I burnt a lot of dvd's here lately and had no problems with them. Now the drive wont see that I have an empty dvd in the drive. Playback of rented dvd's are fine. Using nero after I add all my data (backing up HD for format) Nero says to put in an empty dvd I already gtt one in there. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling nero. What could be wrong and what else do I need to try?

Disregard, I flashed it with aftermarket firmware and killed it. Unless there is a way to get the bad firmware off.

I always assumed that whenever the firmware gets hosed, the whole hardware is hosed. However, I have heard of some manufacturers having rollback utilities. I couldn't give you any guarantees though.

For about 225.00 with shipping and replacement warrenty on HD for 2 years. I sure didnt need to spend any money at all, so I tried to get the best value fo money spent. Did I do good?

then to get the sata versions you would need to waste money shipping it back.
