Here is my updated set of XP icons for w2k + registry files I promised to make in this thread:

Some new icl files are more useful (sendmail - context menu) than others (ntbackup).

Most registry entries do not use environment variables (like %WinDir%) they use eg. C:\Winnt\System32.

So if one uses different locations the regfiles have do be adapted. That's for my attatched reg files only. The installer uses environment variables!

The icl files that go into subfolders of Program Files I did not include into the HFSLIP reg version.

It seems that including explorer&internetsettingsXP.reg into the HFSLIP reg has no effect. It has to be applied after user logon.

It is the small icon in the explorer status bar and one icon in internet settings - security.

Everyone is welcome to add new icl files / reg files for differnt systems, updates and stuff related to icons + HFSLIP (cmd files...) here in this thread.

I'm the INF guy, so I decided to take a few minutes to punch up your XP.INF file from the REG source. You knnow, now that I think about it, you could use this to package all of the files into an EXE using IEXPRESS and then have something to drop into HFSVCPACK_SW. Any takers?

Changes:

Do you want it with or without the Uninstall option in addremove?

(working on it WITH) should have before weekend is out)

Here is one with NO un-install and this is TOTALY beta. Seems to work, (tested on 1 machine only)

Well, will continue with an un-installable ver anyway...

I can host files and space isn't an issue. Just send to me at DELETED and I'll take care of it.

I was a fan of those free services until I went to update my codec pack and saw that the links are dead...they just aren't dependable.

Ok, so it was for a completely different situation but system hacks (that no one else is using) might also lead to this. I guess I am also asking if there is any other interest in this method either than myself?

FWIW, after "installation", I have a explorer.icl file located in the root of my drive. With my HFCLEANUP'd installation, I don't have a PF/Internet Explorer folder. Does this folder need to be present for this icon pack to install?

I have no idea, but maybe you should use the .cmd file? It only registers stuff if it ends up in the proper locations. :whistle:

Lol...couldn't resist. :D

Oh, and FYI, the .cmd file makes registry changes based on Bug's first registry entries....though that's obvious if anybody noticed the posting times.

tommyp: isn't HFSVCPACK_SW for Q:A R:N?(whatever that means) I throw all my switchless installers in HFSVCPACK.

I said it was BETA, maybe I SHOULD have said ALPHA. There were errors in the inf file (used without checking) The files were copied but the reg entries were not done. It was a rush job...

I now have a fixed version with the ability to uninstall, ready and on its way.
