  1. In Germany, we call it "Armutszeugnis". Translated literally into English: "testimony of poverty" which means sloppiness, inability or incompetence. Edit: Sometimes literal translations can lead to misunderstandings. Therefore, I have found a better translation for "Armutszeugnis" and thus replaced "testimony of poverty" with "sign of inadequacy". And all of this, of course, only for our guardian of words @jaclaz! Whereby I would actually rather have content-related, topic-related statements than linguistic, philosophical or political marginal notes! Anyway, I have amended my original post accordingly. 2. Perhaps you need to create a new topic and call it smth like "Un-chinified/Un-russified 360 with basic privacy settings and XP skin". Thus avoiding your posts getting lost in this general discussion .

  3. No , but you can always check yourself . It's a 5 min. job to cut these out of the res. file. The browser unpacks these hidden extensions each time you launch it.

  4. Rumours then, just rumours. what about the portable kernel version? And will we be able to use this kernel on Vista, just to run browsers, for example?

  5. There were no reports about viruses. I was simply referring various speculations made by others regarding why the VxKex repository had disappeared. While I don’t recall the exact forum or site where all these discussions took place, one comment that stood out to me was along the lines of: “I always knew VxKex was sketchy. The author probably nuked the project after someone discovered malware.” Additionally, many people suggested that the project might have been taken down by Microsoft, which was another theory that turned out to be false. You can even find such speculation in threads like one here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/186333-vxkex-extended-kernel-project-dissapeared/ Neither I nor vxiiduu have ever stated that he deleted his Discord account, and there has never been any speculation or evidence suggesting that his account was compromised. If such a compromise had occurred, I’m confident we would have heard something from his well known online acquaintances, such as dotexe1337 (developer of Windows 7 Extended Kernel) or win32 (developer of Supermium), etc. And more importantly, the new version (1.1.2.1428) of VxKex, released by the same account you’re questioning, actually includes the improvements it claimed to offer. For example, VxKex 1.1.1.1375 never worked on updated Windows 7 SP1 32-bit systems, but version 1.1.2.1428 functions without issues. Additionally, a fatal crash that occurred in the game Life is Strange has been resolved in this update. And, of course, the source code is available for verification.

  7. I think that there are indeed programs whose age plays a subordinate role. My firewall in Windows XP is now 7 years old, and I would not exchange it for any other program. Firewalls for Windows XP in particular don't necessarily have to be up to date as long as they can still control data traffic correctly in these days. That is one of the reasons why I also list such old firewalls as Look 'n' Stop Firewall here. And of course, the Comodo Firewall definitely belongs here, too. And sometimes, the following rule can be applied: old OS, old program. That's what it was made for.

  8. CurrPorts With the analysis tool CurrPorts from NirSoft, you can display all occupied ports for TCP/IP and UDP on your computer. The tool lists each process with open ports and extensive information such as local and external addresses of a program connected to the internet or a network. If desired, the tool creates a clear TXT, HTML or XML document from this. Even after so many years and updates, CurrPorts is still compatible with Windows XP, like most programs from NirSoft portable and of course free of charge. All further information can be found on the CurrPorts homepage. Quotation from their homepage: Homepage: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html Version number: 2.77 Date of release: 13.12.2023 System requirements: Windows NT Windows 2000 Windows XP Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008 Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 Windows 10 Version history: The complete version history can be found here: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html Review: https://www.ghacks.net/2019/08/02/blast-from-the-past-nirsofts-currports/ Download links: 32-Bit version: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports.zip 64-Bit version: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/cports-x64.zip CurrPorts is also available in other languages which can be downloaded from their homepage. Screenshots: And here is a screenshot when opening MSFN website with New Moon 28: I love all the tools from NirSoft. CurrPorts is one of them. Knowing exactly which program uses which port and connects to where is very important and can play a crucial role in terms of system security. In my opinion, you simply have to have this program, especially just in case. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  9. I know Comodo Firewall quite well as I used it in the past. A lot of information about Comodo was already collected by me including links and versions. A good source is among others the Comodo Forum.

