Shark007 Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 thanks Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Lite - Hebrewshark
Shark007 Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Thanks for the Lite-Versions.Maybe it's a good idea for some to delete the "AcroRd32Info.exe"-file after installation, as it remains worthless in the RAM (consuming 21MB) after closing AdobeReader.(see also: http://blog.kakkoi.net/windows/how-to-safe...-adobe-reader/)any Lite versions I have released since this information was brought forward have AcroRd32Info.exe removed.(hebrew and chinese chs)The 4 version 9 releases I have made to date will be re-released with this file removed.pending . . . shark

The one thing I have noticed is that AcroRd32Info.exe attempts to load even though the file has not been included. This creates an error message in the Event Viewer/System log as follows:Unable to start a DCOM Server: {98D9A6F1-4696-4B5E-A2E8-36B3F9C1E12C}. The error:"The system cannot find the file specified. "Happened while starting this command:"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32Info.exe" /PDFShell -EmbeddingThe message appears about 5 times for each PDF viewed. Is there any easy way to prevent this error message?Regards!
Morisato Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Autoupdate is removed, but can you still update? I need it to have those additional language support.
Shark007 Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Is there any easy way to prevent this error message?I'll look into this. No promises it'll change. Most users never read that log. (I don't). They doubleclick a PDF and if it opens, they read it.Autoupdate is removed, but can you still update? I need it to have those additional language support. ALL update features are removed. Having a software package call home occassionally just to 'check for an update' is not welcomed on any of the computers I maintain. You will have to do it manually or install the full version. The update features I removed are more than just a few files/plugins.shark

Like you I hate programs that "call home" and automatically update etc. I use The Event Viewer to make sure that all programs "play nice"Regards!
