Mr Reorg
I burnt a CD-R of the nLite ISO image and the computer hangs during post after message:"Initializing Intel Boot Agent version 2.6 (build 004)"I'm completely new at this and tried to search for the answer to my problem but haven't been successful. I am complete noob at making an unattended slipstreamed CD and really need your help.I'm using a Dell OEM XP_Home (original XP version) CD as the origin of the slipstream.Steps I took:Using RyanVM_Integrator:slipstreamed SP2integrated RyanUpdatePack2.1.0integrated RyanAddonsWMP10Using NLiteremoved componentsunattended setup- made selections options - made selectionspatches - made selectionstweaks - made selectionscreate ISO imageUsing Roxio CD Creator 5.3 (or whatever was the last v.5 patched version)burned nLite ISO image, using recommended settings for making a bootable CD from The Elder Geek but didn't follow the rest of the directions.First off, let me ask a really stupid question:I only had to burn the ISO image, right? I didn't need to add all of the files (i.e. $OEM$, I386. etc.) to my CD project, right? What have I done wrong?By the way, I can't test my image in virtual environment because I've lost my IP Address and can't renew it (some TCP/IP Protocol and or winsock corruption) plus other issues requires me to refformatt and reinstall the OS; I've lost all networking features which apparantly VMWare Workstation requires, and MS Virtual PC wont work with XP_Home. The008
if you built the ISO using nLite, you don't need to build another ISO using Easy CD (or Nero,....). You only need to burn this ISO image, selecting Open in the main menu. You can burn the image with Easy CD, Nero, ....

I have to choose between using Direct CD (which will format the CD & loose some recordable space), so as to drag & drop using Explorer, or making a Data CD Project. I was using the latter....These are the steps I took:File/New CD Project/Bootable CD Bootable CD Type: choose "No Emulation" Load Segment: "0x7c0 Sector Count: "4"Browse to the nLite ISO ImageRecord Did I do it wrong?nLite alredy made it bootable all you need to do is use the Image Burning Wizard from RoxioMy version of Roxio (see above) doesn't have an Image Burning Wizard. ricktendo
You can also use alcohol and VPC (virtual PC) to test the image before you go ahead and do the actual reinstall just mount the image to alcohols virtual CD/DVD rom and run VPC

Takeshi
I just find it hard to believe that Roxio can't burn iso. So a quick googling shows you how to do it in the first listing.http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm#Roxio_/...Easy_CD_CreatorMost burning programs are rather similar. You took the wrong steps to make a bootable CD in Roxio. If you already have a burning prog, stick with it. If you switch to another you never learn how to use the original or get the most from it. nmilstein
I'm a newbie too.I've tried using nLite to createan ISO that I burned to a CD-RWusing Nero 6.6.0.13, and triedinstalling it in my HP laptop(model zd8210ca). When I tryto boot, it just .. stops. I canstill see the cursor blinking, andthe light of the drive is still flashing, but it just stops. As soon as I take theCD out, Windows starts booting normally. With my normal, un-slipstreamed CD,there's a message similar to "Press anykey to boot from the CD:" before Iget the chance to see the flashingcursor (can't believe I actually waiteda whole reboot just to write this bitof information!). That was usinga copy of the original CD.I've also tried using the .ima file fromtacktech w/ Nero and the IsoBuster-extracted.img file w/ Nero (in both cases setting theboot sectors to 4, no emulation, start on 0000and 07c0 for both image files, and I checked thelabels and file formats). Same thing happened.Curiously, when I didn't set the sector to 4,I got an error message (I think it was errorcode 5).Can anyone help me?
Mr Reorg
nmilstein,It sounds like your experiencing the same issue I had, I didn't burn the ISI image correctly. The website Takeshi directed me to also has Instructions for buring ISO image using Nero 5.x or 6.x. I suggsest you burn it again following those instructions exactly. Worked for me (using the instx for Roxio). Note: I did have to re-create the ISO image (using nLite). No biggie. My CD with new image booted correctly. Unfortunately, I got some error messages during the install, but that a different thread altogether.
nmilstein
Thanks for the fast reply! However, your note ("Note: I did have to re-create the ISO image (using nLite). No biggie. My CD with new image booted correctly. ") scares me a bit. Howdid you re-create what?Since I'm using Nero 6.6, the instructions are prettystraightforward, and I happened to have done it exactlyas written. So I'm guessing I have to re-create something?Again, thanks for the fast reply.
Takeshi
If you already have made an ISO with nLite, then the correct step to take is to burn the ISO directly, not make a bootable CD with another boot image. The ISO already has a boot image so you don't add another. In Nero 6, it's in Recorder > Burn Image. You don't know if the iso boots correctly until you actually try to boot it from a CD, or from a virtual machine using the iso directly.