  10. Look 'n' Stop Firewall Look 'n' Stop Firewall is a rule-based firewall that can control both outgoing and incoming traffic. It has a standard set and an enhanced set of predefined rules. Rules can be imported, exported or newly created. Look 'n' Stop Firewall also keeps a detailed log that provides the user with information about all the filtered packets. There are two ways in which the firewall can be operated: in standard mode, once the user decides to restrict access to an application, he/she will not be asked again. The choice remains so until the user manually grant access to it. If Look 'n' Stop Firewall is run in advanced mode, the user is given two extra choices: he/she can grant or restrict access just one time or until restarting Windows. This firewall is a powerful tool and of course compatible with Windows XP. A special mention should be made of the extremely low resource consumption and processor load. The last version 2.07 even supports IPv6. All functions are described on the homepage. Features: http://web.archive.org/web/20190420082753/http://www.looknstop.com/En/looknstop.htm Homepage: http://web.archive.org/web/20190420105129/http://www.looknstop.com/En/index2.htm Version number: 2.07 Date of release: 17.10.2009 Release notes: System requirements: Windows 7 (32 and 64 bits) Windows Vista (32 and 64 bits) Windows XP (32 and 64 bits) Windows 2000 Windows serveur 2003 Windows Millenium and 98 Review: https://www.brighthub.com/computing/smb-security/reviews/36598/ Download link: http://web.archive.org/web/20190422035302/http://www.looknstop.com/En/download.htm Rules: Free rules from the developer: http://web.archive.org/web/20190511002235/http://www.looknstop.com/En/rules/rules.htm Additionally, there was a commercial ruleset called Phant0m``s Look 'n' Stop Ruleset Deluxe v1 Build 010 Rev3: http://web.archive.org/web/20160410170152if_/http://www.queenscountypctech.ca:80/Phant0m/downloads/file.php?get=Phant0m_Looknstop_Ruleset_Deluxe.zip Screenshots: I list Look 'n' Stop Firewall here because it is a good firewall for Windows XP. The program can be tested for 30 days. Then, however, a licence code must be entered, which unfortunately can no longer be purchased. Same applies to the Phant0m``s Look 'n' Stop Ruleset Deluxe. So this firewall is interesting for those who have already bought, won, inherited or otherwise obtained a licence years ago, such as yours truly. I have used this firewall for a long time, and it served me well. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  11. If you read my article about Windows 10 Firewall Control XP carefully, you'll notice that I've already mentioned it. FYI, the main difference between free and paid version is all Windows system services and programs (System Core Applications) can be controlled only in the Plus (paid) version. All other programs and application services can be managed in the free version, of course. In my article, you will find a picture with a comparison of all editions under the section Features.

  12. No, you are wrong, unfortunately. You can leave the native Windows XP firewall enabled, but Windows 10 Firewall Control (Plus) XP is a standalone. All data traffic, both incoming and outgoing, is perfectly controlled. You can define your own zones and rules. Many zones and rules are already pre-defined. You have full control at all times and can see exactly which program wants to connect, only if you allow it, of course, and again, in both directions. I use it for many years, and Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP never failed.

  13. In my first post, I already explained that. The last working firewalls will be listed here, of course. A firewall does not need necessarily updates if it still works properly in Windows XP. I know Outpost Firewall very well, I used it long time ago. Therefore, it is on my internal list of security programs. However, I must mention here that I have already presented the by far best firewall for Windows XP, and, compared to all the usual suspects, this is definitely Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP from Sphinx: Cheers, AstroSkipper

  14. All information about Malware Hunter is here: There you can see: System requirements: Runs on Microsoft Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP and Vista. Including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Conclusion: it should run under XP 64. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  17. I'm not sure what exactly do you want me to capture with this screenshot . First off - removing these speeds up the browser launch , like 2-3x times. You can try and see for yourself . I'm absolutely fine with what you do or don't/won't/not going to do . I'm here as an advisor . I publish my personal discoveries and I have my own modded version . This is a "general discussion" topic , so people can/may want to disable it themselves. And the subroutines are called ! For example , in chromium (ordinary chromium) you can see that these create cookies and "app data".

  18. Yeah , let's not discuss , I agree . But other members need to know why I asked you . Not everyone is aware , it seems . Honestly , I can't understand why would you bring the politics here in the first place ? Huh ? I mean , you didn't link to a neutral website about Dutch tullips ! You linked to the enemy station . I was in shock why would you even suggest something like this to a Finnish guy . Being from Europe , you ought to know his motherland Finland is still under Russian occupation , huge Finnish territories are still under occupation . Like Karelia , etc. "Russia occupied Finland several times" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland–Russia_relations In 1939 Russia bombed Helsinki and occupied Finland again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Helsinki_in_World_War_II Not enough ? I still remember russian tanks near your house too .... OK ! Let's pretend it was a big misunderstanding and move on. I just wanted to say I'm on the same side with this marvellous , friendly , funny and wise Finnish guy , I hope he will forgive you . P.S. I know a lot of Germans . You need to be sure you're not talking to an ex-stasi , DDR military or his/her relatives/family members and the such , who will tell you "some things were better on the other side". To the other readers and our dear moderators , please excuse us for this slight off-topic ! And it is still kinda on-topic , since we talk about internet websites . Why ? Simply because we didn't have RT in the 90's when russians couldn't allow themselves to pay for this super expensive propaganda machine with the western oil/gas money and the internet was definitely better !

  19. @XPerceniol , thank you for the kind words ! There was an article (I think called "how to force internet suck less" or smth like that) , it had a ton of gurgle/yackoo IPs which are safe to block {they are useless for us} and will not interfere with casual browsing , but it got deleted ! These were the IPs for tracking , the same IPs that every chrome connects to at the start , including 360chrome , the same IPs that chromium browsers use for key logging.

  20. I was under the impression you're from Bundesrepublik Deutschland (West Germany) ... I hope this is a joke , right ? There's an official warning that RT is fully the mouthpiece of the Russian government and it is state owned. https://www.politico.eu/article/russia-propaganda-disinformation-rt/ https://www.mediaite.com/online/rt-is-literally-russian-propaganda-why-does-anybody-take-it-seriously/
