  1. This. Some indie titles that use later versions of Game Maker refuse to run under Vista x86/x64 and require DirectX 11 (Shader Model 5.0 / D3D 11_0 if 3D acceleration needed), despite the fact that Vista already has DirectX 11.0 full support (and of course 3D) once SP2 and Platform Updates are installed. Just because of "bad reputation", most 3D games or engine devs (and even 2D devs) automatically skipped Vista support, which is sort of like discrimination. Edit: Grammarly with Firefox is stupid and wiped out all my text for some strange reason.

  2. I use Process Hacker for many years. It shows only one VTHash.exe process whose window entry is disabled though. I also had sometimes two processes in Process Hacker if I forgot to close the previously opened one.

  3. @genieautravail The behaviour of your compiled VTHash.exe file reminds me of executables I have compiled in the past with the "invisible on startup" option. Perhaps, you can check your chosen options for compilation. Just an idea.

  4. Since this shortcut works perfectly, it is very unlikely that a background programme could be the cause. I have even closed Min2Tray from my ProxHTTPSProxy programme, but this has had no effect. Apart from that, it only minimises windows and does not hide them. Otherwise, no other window manager is running in the background here. If I understand you correctly, then calling VTHash.exe by double-clicking works for you under Windiws XP. Is that correct?

  5. Thanks for this information! I made a shortcut with the command line option --prefs. This is indeed working. Clicking onto the VTHash.exe file does not work in my system.

  6. Virus Total as a source and backup of rare files? Paid subscribers to virustotal can download files uploaded by others. https://virustotal.github.io/vt-cli/doc/vt_download.html indicates a downloader, "if you have an API key with access to VirusTotal Intelligence" https://virustotal.github.io/vt-cli/doc/vt_download.html and https://www.virustotal.com/gui/intelligence-overview I checked my ancient version of Kaspersky, which didn't seem to me to be available anywhere in the internet. Wrong. This version/build is not all that rare. VT Hash Check indicated 2019 as last Scan Date, so my ancient version of Kaspersky is probably still available for download, from Virus Total/Google, if you have an API key with access to VirusTotal Intelligence and the MD5 or SHA1 checksum of the file. Writing down the MD5 or SHA1 checksum of old software versions may be an additional precautionary backup measure --- for file recovery from Virus Total/Google?

  8. Yep. But as I already mentioned, my new code does not use this command any longer but instead yt-dlp --version respectively youtube-dl --version as a basis. All further processing, you will see in my upcoming release ytBATCH for Windows XP 1.6.

  9. Where were you when a member wasted 16 or so last pages by not calling his version.

  10. It worked for 15 years without a problem. All started to glitch out with Thorium. But I have no documented evidence of that. Just a big, fat, huge coincidence, for now. The notebook is barely used, still has the original OS. No PoS, no updates. Toshiba Satellite with a Celeron at 1.5Ghz. What year? 2003 or so.

  11. It's an undisclosed, "ancient" version (like @Multibooter puts it) version of Comodo Firewall 6.3.297838. @Saxon, 5.5 looks different, it has no aero.

  12. I get loooongish pauses before the posts finally come through. Probably the site checks the words, I don't know. It's absolutely random. Even when no links in the posts. Chromium 119.
