  1. I have purchased an Audigy Player sound card. This works fine and the sound is awesome. The only problem I have is XP will not install the IEEE 1394 controller. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thanks, Zippy
  2. Wulfy, you don't say what make your card is or what version your driver is. I have seen many posts on the Nvidia 23.11 driver, most bad. I have had a problem with that driver (not as bad as yours) and I have changed to 22.50. I have run benchmark tests on most XP nvidia drivers and 22.50 works best for me. Check the web site of your card manufacturer and also as already posted check your 4 in 1 (if you have a Via chipset). Your card maunfacturer should have the latest XP drivers for your card. If that don't work let me know. You can e-mail me @ Zippy@apgaming.com. Zippy
  3. I need a bit of help. I am very new to XP (installed it today). I like to mess with my OS and tweak as much as possible. I like to set my RWIN value to about 64240 - that seemed to work well with 98se. Does anyone have an oppinion on that RWIN value, and could anyone offer any advice on the best RWIN's. The other thing is pop up items in IE 6. I have seen somewhere that there is a method with XP whereby this can be stopped. Anyone know what to do to stop pop up's (those anoying adverts and pop up perv screens that you can never kill and that crash your system  ). Cheers, Zippy
  4. Thanks folks. I'll try both ideas. "First of all are u trying to dual boot??" -nope. I'm installing on a clean, formatted HD. I have a 30 gb spare. I just take this windows 98 out and swap it. "And I assume this is a copy of the corp version, cause it might be corrupt and ur going to have to get another copy " - I think you might be right. But I have also tried installing a none corp Prof version. I got the same error. Zippy
  5. I have tried to install a copy of the Corp version in order to see in my applications will run under XP and also to see in I like it, (I'm an old 98se dinosaur at heart). I have installed it on a clean formated HD and used setup disks,(all six of them) to start the setup. Setup runs from the CD and installs on my system. As the system tries to do the first re-boot I get the following message: - NTLDR missing press any key to restart. Does anyone know what this means? How can I get around it? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Zippy:wail:
  6. I have two HD's in my system. Is it possible to leave one as FAT32 with all my games on? As you might guess I haven't installed a copy of XP yet. Any suggestions as to which version is the best for gaming. Thanks in advance, Zippy
