Van Damme's latest movie, AfterDeath, has been put on ice because of budget problems, and the actorhas been told to fly back to LA and sit tight for five weeks while themoneymen try to raise more cash. Spielberg has secured the film rightsto the Belgian comic strip, and the Muscles from Brussels has beenwidely touted as a contender for the blond-tufted boy reporter. Studiosources say desperate Van Damme has been personally calling Dreamworksalmost daily to push for a role in the project.
