nlite CD won't boot - Newbie needs help

Featured Replies

I tried to burn the ISO image directly into a CD-RW

using Nero. However, my HP did not boot with the disc..

in fact, it didn't recognize it at all. What's strange,

though, it that the computer that burned it DID boot

from the CD. Not even Nero recognizes it.

I suppose I'll contact HP support... For one thing,

the drive reads VERY slowly (1.5 hrs for ~1GB!).

Thanks for your help!

If it boots in one computer then the ISO is fine. The problem is reading the CDRW.

Try another make of CDRW (preferably a good make) and burn using a low speed. Some drives are choosy.

Strange... I posted a reply yesterday, but it doesn't show.

In any case, I was mentioning that I think it's a hardware problem. My drive doesn't recognize the disc at all. When I tried booting another laptop with the disc, it did boot from the CD. I guess I should contact HP support again.

Thanks for your input!

EDIT: Oops... Just saw that there's a second page. Sorry for the double-posting

EDIT 2: I contacted HP... was told that "there are known issues" with Memorex discs.

Tried again with an LG CD-RW, and was (finally) able to boot.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
