August 22, 200620 yr 1 Week ago my old Radeon 9600XT died.Now im deciding what's the best thing to buy?1. I don't have a lot of money2. I have AGPIm thinking between these:Radeon 9600XT 128mb (like old one) - USEDRadeon 9800 Pro 128mb - USEDGeforce 6600GT - USED or NEWRadeon X1600PRO - NEW (is this card better than 6600gt or 9800 pro? )Thnx m16si
August 22, 200620 yr I'd go for nVIDIA, better driver support, no bloatware as in ATI's Catalyst... But that's only my 2 cents.
August 22, 200620 yr I would personally pick the X1600 out of those. X1600Pro > 6600GT > 9800Pro > 9600XTIf you can afford one of the new 7 series nvidea cards then that would probably be a better choice than any of them. I heard the AGP 7600GS can have pipes unlocked and overclocked pretty well. Edited August 22, 200620 yr by Scubar
August 22, 200620 yr I go with Scubar .@nitroshift,ATI drivers arn´t big, it´s the control centre of ATI that is big but most people don´t even install it...
August 23, 200620 yr nvidia 7000series all the way herehttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....=&maxPrice=
August 24, 200620 yr X1600 sounds nice, but i guess its not the most expensive model, there was the XTX model?
August 24, 200620 yr I heard the AGP 7600GS can have pipes unlocked and overclocked pretty well.I had my 6600GT's pipelines unlocked (that was my previous card, now I got the one in my sig). Got 16 instead of 8 Now I've got 48! By the way, any tweaks related to graphics cards may be found here. Edited August 24, 200620 yr by nitroshift
August 24, 200620 yr I'm a radeon fan, mainly because some series, forget which, from nvidia are big power consumers. Also, they take up an extra pci slot.
August 24, 200620 yr I'm a radeon fan, mainly because some series, forget which, from nvidia are big power consumers. Also, they take up an extra pci slot.Mine surely is a power-hungry card and it does occupy the PCI-E slot and the 1 next to it. But I ain't got any expansion cards apart of the DVB-satellite card, so I'm ok with case spacing
August 24, 200620 yr nitroshift- haha, nice card you got there. but i think ur cpu is limiting it.... you should consider a conroe then with a conroe you need a new mobo, 2 gigs of ram, a new psu.... lol
