  1. A look at few tweak sites solved my problem.
  2. Wow, that was fast. Two questions answered within hours. Thanks.
  3. Another question: Is it possible that my USB device (64 MB) will be detected and work without any drivers. I have never used USB drives before. Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. OK. Thanks for the reply.
  5. Please help: 1. Will these drivers work on Dell GX 110? 2. Do i have to remove universal serial bus controller driver before installation? Thanks in advance for any help.
  6. Thanks for the link. Bye.
  7. Thanks for the reply. My computer is very old and i downgraded to a previous version of WDM sound drivers and they are looking good. Although this driver is also non-WHQL. But the company issued these drivers instead of newer drivers as there Updated drivers. There was some time when WHQL was stopped??? I am not sure but i heard a rumor that drivers will no longer be WHQL certified. Is that true?
  8. Thanks for the replies. I read in some MS knowledge bas about NT 4.0 drivers and Windows 2000, but was curious to find out that if something like vxd type of drivers existed for windows 2000. I did installed the drivers but they did not worked, no resourses were assigned to the device. Question: Why do WDM drivers suck so much?
  9. I need help please. I am having with WDM drivers for (PCI Sound card) ALS 4000 in Windows 2000, i am thinking that if i install non-WDM drivers from NT 4.0, that will solve my problem, but i do not know how. Some guidance will be nice. Windows 2000 autmatically reinstalls WDM driver if i remove it and if i try to upgrade my drivers to "other drivers" it does not show any NT 4.0 drivers. Please anybody here can help me. Thanks in advance. I used Windows 9x VXD driver in Windows 98SE and it used way less resourses less then WDM drivers. I am thinking same will happen with Windows 2000 and NT drivers.
  10. Thanks man.
  11. Guys, thanks for the replies. But i still do not get it. If i make an iso of 150 MB of Windows XP SP2, then it will be take app. 400 MB after install. Or is it that it will take more then that and certain things have to be removed after installation :? Please can you clarify it . Has someone made any list about how many things can be removed and what impact that has on the final size of Windows folder or is it that i have to adopt the method of trial and error. My hard drive is small, and i have several images of CDs on my hard drive which i really want to keep because...you know how small windows98SE was? It saved so much disk space. I hate Microsoft for closing its support on 98 .
  12. I need some help with nlite. I am upgrading from windows98SE. Please help. Here are my queries: 1. What is the maximum and minimum iso file size possible with nlite for Windows 2000 and Windows XP pro. And what will be the size of Windows directory in each case after installation? Actually i have a very old computer with limited space in it. Please help. Thanks in advance.
  13. 180 MB That's definitely too much even if it includes ALL updates. I agree with you; its large.
  14. Thanks for the link.

  16. You are asking for something which will make you . People are here to fix the problems, not create problems. Why don't you share with us about your security measures in this thread. Who is that mysterious, hidden, undercover, nameless, shy, genious and selfless anonymous author?
  17. Arrow: I love I.E, but it freezes my system from time to time, this happens to every I.E based browser on Windows98SE execpt Gecko based browsers. Firefox works fine. Why I.E based browsers freeze system or reduce the resourses to lower then 10 % if it is used for long periods of time? ..... And you wrote it yourself that you use K-meleon. On Windows 2000 or XP even I.E 5.5 would work fine. Am i right?
  18. Thanks for refering me to a browser which is based on I.E 6.0 . But it has the same problems as I.E 6.0. It seems there are infinite exploits in I.E less then 7.0 version that just cannot be covered by any browser. The browser failed my stability test same as Maxthon and others did. And its not a new thing for anyone. One thing though; I.E based browsers are faster then any Gecko based browsers. K-meleon is a nice browser.
  19. TheWorldbrowser I know because my 98se comes on a vendor's oem restore disk which has internet explorer 5.5 or something already on it Last time I reinstalled the o/s I quickly loaded up theworld before upgrading to int ex 6.0 first, the world popped up a dialogue saying int ex 6.0 required. It would still function, but minimally so without all its security features. Theworldbrowser has many similarities to maxthon and can also utilise quite a few of its plugins. Both are more secure than plain internet explorer and far better featured http://www.ioage.com/cn/download.htm translated http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?u=http:/...cn/download.htm You can download the installer or non install version and simply run it from its folder Version 2.0 of the world is more advanced with multithreading but like maxthon 2.0 is still in beta stage with limited features compared to the 1.0 series http://www.ioage.com/en/index.htm downloads for different os inc win98 http://www.ioage.com/en/download.htm Never heard of it before and its looking very interesting. Thanks for the links.
  20. ^^^ Thats wonderful.
  21. Yes, it is 6.0. What i am asking is a browser whose minimum requirements are 6.0 and not less then that. Any help on this?
  22. Question no.1 : Is there any browser based on I.E 6.0 SP1? Question no.2 : Do you think that browsers based on 6.0 SP1 will be more secure and stable? Question no.3 : Which browser do you use most commonly use?
  23. Thats nice info. I was thinking that those patches were there to add windows98 support, i was going to download FF3 and test it with those patches installed on Windows98SE. Certainly i would have ended in . Thats very cruel of them to write those patches, making it completely impossible to run it on windows98 or ME. 1. But browsers other then I.E have a tendency of being more stable. I was browsing a site with I.E 6.1 SP1 and got hit by ntkernel.exe trogen which freezed my system for 2 minutes, increased the size of my swap file from 50MB to 250MB and then tried to connect to internet but Zonealarm caught it... On that same site with firefox there was not even a single slow down or freeze and no trogen activity. 2. The system becomes very low on resourses with I.E usage for long periods of time, it starts to freeze with multitasking. 3. All browsers based on I.E have the same tendencies.
  24. Sorry guys, i meant c:\windows. I should not have given advice regarding operating system change as i also only have Windows98SE for about 6 years. I was just trying to help in a rookie way.
  25. Thats sad. Anyway thanks for replying. One more query Question: What are those patches for at the beginning at this bug: Drop support for Pre 2K
