  5. to tweak your RWIN value optimally, I suggest you visit this site, http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks that will check your connection and suggest to you several tweaks to improve your internet connection. To kill pop-ups in IE6 just use tweak Xp's popup killer, and ad remover if you like. They work great, using them now. Never get pop-ups, and if you do, you can add the URL of the popup to tweak XP and it will eliminate them. Big Booger http://www.panicware.com/ try that for a popup killer http://www.totalidea.de/tweakxp.htm this article might also help you, http://www.xtra.co.nz/technology/0,,829-859056,00.html

  8. If you want XP to install your original driver, you need to do the following, 1) boot into safemode (tap the F8 key immediately after you turn the power on. Repeatedly tap the key until safemode screen comes up. CHoose safemode. 2) once in safemode, you need to select yes to boot to safe mode when the screen comes up asking you if you want to continue with safemode or do a system restore. 3) then go into my computer, right click, and hit properties, device manager, and find your display card, and right click and hit uninstall, now it should uninstall for you completely. Restart your computer, and XP should install the default XP drivers for your 3dfx card. Big Booger
  9. Well, first off I would like to start off with an analogy. Imagine now, you go into the doctors office, and you sit down and you say to the doc, I've got a terrible problem and I want you to fix it. How in the sam hell can a doctor fix a problem without knowing/having more information? The point is you need to provide information when you post an issue, especially with computers. Now on to your problem, it seems 3dfx will no longer be supported in feburary, so It would be very good of you to scrap the card and go get a new one. As they are very reasonable these days. Not knowing your card type, system used, etc... I am going to direct you to this site, however, if this does not help you then you need to post your information so we can diagnose your issue and try to offer help. http://www.ntcompatible.com/3dfxfaq.shtml this site has drivers for various 3DFX cards for windows 2000/XP. Good luck, Big Booger

  17. do you have a scanner? If so, I'd suggest A. Unplug it and plug it in only when needed. B. Update the driver on the manufacturer's webpage. If you dont have a scanner, I'd need more information about your computer, as in your OS, your system specs, etc... also, any peripherials that you have installed, another thing that would be nice is a screen capture or photo of the incident. DO you get an error when you boot into windows or when you turn your PC on during the boot process? Big Booger

    bootvis

I went from a 45 sec boot to a 15 sec, doing a few simple things: some you might try and some are rather obvious. 1. first I went into me BIOS and tapped into the quick boot reference. that knocked off about 5 secs. 2. Then I went into msconfig using the run command on the startup menu, and got rid of everything that cranks up on the start up. Everything but the system crap that has to be there. I now have about 2 icons in the taskbar area. That killed off about 10 seconds. 3. Then I went into tweak UI and disabled showing the administrator on login, which bumped off another 10 seconds, because I no longer have to insert a password, and the choice menu for the login. 4. Lastly I used Norton system works to optimize the registry, did a defrag of the HDD, and a few other system tweaks. These are some of the regular type things I did to improve my boot time. Big Booger

  22. http://www.akatech.com.au/box-drivers/4dwavedx.zip Try this driver, it might work for your purposes :blueteam :wail: another thing you might want to consider is scraping that card, because as this site says, they will no longer be supporting that card in future windows past98 and NT4.0 http://www.tridentmicro.com/tech/faq.html#4dwave Good Luck Big Booger
