Proping up "win98SE" with "Win98" files ?

I was recently given a second computer which has "win98SE" loaded on it.

My main computer has "Win98".

On the new computer everything seems to be running fine but I need some updates and drivers which all seem to require the "Win98SE" CD.

Is there a work around for this or should I just reformat the new computer and load it with my existing copy of win98 ?

Ok so my original and first posting in the group shows a lack of confidence/experience in rewriting assorted files, so it would be better I just worked with file systems I am familiar with ?

Why did M$ ever spend the money to create and release Windows 98/SE?

I wish they had just called it Windows 99, because it's like a whole new version of Windows. It fixes so many problems, glitches and insufficiencies in ol' 98, it's not even funny.

You'd be well advised to keep 98/SE on the one maching and upgrade to other one to SE too.

The 98/SE upgrade CD's are available all over the place. You probably have more than one friend who has one. They can still be bought over the internet too.

Good Luck,
