RickSteele
The original installer supplied by Nero may be extracted directly using 7zip.sharkGo figure!, I have a support reqest/bug report submitted to RAR labs about this; beta 8 is a little buggy. Major
@razor813, @OCedHrtYou are right, but the problem was from the Nero Core because in the new version 7.9.6.0, i have just burned a VideoCD no standard without problem (is a film of my friend in the format KVCD), i will try it in a DVD Player to see if it plays correctly.I have a question please, Have you tried to burn a VideoCD with the nero premium 7.8.5.0?Well, download please the new version beta Micro 7.9.6.0 and try to burn a VideoCD and report back please. For me it has worked perfectly. Thanks

If vcd burning does not work, chances are many other function not workingthxIt is not necessarily the VCD burning doesn't work, but it seems something is missing either for the decoding or encoding of the media files. Putting pictures into the VCD is working.
razor813
i guess the problem is, nero premium does not have encoding tools, it rely on other software on the package to encode it. Since this piece of software missing, when it try to read avi and encode it, it would just break down.so i will find the encoding software and report bakc. Major
@razor813Do you encode the avi files to a VCD? I thought only you want to burn a clip VCD already made.
razor813
yeah, i understand your meaning. When nero burn to a vcd, that video clip must be mpeg format (VCD Player only read mpeg format). No matter type of input (avi or mpeg), nero will always check the format and encode it to mpeg if neccessary (I tried both mpeg and avi, both of them made nero crash).I guess the problem is nero does not have the checking and encoding tools necessary, so when it attempt to analyse the media (not even encode), it fails and crash.ONly guess though.Regards
RaGhul
I think I know what you're trying to say, razor.I ran into the same problem with Roxio a couple yrs back. You have a file that is MPEG1 encoded, which is basically the same format as VCD, but when you plug it in to Nero for burning, Nero wants to encode it.Well, Nero Lite/Micro won't do that. You would need to use Nero Recode. But I don't recommend it AT ALL. It takes forever, but more importantly, Nero isn't very good at it either. I tried it twice with Roxio and Nero both. They really suck at encoding, whether it's MPEG to VCD, AVI to DVD, etc. I waited 2 hrs just to have it tell me it won't fit on a disk. For what you're trying to do, I recommend DVD Shrink, ConvertXtoDVD, or WinAVI (in that order). Edited May 25, 2007 by RaGhul
OCedHrt
Nero 6 did not require Recode to encode the input media files for (S)VCDs. I will try the new beta version, but I have a feeling it will be the same.I will also reinstall the bloated full package without Recode and see if it works. I am pretty sure it will though.Recode is needed to encode to DVD (for authoring). Edited May 25, 2007 by OCedHrt
Major
@OCedHrt Thanks for your contribution. So Nero no longer encodes to S-VCD, only burn S-VCD already made?
razor813
raghul, i prepared one avi file, and one mpeg II file (i encode with super), even if i specify mpeg 2 to burn to vcd, it won't.I do know how to encode files though, i just guessing if nero try to use other apps in bundle to analyse and recode when it comes to authoring. Now another problem araise: install nero lite, and i can't install nero full package to test :-(
Major
and one mpeg II file (i encode with super), even if i specify mpeg 2 to burn to vcd, it won'tBecause you must burn it to SVCD as it is a mpeg II. Now another problem araise: install nero lite, and i can't install nero full package to test :-(When you uninstall nero lite, it does not remain any key, it is clean 100%.To encode clips or movies to mpg1 or mpg2 there are a lot of utilities like tmpgenc and use avisynth to use filters, the quality is better.
