  2. From my research, WD is simply not capable to produce disks of any capacity above 6TB. I have WD60EFAX (6TB SMR), it's fine, despite the new not so popular SMR tech. It's still too new to tell about the longevity.

  3. I'm afraid not, because it would require backporting the whole shared memory API from Windows 10 build 1809 to windows 8.1. Better/easier/legally safer to build chromium from scratch (source), which is open, so anyone can try.

  4. Def. update is a blob in the format they previously used, just added new known vulnerabilities, collected during these years. .>>> Could you please not use CAPSLOCK, at least not that often, thanks.

  5. What are you trying to edit "without success"? "Sunsetting Chrome Translate for old Chrome" - is the cause. Research done in a couple of clicks. https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/217285368/sunsetting-chrome-translate-for-chrome-m95-and-older?hl=en They claim to still support 96 and up, which is not entirely true, at least on my end, I was only able to get translate fully working with Chrome 103 (May or June 2022).

  6. Firefox has a nasty bug, where it can't properly process enterprise or self-signed roots. If you encountered them, I advise to add this string to default.ini and then try again, security.enterprise_roots.enabled=true

  7. Thanks for upload of your Windows Update log! As far as I can see in you have used WSUS proxy method to get notification from systray shield. Is that correct? As mentioned above it works in my system too but that's not the problem actually. Only using HTTPSProxy switched on, no WSUS server. Is it then working too? I don't think so.

  8. @maile3241 Could you please provide more detailed information under which conditions and settings you get these notifications in systray? An additional upload of your WindowsUpdate.log would be helpful!

  9. Thanks for information! I already knew that. Using WSUS method Automatic Updates applet works flawlessly. As expected the notification shield appears in systray and reports one urgent update is missing.

  10. @maile3241 You said your automatic updates function is working. In Windows XP? I can' t see that in your screenshots.

  11. I use Glarysoft's Quick Startup. It has a delayed startup feature too. Very good tool and afaik more recent. No, I meant wuauclt /detectnow doesn't work for me too. No notifying of new updates (and in my case there is one), no shield in systray, no entries in event log. Sorry for confusing! It's not my day! Automatic Updates Control Panel applet is not greyed out and can be called up but changing settings by this applet has no effect.

  12. Maybe in Explorer options you have hidden system files and extensions.

  13. Sorry, I can't see the mentioned files in your folders. I see only the file wsus3setup.cab in first screenshot but in second one none of them. And don't hide your extensions of files. They are important to have a look at.

  14. Error code 0x8007000D means Error_invalid_data. Therefore I think using the XP version won't fix it probably. You have to find another version if it exists at all. Did you copy wsus3setup.cat too? Without it won't work. Both files wsus3setup.inf and wsus3setup.cat are included in cab file wsus3setup.cab.

  15. @maile3241 I've checked the location of wsus3setup.inf once again. The file exists in two folders, one copy is in folder WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\Default\ and the other in WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\WebSetup\. Both files have been accessed by WU. Maybe you missed one location.

  16. Maybe the file version of wsus3setup.inf is incorrect. Search for a version related to Windows 7. Maybe within a normal Window 7 system. wsus3setup.inf is located in folder SoftwareDistribution. But I've never used MU web site in Windows 7 so it is only a guess.

  17. There you have it ! You need ONLY 64 bit . I will share this direct link to ALL official Opera versions from their archive . https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/ You just need to extract it with 7zip , replace the files in your portable version, no installation needed . And use that portable launcher. Everyone , notice he has Aero working with Opera...

  18. I didn't have any problems with "SP0" , except that it somehow limited some games in terms of video memory . I mean it did have that weird limit with newer games that needed more than 512mb of VRAM . I'm talking about both 32 and 64 bit . That was fixed in SP1 . As for the speed , I had superfetch and indexing disabled and everything was smooth (with SP or without), very similar to XP , I agree that XP (out of the box) could be faster in theory , I think it's because it had less unneeded services , but they can be disabled in Vista. The thing that really bothered me - freaking white folder background (which coudn't be changed by a simple user). What about you ? Edit : I too replaced Vista on my laptop for some time because I couldn't change the background . But I went for Win2000 Pro.

  19. Well , it is already enough to run Opera . Maybe if you have some spare time and don't mind adding just shell32 sooner , with this function added, I'll start testing Opera with my starter. It's no hurry , of course , I have plenty of others to test . Today I've tested latest Slimjet - working , of course with this flag.

  20. What's there to check out ? You've already done a marvellous thing ! One can make this flag permanent and use the browser with it forever . I think it's better to investigate what causes the locale problem with the extensions . Or , as I said earlier , figure out how to force everything to use English (block other locales) . I already added this flag to the starter (with ungoogled) quite some time ago. Oh , and extensions without locales will work (I checked with chromium 86). By the way , the new files are already in the mega folder ?
