audiodg.exe appears in the task monitor.. so now I have two processes active to play audio: - The audio player running (1% cpu usage) - Audiodg.exe that consume between 4-9%!!!! Is there any hack/tweak to avoid this audiodg.exe? Any modded audiodg.exe without cpu activity or something that does not consume resources?. I really miss my xp/2003. I dont understand these stupid things to downgrade performance of computers ;(
  18. I have found a partial solution http://navozhdeniye.narod.ru/vbemp.htm Universal VESA/VBE Video Display Driver (for Windows NT Architecture) I tested in vista and its working perfectly! It provides the basic GDI acceleration for desktop apps.. so vista is running smooth now!! (Tested 7/8 in last week and the performance of vista is superior) Are there more Universal video drivers like these VBE? I know that its much to ask .. but some basic 3D acceleration and overlay mixer for video would be enough.
  19. OK I tested F5 with all the different HALs available.. and only got a freeze after loading all drivers instead the BSOD with the 00x7E error. I dont want to say bye to XP .. but seem that lack of hardware support is a nightmare. At the moment Im forced to use win7 because even Vista that performs smoother than 7 does not have Intel video driver ;(
  20. Hi!! I know about that problem since the first time I ran win7 and compared it with XP. Opening windows in XP was smoother than in 7, and dragging and moving a window also consumed cpu.. something that people from XP were not used to suffer. I´ve been off of win7 updates patches and unofficial tweaks info and I wonder if something exist in 2016 to solve or fix partially this problem
  21. OK I tested the Uniata drivers but they did not work. My procedure for integrate drivers is use the Drivers box in WinNTsetuptool. I used this procedure for integrate Fernando´s drivers in other computers and it always worked fine. The error that I get continue being 0x000007E acpi.sys Maybe installing XP in this machine is an impossible mission by now until someone release other drivers. Anyway, more suggestions will be welcome ;)
  22. @2008WindowsVista Ok.. I tested with the XP drivers for Intel HD 4000 that you linked to me.. and the problem continues. The installer does not work. It reads that I dont have minimum system requirements. I wonder if drivers would run with a tweak to disable the OS check or it is really a problem of drivers not designed for this videocard.
  23. @Dibya Thanks for the uniata link.. I have to try with it. Ill report tomorrow or so if it is working (no time to test right now)
  24. @jaclaz @LoneCrusader Very good idea about the plan B and try a BIOS mod. COMPUTER SPECS - PackardBell (an Acer brand). Model EasyNote ENTF71BM. Celeron N2830. Intel HD graphics. Changing SATA to IDE would solve the BSOD problem ... later maybe Intel HD graphics could cause trouble. About USB3 I can change to USB2 in BIOS to avoid lack of USB3 drivers problem
  25. Sadly I cannot change to IDE. Ill wait for the next year then and check the forum and your post for more news about the XP compatibility in new hardware.
