@AstroSkipper Not necessarily applying to this particular product (Vir.it), but being well known or popular is not always a proxi for anything but being well known or popular, and definitely not for quality or convenience. As an example, take DMDE (which I actually personally recommend[1]) as a program for data recovery, try finding it searching for a data recovery program, you will find that Recuva, Easeus and Wondershare are far more well known and popular, yet they - in the best case (if/when they work at all) - offer a fraction of the capabilities of DMDE. jaclaz [1] but that D.Draker cannot use because the programmer is Russian3 points

Yes, I had a problem with depression starting in teenage years, but it got better as I grew older. I think youngsters are disappointed and frustrated by the limitations of life; but as you grow older, you realize this is all there really is. Many youngsters with depression also have another underlying condition, e.g. nobody ever heard of Aspergers when I was your age. I think you should spend less time at online forums, forget about legacy versions of Windows, and “get a life” while you’re still young enough to enjoy it!2 points

I don't know why people get afraid to use antivirus from other countries. After cloud scanning was invented all you do is chose which country you want to give your data to. Do you trust your government ? Antivirus Cloud scanning was resumed by ESET 5 help file I quote: That was back when there were still honest companies that admitted that cloud scanning really doesn't boost your security. It's like the issue with Tiktok. The reason US government fears users leave Facebook and other US based Social media is because they want your data. Please don't give it to China. Give it to us instead. https://www.howtogeek.com/540658/is-your-antivirus-really-spying-on-you/2 points

ADHD is an issue I deal with on a daily basis. It's the feeling of having everything to do and not enough time to do it, since now is the only time I can do anything.2 points

It won't work forever. It will only work until Steam changes something on their backend that uses a web tech that isn't supported in whatever their internal browser uses.2 points

I am very thankful to see WiseVector StopX as abandoned. I tried this one a few months ago and was hit with at least half a dozen false positives. I do admit that my only method of verifying if a hit was positive or false positive was by using free online scanners and also uploading to my Google Drive account because it scans everything before re-downloading. I wonder if your guide/thread can include recommended/suggested "online scanners"? Not an extensive list, just some sort of "honorable mention" online scanner.2 points

This is the greatest thing I have seen, thank you! I hope you sincerely stay that way. And if you miss using legacy Windows versions very much, you have the option to install them via VMs. That's how I still use them.1 point

The windows startup logo says "Professional edition" or "Home edition", when sp2 was released they removed it.1 point

Not until Boston Legal came along and portrayed a character with Aspergers. The character (Jerry "Hands" Espenson) is played by actor Christian Clemenson. Dan Aykroyd, Daryl Hannah, Anthony Hopkins, and some doctors suggest Andy Warhol also all have Aspergers. Or more recently called Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).1 point

Maybe there's a way to spoof the Windows version so you can also install it. But I have a question. Why not use SP2 ? Back when it was first released I noticed that my computer was faster with SP2 than without it.1 point

Same here. Though minor and non-medicated. I am one of only a few here at work that has computer speakers, Pluto TV, streaming radio, and YouTube access because "background noise" keeps me 'focused'. So I guess I kind of have "exploited" the minor ADHD but my boss knows the difference in my efficiency when I do and do not have that "background noise". I've also been suggested via "medical advise" to drink Mountain Dew because caffiene kinda of has the opposite effect on me as it does most people.1 point

That was my mistake. Other forum member(s) were asking about Thorium, I did a 10-second Google, and posted the link. I've never actually tried Thorium. I do not, never have, and never will condone the use of "warez".1 point

It depends on your preference. I personally have not updated my PC at home yet, although my laptop is on it just because I upgraded it at some point. I haven't bothered to downgrade it at all. So it is really up to you, if you think the changes are something you can get used to, or if you'd prefer to find other options.1 point

I didn't "recommend" anything. I only provided - when asked - a link to it: No personal experience with it, all I can say is that it is VB100 certified (whatever relevance this may have) with a grade of D: https://www.virusbulletin.com/vb100/testing/tgsoft/vir-it-explorer-pro https://www.virusbulletin.com/uploads/vb100/test-reports/vb100-test-report-2023-04-21-vir-it-explorer-pro.pdf jaclaz1 point

You only need to copy the relevant errors from the console. If the same error repeats over and over, then don't copy them all; just copy a single instance of it and tell us that that error is repeating. Another pro-tip is that most of the warnings (like the CSP errors marked as warnings) you see is mostly irrelevant and can be ignored. You can do that, but I think this forum software should support "spoiler" tags which should automatically hide the contents of the console output you've pasted. Put it within a code block for better readability and nest it within a spoiler tag for best results. Please don't. That's bad netiquette. Btw, you can access the "F12 Browser Console" with the F12 key, which will toggle the developer tools at the bottom of your browser. Not sure why you didn't get that from the very start...1 point

I spoke too soon in comparing LTSB 2016 to LTSC 2021. My 2016 is heavily tweaked and runs 29 versus 51 processes (76% increase), 288 versus 622 threads (116% increase), and 8766 versus 21581 handles (146% increase) that a temporary LTSC VM runs for testing purposes. 2016 on the left, 2021 on the right. A fairer comparison will be after heavily tweaking 2021.1 point

Thanks for stepping forward! I believe you once mentioned your condition in one of roytam1’s incredibly lengthy threads. (At the risk of sounding unreasonable, I often wish that members would strive for concision in their postings - but fat chance of that happening!) Here’s wishing you a happy MHA month!1 point

Now my installers works for any OS from 2000 to 7 SP1. Download your from https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsVjtW11rJfA3FQANrgg_QXRMgfx?e=lCF2lV and run it (follow eventual prompts). It restores WU, MU and AU (including website on Vista and 7). Notes: 1)On Windows 2000, you need SP3 or SP4 and IE6 installed before you run this 2)On Windows XP RTM, SP1, SP2 AU doesn't work if MU is enabled (unsolvable) 3)On Windows Vista and 7 already used installations run the fix before installing 4)On Windows 7 SP1 error 0x8007000A is related to wuaueng.dll and cannot be solved. If you have it, install SHA-2 support 5)The installer can be run multiple times if you need1 point
