I have an ultraportable laptop which does not have an integrated optical drive. Is there a way to extract an nLite-generated ISO and somehow load it onto a USB thumb drive for installing Windows? I'd like to have "windows installation on a stick" as a backup for emergency situations.

so far i've gotten to the set up screen but my 1 gig stick wasn't big enough. attempting to disable the size limitations as we speak.

However, the whole thread and methods are for install and run XP on a USB stick, not for installing from it, which was the OP question.

Well, Mojopac is nice, but it is an alltogether different thing, it is just a way to make your desktop "portable" between systems that already run XP.

Also, the "XP on usb stick" is NOT necessarily "portable" between different systems, if you need something that is "guaranteed" as portable, you will need something more like BartPE/Reatogo/UBCD4WIN/Winbuilder, i.e. a PE based system on the stick.

Yep , though that is for VISTA, not for XP.

A USB Guide document needed.

Since this question appears alot here, and there are multiple links to various solutions, it

would be nice if someone wrote a "USB OS BOOT Install Guide" in pdf format and provided

a link at the top of this websites home page for easy access. See the "Unattended Guide"

link that is already provided.

The guide should include various solutions and for various OS' such as 98,XP, Vista

which would be specified in various chapters of the Guide.

Just some thoughts here....
