Does Norton really suck a lot?

When I was working on someone else's PC, when I clicked on the Norton AntiVirus 2007 (or probably not far off) tray item, Windows XP BSOD'ed and rebooted! When I checked the SaveDump entry in the event log, found out it was STOP:0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA, which I saw occur before because of buggy software. I never gotten a crash when doing other things. It appears to be Norton's fault, because the crash occurred when I tried to unload the real-time protection by right clicking.

But I was preparing to reinstall Windows XP Home Edition on that PC. I made another partition, a FAT32 partition to back up the pictures on, so I can reformat the system partition.

Norton has been getting bad of late, but hopefully they start to make some improvements. As of right now Trend Micro seems to be establishing a good repuation. NOD32 also is a great antivirus product.

Norton is quite good in one way....

If you're a computer novice and use Norton products; you end up learning a lot about computers.

Seriously though, usually their support pages just entail uninstalling and reinstalling to increasing degrees. I finally used my WinXP CD and took the 'Format and Install' option.
