So I could use the portable version of version 16 on XP? In what way is the portable version restricted relative to the installer version, and do you know if that applies to the paid version?

But only in the hope that the older installer versions will continue to be supported and supplied with signatures. You buy a license, but the current installer can no longer be used under Windows XP. The portable version is unfortunately restricted compared to the installer one.

You can't directly find such links on their homepage. I checked the current links and replaced the file name to the one I wanted. Here is a link to their portable 32-bit version 15.19.2.0: https://cloud.adlice.com/owncloud/index.php/s/QE2fq4D24A1IKEb/download?path=15.19.2.0&files=RogueKiller_portable32.exe. I checked the most recent version again. The installer version 16.5.4.0 doesn't work properly under Windows XP but the portable version 16.5.4.0 still seems to work.

Thanks, but I was aware of that. If the free version works as it should do, I will be quite happy to pay for the version which is more equivalent to Malwarebytes Premium, for which I've been paying for years, and which I will still be using on Windows 10.

Disregard. I like Audio Limiter Pro the best. BUT... it can only be active on one browser tab at a time and I generally have anywhere from two to seven, never only one. And once I take the tab to a "picture-in-picture popped-out window", there is no toolbar to activate this extension on a per-popped-out-tab basis. So I need to stick with this one instead, works on all tabs -- https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/volume-limiter/mifbapamdlfoaejolcmnagpedbooefjf

But the free versions of RogueKiller Anti-Malware don't offer any real-time protection. And they are quite restricted. They don't even offer a custom scan in the free version. If, for example, you want to perform a scan on drive c: only, you have to be very tricky. In any case, it can't be a replacement for Malwarebytes Premium 3.5 unless you purchase a licence.

Yesterday, I was also checked by Cloudflare on two different sites. Both checks were done successfully in New Moon from the package palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20251225-d849524bd-uxp-fd19819276-xpmod.7z. -

Just out of curiosity, I have tested the above URL (https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/washingtonpost/browse) and they pass the Cloudflare's captcha in both Serpent v52.9.0 (2026-01-09) (32-bit) and New Moon v28.10.7a1 (32-bit) (2026-01-09) browsers. palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20260110-d849524bd-uxp-3e9ca11775-xpmod.7z basilisk52-g4.8.win32-git-20260110-3219d2d-uxp-3e9ca11775-xpmod.7z https://ibb.co/nqWkmVHG https://ibb.co/SDL5tRHD -
Okay, I found what is working great for my setups. Whispers amplified, gun fire and explosions reduced. STOP the MADNESS of having to increase/decrease volume 140 times during a 90min movie! Test cases - 1) Computer A = no external speakers, just the speakers built into the computer monitor (cheap Insignia tv HDMI input) 2) Computer B = three external speakers - Creative powered left, right, center/subwoofer 3) Computer C = HDMI feeding Onkyo TX-NR696 Dolby Atmos 7.2 configured as standard 5.1 (front left, front right, front center, surround left, surround right, subwoofer) 4) Computer D = HDMI converted to old-school red/white/yellow AV feeding audio two-channel audio inputs of Samsung (can't find model #) which 'converts' 2.0 stereo to 5.1 surround Browser runs compressor. EQ no longer ran from within browser and ran at OS-level instead. Browser = Audio Limiter Pro -- https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/audio-limiter-pro/nbegknfbjphdkfigiepacdkichbmdaof Set at "commercial" preset, ceiling reduced to -10, threshold reduced to -40. @AstroSkipper Where can I get hold of RogueKiller 15? All the links bring version 16, which you say doesn't work on XP. I'd like to give it a try as a possible replacement for Malwarebytes Premium 3.5, which no longer receives pattern updates.

To rule out the possibility that my system could be causing the strange behaviour and problems with Panda Antivirus Free 21.01.00, I conducted a thorough investigation. I manually cleaned the registry of installation residues. Unnecessary items were uninstalled or deleted. A lot of storage space has been freed up. The swap file was deleted and recreated. Start-up files and the swap file were optimised. A thorough malware scan and several defragmentations were performed. That's all I could do. Without Panda, the computer ran perfectly.

Yesterday, I did a check of the system partition c: using RogueKiller Anti-Malware Portable 15.19.2.0. And today, I have installed Panda Antivirus Free 18.07.04 from 2019 for testing purposes. Let's see how this version performs.

The online scanner virustotal.com is ok for checking single files to get further opinions if a file appears suspicious. But that was it then. It will never be a replacement for an antimalware programme.

this one probaly will stay with us: virustotal.com - you gonna upload your file (if the file was already uploaded the upload dont take any time) then all anti viruses scan that file for a virus after that you should know if it is a virus or not

hard to tell whats wrong there, as site returns HTTP 400 Bad Request on both 52 and 55. GET XHR https://www.legacy.com/api/_frontend/obituaries?endDate=Invalid Date&limit=50¬iceType=all&offset=50&sortBy=date&startDate=Invalid Date&affiliateSiteName=washingtonpost [HTTP/2.0 400 Bad Request 251ms] for cloudflare's loop, you may try toggling javascript.options.weakrefs in about:config. -

Roy, The last two basilisk 55 versions are not directing properly on certain sites. For example this one: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/washingtonpost/browse If you scroll down and go to page 2 it doesn't update anymore, it stays at page 1. The last version to work was December 20, 2025. I looked at the web console for errors but there isn't anything. -
The most recent version of RogueKiller Anti-Malware is 16.5.4.0 which doesn't seem to run properly under Windows XP. Due to my tests, I can confirm that RogueKiller Anti-Malware 15.19.2.0 runs well under Windows XP. I have already updated my article accordingly. Since the 16.x.x.x versions, Windows 7 is required as a minimum according to their homepage. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper
