  1. I would also like to pass on my best wishes to all who frequent this particular forum, especially the mods. dencorso for doing a fantastic job in keeping to it all together with good and sound advice, both technical and non-technical. MDGx for keeping us all going with fixes and updates etc, proving things are still looking bright for 9X, you were sorely missed during your absence. To all those learned members, too many to mention, but I think we all know which I mean, in keeping us informed, corrected and at times thoroughly entertained all the way.
  2. You really need to read or re-read, whichever is appropriate, post #1 in this thread. Particularly the information under the heading Auto-Patcher features. It does all the points you are asking from fully patching, with both official and unofficial updates and hotfixes, any 98SE system from a clean install all the way past July 2006 right up to December 2008 and from any point in between. It will only install what is missing or what you want it to install. Heck!, if you are paranoid it will just list what updates are missing from your system. This is one mighty impressive program that really does allow for a re-install of 98SE being thinkable which would otherwise be an extremely daunting task indeed.
  3. Version 10.20 is still Alpha from what I can see and has only widget updates, which I don't use anyway. Link for classic installer is http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/Opera_10...895_classic.exe Check out the information on the following page about a pre-alpha release of 10.5 http://myopera.com/desktopteam/blog HTH
  4. Perhaps this is in your list but not explicitly - where would you put a trip to WindowsUpdate.com on your list? I think you missed from the end of your post!
  5. Exactly! Steve Gibson has an interesting page at https://www.grc.com/dns/dns.htm and a small DNS Benchmark Tool at https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm. Running that tool from this location gives OpenDNS a faster response time than Google DNS but results may vary depending on location. I think I would rather trust OpenDNS with my information rather than Google but results are quite enlightening with this and the Anti-Spoof test on the first page. HTH
  6. The Calling - Wherever You Will Go The hugely talented Alex Band on vocals!
  7. @wsxedcrfv You have installed the 5.7 Version from Scr579x at sometime along the line. MD appears to be sticking with the 5.6 Version, thankfully as some people, myself included, have had problems with the 5.7 Version.
  8. NVIDIA drivers do not uninstall well with their own uninstallers or from the Add/Remove Programs. Use Driver Cleaner Pro Version 1.5 to remove them completely before reinstalling any other version. Driver Cleaner Pro Version 1.5 does support 9x and is freeware but finding a download location seems to be getting more difficult. It is still available from the following link. ftp://files.3dnews.ru/pub/drivers/DCProSetup_15.zip HTH
  9. Users of Opera 10.10 build 1893 may or may not be aware, that even with Opera Unite disabled, (located bottom left of browser along side Opera Link and Opera Turbo) the browser still tries to make an outbound UDP connection to it's server. This can be prevented by removing the check from 'Discover Local Opera Unite Users'. This is located under Tools, Opera Unite Server. That is unless this type of thing 'floats your boat'. Edit: Additional Information. To disable Opera Unite completely and remove all traces from the user interface, go to opera:config and under UserPrefs, remove the check from Enable Unite. Click on the Save button and restart Opera. HTH
  10. I am with -X- and herbalist on this one! Kerio 2.1.5 Firewall SSM Spyware Blaster Hostsman 3.1.57 with MVPSHosts, hpHosts and Peter Lowe's Adservers List all enabled. No resident AV No resident Spyware app Occasionally use SAS Free and Eset and Symantec On-line Scanners, but they have never found anything so far. Judging by the size of the arsenal some people are carrying around they must tread some very unsavory ground!
  11. Yep! It has and reference to the following thread which contains many links to posts over the past three years or more will certainly answer your question if you take the time to read it. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=118097 HTH
  12. Trend Micro Housecall Scanner V6.5 has now been removed and only V7.1 is offered. This version does not function on 9X.
  13. @jrronimo This problem may have surfaced on a previous occasion with NUSB98FE3.2 if you read post #455 in this thread. Sadly no one then posted any suggestion on how to cure that problem. There are a small number of 98FE users here, perhaps one of them may pick up on your problem.
  14. PAUL WELLER - Stanley Road An absolutely immaculately produced album!
  15. Have you installed the correct package for Win98FE? NUSB3.3 is for 98SE and NUSB3.2 is for 98FE. See post#350 in this thread by PassingBy, the creator of the 98FE version. Direct download at http://www.mdgx.com/spx/NUSB98FE.EXE HTH
  16. Personally I would advise you reinstall KernelEx with the "turn all off" option and only enable KernelEx for the programs that require it to run correctly. Right click the Install Setup File of the program you require, under Properties, there is a Compatibility tab. Click on this and you will see you have the option to run this program in compatibility mode for different OS's. Set this to run XP in the drop down menu. See the first picture in post#1. Once you get the program installed you can go to into program files and right click those that need to run in XP mode in the same manner.
  17. @Roberx Have you read this post concerning Adobe DLM with getPlus+? It seems to indicate it can be uninstalled. I think it is under Tools, Add-ons, Extentions not Plugins! http://www.msfn.org/board/kernelex-4-0-fin...8-page-362.html More reading at http://www.nosltd.com/index.php/support/support-faq
  18. JAMES BURTON - The Guitar Sounds of James Burton
  19. It should be listed under Tools, Add-ons, as Adobe DLM(powered by getPlus®). Click on the item to open up the options and click on Uninstall. You will then be prompted to restart Firefox. I have seen it suggested that the file np_gp.dll be deleted from the Firefox plugins folder also to remove all traces but the uninstall option should be sufficient. HTH
  20. (Technical jargon for 'That's your lot mate!!) The final Update 22 is now available to download from the following link. http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/5u22/jre
  21. Yes, I knew it!! I do live in a Third World country after all. The UK comes 25th out of 66 countries when it comes to download speeds. Anyone thinking otherwise would do well to read this article from the BBC. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8282839.stm
  22. MEATLOAF - The Very Best of ... Two disc compilation so should keep me going for a while!
