  1. refer again to the above reference and create the registry entry that you said is not there, I think that will fix your problem. Make sure to first create a restore point. Big Booger
  2. The clear case is schweet, though it would be hooked if you threw a very small neon, something of the strobing variety. Nice mod page. Big Booger
  3. Reverend the patch is for the intel chipset, but it has been stated that it fixes problems with voodoo and Geforce cards as well, but since you tried it, I'd say you have a bunk download of it. Just redownload, and post your results. YOu can try the link below for the new downloaded version if it is screwed too. Big Booger http://mm2c.btwracing.com/services/downloa...le=mm2patch.exe
  4. I must say, I almost did not install them 23.12 ASUS, but now their in and it works like a two dicked dog. I mean everything that used to happen to my old Geforce does not happen now, and its all because I bought a quality card!!!! Now I suggest if you are having problems with your card and none of the drivers are working and you tried reinstall the OS, the Card the drivers, etc... that its time to fork over the dough for a new card like me. That or check your memory, i took my old card to the COMP service dept, in my town and they checked the card and said the memory was bad. I even bought a blue orb fan because I thought it was overheating. It turned out to be a s***ty card, so to save your a** from a heap of trouble go with the brand name quality card, and make sure there is a warranty. Big Booger Screenshot attached of my card
  5. Use the divx codec to shrink the file down. YOur audio will probably be uncompressed too, so you might want to break it down to the MP3 format. I know I took a 11 MB file just for demonstration purposes, and compressed it down to 500KB. But, my friends, before you say send me to divx, lets talk about quality, and picture size. Quality: It sucked Size: Avatar anyone? But its there for the grabbing. I believe you can get it at http://www.divx-digest.com Big Booger as far as you pervs go, Booger can't head in that direction, I might make you sick.

  7. He changed it! It looked boogery too! Big Booger
  8. Decided to pick up a new gpu, so I looked around saw some nice Radeon 8500 for around $400US when converting currencies from Japanese, decided, I'd skip that. Then I looked at Geforce 3 elsa version, same thing, decided I skip that too. Went to the Geforce 2 Titanium version produced by ASUS, around 120 BUcks US, bought it. Even though I had been having problems out of my other Geforce 2 I decided to go with this one. It was a great move to. I never have a lock up and it works like a charm. I am about to install the new Dets 23.12 and see how that goes, but so far so good. I bought a crap card and learned a lesson, no two Geforce cards are the same! Big Booger
  9. try to ping the machines from both. If you get a request time out, its the cable or some other wierd phenomenon. If ping sends out the data and recovers, then its the configuration of your Proxy. Make sure you have a CROSSOVER CABLE, not a regular CAT5 ethernet cable, this will only work with a crossover cable, i tried it with a patch/cat 5 cable and it will not work. tell me the results of your ping, and I might be able to help you further, Big Booger
  10. Have you become boogerfied? Say it isn't so..... Run for the hills, my disease is spreading. Big Booger
  11. that is a sure fire way to test it. ANother thing, check the cable connections, I know one time I had everything hooked up and the **** floppy would not work, I replaced the cable and it worked like a charm. Big Booger
  12. email accounts, accounts.... its all biscuits and gravy to me. Big Booger
  13. That is a great post rev, sorry I missed it. We'll be seeing you on Sunday, AMEN Big Booger
  14. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q222635 another solution would be to reinstall after a good clean format of that buggered HDD. That might solve your entire malady, though I think the previous posters methods are all very good indeed. Big Booger
  15. http://www.microsoft.com/office/evaluation...pth/compare.htm comparison of the features available to you for office Xtra Payments, and office 2killyourbankaccount http://www.wired.com/news/gizmos/0,1452,44236,00.html another good article about backwards compat. of MS OFFICE another site below http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article.asp?aid=50284 File Format Compatibility Backward compatibility between Office XP, Office 2000, and Office 97 (with the exception of Access 97) lets users of all three versions seamlessly share documents. Access version 2002 uses the Access 2000 file format by default. Big Booger
  16. Have you tried the remote desktop feature of XP? Give it a whirl, but you need to install XP on the other machine!!!!!!! Other than that I can tell you to get PC anywhere version 10 that is compatible with XP, and AFAIK will work with 98/ME/and 2K.
  17. an alternative idea, use a router? Or try this site, http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm try a proxy server, if all else fails. I networked a 2K machine and a 95 machine for a buddy with this. It worked like a alligator in a farting contest! Its simple to use and configure. Basically, you have 2 nics in your desktop, you get a crossover cable, not a patch cable. It has to be a crossover, I picked up a 50ft crossover cable from ebay for 8 bucks. Then you install and run proxy server from the download on that link I gave above. Setup your TCP/IP for your second nic in your desktop, the one that is going out to the laptop. use 10.0.0.1 for your desktop, default subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 then you go to your latop and click on control panel, networking, click the adapter of your NIC for your laptop and set it up exactly the same except for the IP, it must be 10.0.0.2 or anything but 1 same subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Now you restart your laptop, and go into your IE explorer, tools, internet options, connections, lan settings, and take the check off of automatic and click the check by proxy, and insert your IP for your HOST PC 10.0.0.1 in the example above, and port of 6588. Very simple, make sure your desktop is running and has Proxy serve program on, and your laptop will share internet access! THE proxy server program has the readme with exactly what I typed above!
  18. [b:91634e4d67]CHECK THIS SITE FIRST AND FOREMOST[/b:91634e4d67] http://www.networkcomputing.com/918/918buyers2.html CRC ERRORS DURING HIGH SPEED DOWNLOADS/Data transfers This problem can be caused by many factors. If you use an external modem, check to see if the serial card has a 16550 UART. The buffer size of your UART may be too small. Slower computers may not be able to support high speed data transmissions effectively. The CPU may be too busy compressing data to be written to the hard disk when the modem is sending new data. This causes the new data to be lost and which creates CRC errors. Make sure your modem error correction/data compression is turned on. Go to Start, Setting, Control Panel, Modem, select your modem then go to Properties, Connection, Advanced, and make sure you have the User Error Control and Compress Data CHECKED. Lowering the port speed will also slow down the data entering the system. This will allow your system to properly manage the data. http://www.networkuptime.com/tips/crc_in_tcp/ that site might help another site http://www.anixter.com/privnet/xp/d0808p01.htm [b:91634e4d67]CHECK THIS SITE LAST AND LASTMOST[/b:91634e4d67] http://www.nwfusion.com/reviews/2001/0709rev.html
  19. sorry man. I thought I [b:24f8bf5712]was[/b:24f8bf5712] posting this in the hardware thread. My bad. Big Booger I have learned the about the edit key now, and will no longer triple post consecutively.:assshake
  20. Post in the right section??? Did I not post this in the hardware section? If not, by all means, I am truly sorry. I tried to edit the post and add pictures, however, I had multiple screen captures and wanted to post them in one post. Yep you guessed it, it wasnt possible, So I had to post three posts in a row. Sorry for triple posting in one thread, Big Booger
  21. The resolution, color, and impressiveness of the new LCD monitors here tops everything a CRT can put out, especially considering the space-saving, lack of large vents, and power consumption. They have a new Plasma screen they are using for televisions that are way over priced but highly advanced, we are talking crystal clear here, I hear really soon Sony and Samsung as well as a few others will be putting out the plasma monitor for PC's. That my friends is enough to make me go for the LCD. It is nice and it is clear as much as or even greater than CRT. Big Booger http://www.avrocks.com/store/plasma_tv.asp http://www.dba-pr.com/clients/marantz/releases/pd6120d.htm 61 inch monitor 29,000 US dollars! =) not cheap
  22. I thought when you restarted you loose all the information in the ramdisk, that is AFAIK. Maybe I need to study up a bit more on ramdisks. Big Booger
  23. http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml for the long continous beep, must be MOBO, keyboard, or PS, try a new keyboard first, and if it still doesnt work, try the Power supply test, using the paperclip on the green and black wires on the PS. THe link above in my previous post will show you how. Though, I think you might also have bad memory, if there is anyway for you to test the components to insure that they are working, I would do so, as stated in drewdatrip's post. http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/ depending on your BIOS, this site offers the best information about the beep codes! 24. I went out yesterday and bought another Pentium4 just to check this card out, and it is doing the same crap. I installed every driver known to god, checked the infinite loop page, made sure Direct X was using the Mini driver, I mean everything. It is now sitting here, out of both of my machines, waiting for some thermal epoxy for this weekend when I epoxy a new 5500 RPM fan on the chip. I think it is getting way to hot, and locking up. It puts lines all in my screen and microsoft error always blames it on the driver. The card is a HIS Graphic force no namer, piece of s*** etc.... I will never ever, again purchase from a non-brandname company again. I think HIS is big in Europe especially Germany, and also in Canada. From now on, its ASUS/Hercules/PNY and the like, all the way for me! I truly will post the results as soon as I get the thermal epoxy and slap this monster fan on this crappy card! Big Booger
